Chapter 21 Little Savi
Led by Savi, Roy and his two companions arrived at a rather luxurious hotel. It was quite rare to find such a well-preserved three-story building in this country.
Upon seeing guests arrive, a waiter immediately came out of the hotel to greet them and enthusiastically introduced the hotel.
As Roy and his two companions entered the hotel, Roy turned around and glared fiercely at Savi.
Check-in is complete.
Seeing Savi standing at the door, Roy asked curiously, "Savi, aren't you coming in? I have something to ask you."
Savi, who was angrily glaring at the waiter at the door, heard Roy's words, hesitated, walked into the hotel, glanced at the waiter who was still smiling, and quickly followed Roy and the others.
In the corridor, Tezzolo put his arm around Savi's neck.
"Kid, you were so arrogant just now. Why don't you even dare to come in the door now?"
"You...you bastard, who's afraid to come in...?"
"So what are you afraid of?"
The group arrived at the room and put their luggage away.
Savi, who was last to enter, closed the door and said with a displeased look, "This hotel is owned by General Douglas. For people like us who have no money, if we offend them, we will be kicked out of town. The situation outside is even more dangerous."
Roy opened the window and looked at the pedestrians coming and going on the street. Among them were some pirates, arms dealers, and mercenaries. The word "danger" was written all over everyone's face, but thanks to the occasional patrols of the army, no major conflicts broke out.
Turning to Savi, he asked, "Little guy, have you ever heard of the name 'Barrett'?"
"Barrett!!"
"Is that Douglas Barrett? Of course I know him! He's a hero of our 'Kingdom of Jarzburg' now! He's the strongest soldier under General Douglas..."
Watching Savi excitedly recount Barrett's exploits, Roy lowered his head in deep thought. "It seems Barrett hasn't yet developed his future personality; he's still a passionate young man fighting for peace."
Roy was also quite troubled about how to get Barrett onto the ship. "Well, let's just take it one step at a time and figure out how to get in touch with him first."
Roy waved his hand, interrupting Savi, who was talking non-stop.
"Alright, Savi, do you know where Barrett usually hangs out?"
"I don't know. But he's always been in the military camp and doesn't come to town much. I've only seen him twice, when the general was celebrating a victory."
"Alright." Seeing that he hadn't gotten any more useful information, Roy said to Stella, "Stella, give Saviour three thousand Berries and see him out."
"Yes, boss!"
Seeing them leave, Tezzolo took a sip of water.
"Boss, Barrett has been at the military camp the whole time. How are we going to find him?"
"And that brat Savi said that Barrett's army is about to end the long war, and he's a national hero now. Will he still leave with us?"
"End the war?"
Roy scoffed at this claim.
"Tesoro, the World Government will not let this island stop the war. Don't be fooled by the fact that there are arms dealers all over the island. Most of them are controlled by the World Government. If the war ends, who will sell their weapons to? And who can keep buying weapons from abroad for hundreds of years?"
Upon hearing Roy's explanation, Tesoro's face flashed with surprise.
"Isn't that world government incredibly cunning?"
"Otherwise what? Do you think the World Government is some kind of benevolent entity? Who do you think those slave traders in Sabaody Archipelago are serving?"
During the conversation... the door opened.
Stella led Savi into the room.
Tesoro, looking at Savi who hadn't left, asked curiously, "Didn't I give you money to leave, kid?"
Savi ignored Tezzolo's question and instead stared intently at Roy before speaking.
"Boss Roy, I want to join you."
"Oh?"
Looking at Savi, who was only 7 or 8 years old, Roy was also surprised by his idea of joining them.
"Hey, what nonsense are you spouting about joining us? Kid, you shot at us before, didn't you? If Boss Roy hadn't let you go, would you still be standing here talking to us?"
"Take the money and get out of here."
Tezzolo angrily grabbed Savi by the collar, saying he was about to throw him out of the room.
For them, who are wanted by the world government, joining them is no safer than living in their own country, and may even be more dangerous.
So Roy didn't stop Tesoro's actions, after all, he didn't want another child even younger than them on the ship.
"You guys are pirates, aren't you?" Savi said as he was being grabbed by the collar.
"What?"
"You're pirates!"
Savi's words surprised Tezzolo and Stella.
Roy became increasingly interested in the little guy. In a world where most people are face-blind, it was amazing that Savi could recognize them. (He had only had Stella do some simple makeup.)
"Tezzolo, put him down."
"But boss... this brat..."
"Alright, put Tesoro down. With me here, this little guy can't escape."
Upon hearing Roy's words, Savi immediately broke free from Tesoro's control, walked up to Roy, and gave Tesoro a disdainful look.
Seeing that Tesoro was about to get angry, Roy quickly asked Savi, "How did you know who we are?"
Savi looked at Roy: "I saw your wanted posters a few days ago. Although your appearance has changed a bit, the color of your hair hasn't changed, especially that guy's."
He then pointed at Tezzo.
"That head of short green hair is so eye-catching."
"You can tell it's us on the wanted poster just by the color of our hair?" Tesoro asked curiously.
"Of course not. There's also the way Boss Roy controlled me back then. The newspapers said he could manipulate everything around him."
"Similar faces, same hair color, a group of two men and one woman, and the ability to make me fly—aren't there just too many coincidences?"
Looking at Savi's smug expression, Roy could only smile wryly, and then couldn't help but admire the little guy's keenness.
"Why do you want to join us? What about your family? You should know we're pirates, wanted by the World Government. It's very dangerous to be with us."
Upon hearing Roy's question, Savi's expression darkened as he replied, "My family died in the war long ago. I've been living alone in this country all my life. I'm not afraid of danger. I want to go out to sea with you and see the world. I want to leave this country that's always at war."
Stella, being a girl, saw Savi's dejected expression and quickly stepped forward to gently take his hand. Then, she hesitated and said to Roy, "Boss... how about we leave him here?"
Although Tesoro was displeased that Savi was holding Stella's hand, he nodded in agreement.
"Alright, Savi, you can come with us for now, but you can't leave right now."
"Yay!"
"Don't be happy yet. You're too weak right now. Tesoro will train you later. If you don't meet my requirements, I won't take you with me."
"Okay, boss, I'll do my best." Savi nodded seriously.
When Tesoro heard that Savi would be training with him, he immediately became excited. He was determined to give this brat who dared to embarrass him a good beating.
"Hehehe."
