My tamed beasts can't be demons.

Chapter 41 What kind of spirit beast is this?

"You're really lucky," said the merchant following Zhou Lu, looking at the sky full of Nightmare Butterflies with ghost faces. "You've just arrived at the time when a new batch of Nightmare Butterflies are molting."

There's a reason why the Nightmare Butterfly with Ghost Faces remains so expensive.

What Zhou Lu is now seeing is their first-stage metamorphosis. What their larvae actually look like remains a mystery to the academic community.

The lack of knowledge about the larval morphology makes it impossible to monitor and predict the emergence of the Nightmare Butterfly, and even more impossible to conduct targeted breeding.

"Huh? Lucky?" Zhou Lu asked, somewhat surprised. "I thought it was always like this."

The traveling merchant chuckled and said, "If only the Nightmare Butterfly with its Ghost Face were as common as the chipmunks on the grasslands, we wouldn't need to pay tens of thousands per butterfly to buy them."

"So expensive?"

"It's not a consumable," the merchant said. "To put it more vividly, it's a spirit beast similar to a production device. Given its rarity, its price is naturally high. However, this is the first time I've seen so many Nightmare Butterflies."

The metamorphosis of the Nightmare Butterfly with the Ghost Face has no seasonal pattern. It seems to be related to the environment of the Forest Creek Secret Realm, but overall it appears randomly throughout the year.

"If you had come a week later, the Nightmare Butterflies here might have been wiped out," the merchant said.

As they were talking, several more beast tamers arrived with merchants.

Zhou Lu was not surprised by this. This place is a well-known habitat of Nightmare Butterflies with Ghost Faces. In addition, Nightmare Butterflies have high added value, making them the first choice for many Beast Tamers to capture.

However, the Nightmare Butterfly is not so easy to catch.

As a fantasy species, their racial skill [Lilliput], while unable to affect items that are too different in size from them, is still a very powerful skill.

Many beginners lose their minds when they see so many Nightmare Butterflies with ghost faces and order their pets to rush in and catch the butterflies.

However, in no time at all, these novices suffered a great loss.

The Nightmare Butterfly's shrinking ability actually affects both its own abilities and those of the spirit beasts.

Zhou Lu witnessed a mud monster throwing mud at the Nightmare Butterfly, trying to knock the butterfly down. However, as soon as the mud entered the Nightmare Butterfly's light range, it began to shrink continuously, eventually changing from the size of a lead ball to the size of a soybean before flying past the Nightmare Butterfly.

But experienced butterfly catchers have much more experience.

They all used professional nets to go up themselves, while the spirit pets were responsible for limiting the Nightmare Butterfly's range of movement.

Due to the huge difference in size, the Nightmare Butterfly cannot shrink a human, and this net is a special insect-catching net produced by Qimeng Beast Taming Technology Company.

The outer coating of the net is made from the slime of the cursed frog, which can resist most skill effects.

Unfortunately, as a rare third-stage mature spirit beast, there are only a handful of Cursed Frogs in the entire world, and these kinds of insect nets are simply not something ordinary people can afford.

Zhou Lu didn't know what the characteristics of this insect-catching net were, but he found it somewhat amazing that it could be immune to the skills of the [Lilliputian Kingdom].

But the beast tamers carrying special insect nets were not very happy at this moment.

They frowned as they watched the strange snails scurrying about on the ground.

Hanabi happily held up five vine-woven insect-catching nets and ran around merrily among the nightmare butterflies.

In no time, her net bag was covered with nightmare butterflies.

Little Grass doesn't understand what "Lilliput" is.

All I know is that these butterflies seem to shrink their vines.

But it doesn't matter!

I've shrunk, but I'll grow bigger again.

Fireworks wrapped several more layers of vines around the outside of the net, and to prevent the butterfly from shrinking and slipping away through the gaps in the vines, it wove the net even finer.

In the fierce competition between the two sides, Hanabi's insect net turned into a deadly net targeting the Nightmare Butterfly.

With the sticky substance from the baby sticky drink, if you throw a firework around, a few butterflies in the sky will be gone.

The gazes of those around him immediately turned hostile.

Everyone came here for the Nightmare Butterfly with the Ghost Face. Isn't what you're doing going too far?

Unlike the White Jade Snail, the Nightmare Butterfly doesn't have several populations distributed within the safe zone. This is their only habitat; if Zhou Lu manages to wipe them all out, their trip will have been in vain.

Although they were unhappy, no one dared to actually make a move.

It's not because I'm afraid of the safety teacher; as long as no one dies, the safety teacher won't intervene.

They watched the fireworks in the arena with a mixture of surprise and uncertainty.

What kind of spirit beast is this?

Its back appears to be the shell of a white jade snail, but its movements resemble those of a plant-based spirit beast.

With such agile movements, it must be at least a plant spirit beast that has completed its metamorphosis at the second stage, right?

It appears to be unaffected by the [Lilliputian] skill.

Wow! Could this be a third-tier spirit beast?

Those who were interested had already taken out an electronic encyclopedia, but Hanabi's current appearance was just too bizarre. A blade of grass carrying a snail shell was running around on the ground. No matter how high-tech the electronic encyclopedia was, it couldn't imagine such a scene.

Unsurprisingly, the electronic encyclopedia could not find any information about the species Hanabi belonged to.

A rare species?

The onlookers were even more hesitant to make a move.

It's another Tier 3 plant spirit beast, and another rare species that has never appeared before.

Damn, could this be some high-level player coming to a C-level dungeon to smurf?

While the onlookers were in Dihua, Zhou Lu was also under a lot of pressure.

He knew, of course, that what Hanabi did had definitely affected the interests of everyone present, but he couldn't let the five minutes of [Body Feeding] go to waste. As for the attributes, if he didn't get the [Lilliputian Kingdom] skill, wouldn't he be at a huge loss?

Never mind! I'm going to take this risk today no matter what!

Zhou Lu forced himself to remain calm, allowing his mind to settle down and feel the changes in skill attributes brought about by [Body Feeding], preparing for the next practice of [Body Feeding].

He hadn't intended to put on airs, after all, he didn't know these people would mistake Firework for a rare third-tier spirit beast.

Zhou Lu's thoughts were very simple:

I'm staying here. Come and fight me if you dare.

Anyway, I have Teacher An behind me. At worst, I'll get beaten half to death and then be rescued by Lü Rang.

I'm determined to get the "Lilliputian" skill today!

After having the idea of "what's the use of trying" in mind, Zhou Lu felt all the pressure disappear.

He stood there calmly, closing his eyes to feel the operation of the [Body Feeding] skill.

Perhaps it was the spiritual resonance they had shared while escaping together from the giant, delicious mushroom that made Zhou Lu seem to sense a hint of the essence of "body feeding".

After Zhou Lu completely relaxed, his leisurely and carefree demeanor further convinced everyone that his identity was not simple.

But...would such a big shot bring a traveling merchant with him? Would he even care about this little bit of money?

While people were still wondering and uncertain, Zhou Lu suddenly opened his eyes.

coming!

He sensed it.

He took out Fireworks' Beast Taming Card, which prominently displayed the skill "Lilliput".
