My tamed beasts can't be demons.

Chapter 6: Team Invitation from the Class Monitor

Amidst the strange gazes of the other two, Zhou Lu, accompanied by Hua Huo, almost fled from Wu Xiaoqing's laboratory.

Fireworks seemed unaware of what it had done wrong. As Zhou Lu fled in panic with it in his arms, it still politely waved goodbye to Wu Xiaoqing in the laboratory—even though Wu Xiaoqing had confiscated all its belongings.

The moment Zhou Lu stepped out of the teaching building, he felt a great sense of relief.

Bright sunlight streamed through the gaps between the tall buildings and the trees, falling on him.

A gentle breeze blew, causing the Dream Rain Flowers planted on both sides of the road to sway softly.

Dream Rain Flowers are not uncommon in this world, but very few of them complete their transformation into spirit beasts. The only one he knew of was Flower Fire.

As one of the most widely distributed plants in the world, the Dream Rain Flower has a very long history, so long that its competitors and natural enemies have become extinct.

Therefore, Dream Rain Flower has become the most commonly chosen plant for landscaping in this world, but basically no one would choose it as their spirit pet.

Under the spring sunshine, the Dream Rain Flowers bloomed with very beautiful white flowers.

Zhou Lu weighed the firework in his arms. Because the original flowerpot had been broken in the laboratory, Zhou Lu asked Wu Xiaoqing for a large beaker to use as a temporary flowerpot for the firework's little home.

After being repotted, Huahuo was still a little unaccustomed to it, especially since Zhou Lu had given it a transparent container, which made Huahuo feel shy and uneasy.

The little guy who was showing off his legs to Zhou Lu just a moment ago is now acting all shy.

Through the transparent glass beaker, Zhou Lu could see the restless white roots of the fire in the soil.

Zhou Lu smiled helplessly, took off his coat and wrapped it around the beaker, which made Huahuo feel much better and she became lively again, her leaves unfurling and swaying freely in the spring breeze.

Watching the fireworks come alive again, he couldn't help but wonder when this little guy would be able to bloom into beautiful flowers like its companions.

Little Fireworks clearly still felt a strong sense of novelty towards the two skills it had just learned, and it stretched out its roots and stems, growing wildly.

In the blink of an eye, several white flowers appeared on Little Firefly's body.

Ok?

Upon closer inspection, it turned out that this guy had used his outstretched runners to pluck a few flowers from the Dream Rain Flower by the roadside, then stopped his rampant growth and put the flowers on his head.

After doing all this, Huahuo happily patted her leaves and showed off to Zhou Lu: I bloomed!

Zhou Lu's forehead immediately broke out in a cold sweat.

The Beast Taming Academy's rules stipulate that students must not arbitrarily damage or harm the plants and animals on campus, as these could potentially be research materials for the school's researchers. Wu Xiaoqing is fine because she always has a reasonable excuse, unlike him.

I'd better slip away quickly, or I'll get penalized with academic credits if the volunteer patrols find out!

"Student, damaging the lawn is against school rules."

Just as Zhou Lu was about to leave, a voice came from behind him.

With a helpless sigh, he turned to look at the person who had come, only to see a familiar face.

This man was tall and strong. Although his appearance was ordinary, his powerful muscles were sure to leave a deep impression. A small silver animal that looked like a squirrel was perched on his shoulder, giving him a cute and muscular look.

"Class monitor?" Zhou Lu said subconsciously.

The visitor was named Xu Wuhu, the class monitor of the third squad of the combat department where Zhou Lu was located. He was said to be the son of a high-ranking cadre in a certain unit of the pioneering army. He had a very good reputation among his classmates, and his helpfulness was definitely not an empty compliment.

[Optional Mission 4: Kill Silver King Kong Xu Wuhu]

[Mission Introduction: Xu Wuhu, nicknamed "Silver King Kong," is one of the main accomplices of Demon King Zhou Lu. He has helped Zhou Lu escape danger on numerous occasions. Due to his powerful defense and exaggerated close combat skills, he is known as "Silver King Kong." If you want to kill him, be sure to strike before he grows stronger.]

[Task Rewards: 1 Random Permanent Skill Card for a Spirit Beast (Rank A), 1 Random One-Time Skill Card for a Beastmaster]

The sudden appearance of the task notification made Zhou Lu pause in surprise.

His expression seemed to take on a different meaning in Xu Wuhu's eyes.

Xu Wuhu frowned noticeably: "Zhou Lu, the first Beast Taming Exam is about to begin. Everyone is working hard to prepare. How can you still have the leisure to break school rules here? This is the most important exam in university. I know your father's death has been a big blow to you, but you can't let your grief bury your life along with it."

His words were harsh, but he was absolutely right.

As the main official institution for training beast tamers, the Beast Taming Academy receives substantial resources and subsidies. Free growth calculations, access to safe zones in secret realms, and general knowledge fairies are all things that are difficult to obtain outside of the academy.

If you are not a student of the Beast Taming Academy, then you will have to face a harsh reality:

If you want to know the growth progress of your spirit pet, you need to pay a spirit pet growth calculation with an average price of one million per calculation.

When you want to enter the secret realm to explore and find materials, you will have to face the perilous secret realm without the protection of strong people;

If you want to know your pet's evolution path, you'll have to spend a fortune buying evolution information from the corresponding pet breeding company. Of course, you can buy pirated copies (if you can find them), but the breeding company keeps a file for each client. If your name isn't found in the client information, you'll face a barrage of lawsuits—unless you have sufficient evidence to prove that the evolution path was developed by you independently or purchased from a knowledgeable fairy.

School is one of the few places in life where one can bridge the class gap through hard work—for many, it is even the only opportunity.

This is true in both past and present lives.

At the Beast Taming Academy, if you are truly from a poor family and lack the funds and resources to acquire a spirit beast, you can even apply to the academy for a free spirit pet. However, these free spirit pets aren't very strong, but their evolution path is simple. If you work hard enough at the academy, you can even get evolution materials for free.

Of course, this is not without its price. Students who receive free spirit beasts will have to serve an additional two years in official institutions after graduation—graduates of the Beast Taming Academy are already required to serve one year in official institutions after graduation.

Therefore, the students at the Beast Taming Academy are truly dedicated. The vast majority of students walking on campus are freshmen who haven't yet contracted a spirit pet. Students who do have spirit pets spend almost every day training them, searching for evolution materials, and preparing for the next stage of combat exams; they simply cannot be seen on campus.

Xu Wuhu's words were a bit harsh, but they were indeed true. The school's free resources wouldn't be wasted on people with no future. There were a total of six combat exams from sophomore to senior year, and failing any one of them would result in being advised to withdraw (if you don't accept the advice to withdraw, some benefits will be reduced, but you won't be forced to drop out), and failing three times would result in expulsion.

"The exam requires teams of three. I don't think you've teamed up with anyone, have you?" Xu Wuhu glanced at Zhou Lu, his tone softening, and said, "Then team up with me."

Zhou Lu raised his head and looked at Xu Wuhu in surprise.

Students who achieve excellent exam results will receive additional academic credits. Within the academy, academic credits are essentially the second most valuable currency after fairy coins. They can be used to trade materials, exchange for more growth calculations, and call for the protection of safety instructors when exploring secret realms. They are a very important resource for every student.

His own spirit pet was a plant-type spirit beast that had not yet molted and evolved from the earth. In the eyes of the world, it was basically a burden. With such a teammate, the results would not be good no matter what. Zhou Lu never expected that Xu Wuhu would invite him to become his teammate.

"Squad leader..." Zhou Lu glanced at Hua Huo, who was curiously examining Xu Wu Hu in his arms, and hesitated before speaking.

Xu Wuhu revealed a hearty smile: "Although my strength isn't that great, I can still help two classmates pass the exam. But you can't slack off either. Intensify your training of your spirit pet and strive to complete its earth-transformation evolution as soon as possible. If you have any questions, you can ask me. You can message me privately in the class group; I'm always online."

"Thank you." What could Zhou Lu say to that?

Squad leader! I will always respect you!

"Alright, let's get down to business now." Xu Wuhu took out a handheld device for scanning QR codes. "According to school rules, pay the fine for damaging the greenery."

Class monitor... I suddenly don't respect you as much anymore.

The leaves of the firework unfolded, as if it understood something.

Her runner skillfully picked two more flowers from the roadside.

*Splat*

A flower was placed on the head of Xu Wuhu's spirit pet.

Another flower was placed on Xu Wuhu's head.

"..."

A silence fell over the room.

Fireworks! What are you doing?! What have you even figured out?!

New author, new book, please read it! This is really important to me!
