Chapter 638 Dumbledore and the Soul Lamp
"Hmm~ Hmm~"
In the headmaster's office, Dumbledore was humming an unknown tune, then leaned back in his chair and casually played with the Chocolate Frog cards on the table.
It was a card of a silver-haired girl, who was covering her head and shaking her ears as Dumbledore shook.
This is an extremely rare card, the Silent Witch Roy Hamilton. Dumbledore knew that this card was worth enough to buy a hundred boxes of Chocolate Frogs—after all, this was an extremely rare Miss Hamilton, wasn't it?
He's definitely worth far more than Albus Dumbledore.
Dumbledore raised an eyebrow slightly as he looked at the card in front of him, then placed it on the table.
"Clatter".
Just then, there was a knock on the principal's office door.
"Please come in," Dumbledore said with a slight nod.
"Headmaster Dumbledore!" The one who skipped in was none other than Luna, with her silver-gold hair and lively demeanor.
"Miss Lovegood—do you need something?" Dumbledore seemed unsurprised, looking gently at Luna as he reminded her, "If it's still about—contacting Professor Hamilton."
"But that won't work."
"I'm not trying to contact Royla," Luna said, slowly sitting down opposite Dumbledore and then taking a lantern from under the table.
The lantern was now glowing faintly, its silver light guiding Dumbledore toward him.
"This is—" Dumbledore looked somewhat surprised, staring at the lantern with interest as he asked, "Who gave you this?"
"Lola." Luna tilted her head.
"Ah—" Dumbledore couldn't help but smile when he heard the name.
"So this is a magic array item, right?"
"Yes, Headmaster Dumbledore." Luna nodded seriously, then said, "Lola said this is a lantern that can be used to find Horcruxes."
"Searching for... a Horcrux?" Dumbledore looked at the direction the light was pointing and nodded knowingly.
"So you found this place by following the lantern?"
"Yes, Principal." Luna nodded. "It told me—there's a Horcrux in the Principal's office right now."
"Miss Lora's invention seems quite impressive," Dumbledore said, raising an eyebrow. "Perhaps we should give Ravenclaw a hundred points."
"So, does the principal's office really exist?" Luna asked, a little curious.
"Ah—it's a secret." Dumbledore blinked. "Please don't tell anyone, okay?"
"Ah—I understand." Luna nodded as if suddenly realizing something. "Is this the same secret as the Ministry of Magic's army of fire spirits?"
"More or less?" Dumbledore shrugged. "I've heard that the Snorkeling Beast prefers children who keep secrets."
"I've heard of it too." Luna nodded seriously.
Looking at Luna, Dumbledore reached out slightly to take the Soul Lamp, then held it up and examined it.
The silver light gently guided it, shifting its position as Dumbledore changed the location of his arm.
But in any case, it always points to the drawer next to Dumbledore.
"This thing—can I take a look at it first?" Dumbledore asked after thinking for a moment.
"Of course," Luna nodded. "But will you give it back to me?"
"Of course," Dumbledore smiled knowingly. "After all, it's yours."
"This belongs to Lola," Luna shook her head. "She just lent it to me."
Luna's somewhat serious question elicited a slight chuckle from Dumbledore: "May I ask—where has Miss Lorra gone?"
"I don't know either." Luna shook her head. "Besides—I think Lola might not want to meet the principal."
""
"That's true." Dumbledore shrugged slightly. "Just as I don't want to see her right now either."
Dumbledore's words did not elicit any reaction from Luna. Luna gave Dumbledore a slight bow, then jumped off the chair and left.
It was as if she had come here solely to deliver the Soul Lamp to Dumbledore.
As soon as the door closed, Dumbledore's smile vanished.
He looked at the soul lamp in front of him, took a deep breath, and then gently took the ring out of the drawer of the table.
As he moved, the soul lamp immediately became agitated, its silver light constantly striking the lamp wall, producing one crisp sound after another.
It was obvious that it was trying to reunite with its other half of soul—which confirmed Dumbledore's suspicions about how the Soul Lamp was made.
Miss Hamilton—she's truly skilled and daring—this prompted Dumbledore to nod slightly.
His gaze lingered on the ring, the gemstone on it making him pause for a moment—after a few seconds, he clutched his forehead, feeling a slight headache, and then shook his head.
He deftly put the ring into the drawer and then looked at it again.
Just seconds after all that was over, there was another knock on the principal's office door.
"Who?" Dumbledore's voice carried a hint of wariness.
"Headmaster Dumbledore." Harry's voice rang out from outside, causing Dumbledore's expression to soften slightly.
"Please come in—Harry," he said.
As he spoke, Harry slowly pushed open the door and walked in.
"It's been a while, Harry," Dumbledore asked slowly. "Shouldn't you be preparing for your final exams?"
"Ah—it's like this, Headmaster Dumbledore," Harry said, pursing his lips. "I want—I want to join the Order of the Phoenix."
"The Order of the Phoenix?" Dumbledore raised an eyebrow. "Harry—this isn't something a child should join."
"But I'm not a child anymore," Harry said, pursing his lips. "I'm going to defeat Voldemort!"
Upon hearing Harry's words, Dumbledore chuckled softly, and just as he was about to say something more, he suddenly noticed the lantern on the table.
Harry's gaze fell precisely on the lantern.
The silver light from the lantern was striking the lamp wall, but not towards Dumbledore's drawer—it was towards Harry.
"Isn't this Lola's lantern—Lola's lantern?" Harry asked, somewhat surprised.
Dumbledore's expression suddenly turned serious. He didn't explain anything, but instead frowned as he stared at the lantern in front of him.
"By Merlin—" For once, Dumbledore showed a look of surprise, frowning as he looked at Harry and the lantern.
Then they fell silent.
"Dumbledore—Headmaster?" Although he didn't know what was going on, Harry felt that something might have happened.
And why is Lora's lantern...?
"Harry—regarding your joining the Order of the Phoenix—I agree," Dumbledore said slowly, taking his lantern and gently placing it under the table.
Then, looking into Harry's eyes, he said, word by word, "I believe you."
