Chapter 287 The Situation Gets Out of Control
Blake glanced at the cash on the table, a flicker of hesitation crossing his eyes. Although he wasn't directly involved in these murders, this information was extremely valuable, especially to his own benefit. Finally, Blake sighed and said in a low voice, "Alright, I'll give you some more clues. Behind those victims you mentioned is someone who used to be a key member of the Blood Hawk gang. His name is Alfred, and he has a lot of information about these illegal transactions. If you find him, you might be able to uncover the whole truth."
Upon hearing this, Lynn felt a surge of excitement, but he remained calm: "Alfred? Where is he now?"
Blake looked around and said in a low voice, "Alfred has been missing for a while. Some say he was captured by other gangs, while others say he's hiding and preparing to escape. But he has indeed contacted some Bloodhawks recently. If you can find him, you might be able to unravel the truth behind this series of killings."
Lynn nodded, already having a new goal in mind: "Thank you, Blake. The information you provided was very helpful."
Blake didn't say anything more, but simply raised the corners of his mouth slightly and watched Lynn leave.
After leaving Blake's office, Lynn was filled with mixed emotions. Although his encounter with Blake hadn't yielded a direct conclusion, the clues it provided brought him one step closer to the truth.
After receiving the tip from Black, Lynn immediately began searching for Alfred's whereabouts. Although Black had given him some information, he hadn't fully revealed Alfred's exact location. Lynn understood that Alfred's disappearance wasn't accidental; he might have deliberately hidden himself, or some force might be searching for and controlling him. In any case, Alfred became the key figure in unraveling the entire mystery.
After some searching, Lynn finally found Alfred's trail in a dilapidated warehouse in Las Vegas. It was far from the city center, and the surrounding area was desolate. The warehouse door was tightly shut, rusted and looked like it hadn't been used for a long time. Lynn tiptoed to the warehouse door, the only sound the wind whistling through the empty space. He gently pushed the door open and stood in the doorway, observing everything inside.
The warehouse was dimly lit and filled with various unidentified items and equipment. Lynn scanned his surroundings warily, his heart pounding. He knew Alfred was likely inside this warehouse. Suddenly, a deep voice came from the shadows: "You've finally arrived, Agent Lynn."
Lynn turned around and saw Alfred. He was dressed simply, his face haggard, as if he had been having a hard time all these years. Alfred's eyes were deep, carrying a detached indifference, as if he had completely detached himself from the noise and conflict of the outside world.
"You knew I'd come here?" Lynn's gaze was sharp, his steps steady as he approached Alfred. "Are you planning to just keep hiding like this?"
Alfred lowered his head, let out a long sigh, seemingly considering whether he should continue to conceal something. He remained silent for a moment before slowly speaking, "I know you're looking for me, Lynn. You want to know why these gamblers died, what kind of deal was behind it, and how all of this is connected to the Bloodhawk Gang, isn't that right?"
Lynn did not answer immediately, but looked at Alfred quietly, waiting for him to continue.
"The Blood Hawks are no longer just a simple gang," Alfred suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with pain. "Over the years, they've not only been involved in gambling, but they've also started venturing into more horrific areas, even going so far as to exploit these gamblers, stripping them of their most precious possession—their organs. The truth you want to know is just that dark."
Upon hearing this, Lynn was deeply shocked, a look of disbelief flashing in his eyes: "You mean, the Blood Eagle Gang is harvesting organs from gamblers? They obtain organs through these killings for sale?"
Alfred nodded, his face expressionless, his voice low and deep: "Yes. Those gamblers all share a common characteristic—they are all one of the Blood Hawk's 'sources of funding.' Some are in debt, some were brought into the underground gambling world by them. Initially, the Blood Hawk controlled these people through gambling, but as the underground gambling expanded, the organization began to realize that relying solely on the gamblers' money was not enough. So, they began to implement a more horrific plan: to surgically remove the gamblers' organs and then resell them on the black market."
Lynn's brow furrowed deeply, her mind a jumble of thoughts, struggling to accept this information. "You mean, all the victims died for organs?"
“That’s right.” Alfred’s voice was almost imperceptible. “The Blood Hawk selects certain gamblers, especially those who have accumulated huge gambling debts, or those they consider ‘useless.’ Once these people die, their organs are secretly harvested and sold on the black market to wealthy people who need them. Think about how tempting money is in this city. Many people abandon their principles for quick profits.”
Lynn was shocked upon hearing this. The darkness behind it was far more terrifying than he had imagined. Taking a life in this way was not merely cold-blooded, but a profound trampling of humanity. Lynn clenched his fists, took a deep breath, and whispered, "How did you know all this?"
Alfred sighed, a flicker of pain in his eyes: "I used to be a member of the Blood Hawk gang, I know how they operate. Initially, I joined them for profit, but I gradually found things becoming increasingly uncontrollable. Especially when I saw them secretly operating these 'organ trades,' I became utterly disgusted. Those people's lives were treated like they were completely abandoned. I wanted to leave, but they wouldn't let me go, so I had no choice but to go into hiding."
Lynn took a deep breath and stood up straight: "Then, can you tell me, have the victim's organs already been resold?"
Alfred's eyes darkened. "I don't know the specific details, but I've heard about their methods. Organs are processed quickly and then circulated on the black market. Some people specialize in buying these organs and reselling them to those who need them. I know these things, but they won't let me reveal them easily."
Lynn didn't say much, but he had already made up his mind. He knew that only by verifying all this information could he uncover the truth of the case and bring the criminals behind it to justice. Although Alfred had provided many clues, Lynn knew he couldn't rely entirely on Alfred's words.
"I need to examine the remains of these victims," Lynn said in a low voice. "Only through autopsies, confirming whether these organs were indeed removed, can we further prove the crimes of the Bloodhawk Gang."
Alfred nodded, seemingly understanding what was about to happen. "Be careful, Lynn. The Blood Hawk Gang has influence throughout this city; they definitely won't let you get away with this."
Lynn took a deep breath, appearing even more determined: "Don't worry, I'll be careful. I'll handle the rest myself."
Hours later, Lynn and Mark secretly traveled to a funeral home in Las Vegas. This funeral home wasn't as simple as it seemed; it was actually part of the Blood Hawk gang, used to dispose of the bodies of gamblers they had murdered. Lynn knew that only here could he obtain conclusive evidence.
After some investigation, Lynn and Mark successfully obtained some useful clues. The staff didn't know Lynn's true identity, but through his skillful questioning, they revealed some clues. It turned out that the Blood Eagle Gang did indeed control some unidentified "black market traders" behind the scenes, who were responsible for purchasing the organs obtained by the Blood Eagle Gang.
Following a detailed investigation and autopsy, Lynn discovered an even more shocking fact—the deceased was indeed missing some organs. Vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, and liver had been swiftly removed, leaving almost no trace to the original crime scene. All of this indicated that the Blood Eagle gang did indeed possess a vast organ trafficking network.
“We have evidence, Mark.” Lynn stood beside the autopsy report, his face grave. “The Bloodhawks aren’t just killing people; they’re systematically harvesting their organs for profit. Now, we have to take action.”
Mark took a deep breath, a flash of anger in his eyes: "We have to act quickly, or more people will die at their hands."
Lynn nodded: "We have evidence, and now we must make it public. Whatever the outcome, we must uncover this dark truth."
Lynn stood in the FBI office in Las Vegas, staring at a detailed report on the table. The report listed all the evidence of the Blood Hawk gang's involvement in the illegal organ trade, along with the backgrounds of several victims. Lynn knew this document was more than just an indictment; it was the key to their operation. If they could successfully produce this evidence, the Blood Hawk gang's dark dealings would be exposed, and many innocent lives might be saved.
However, this is no easy task. The casinos and underworld of Las Vegas are intricately intertwined, and the Blood Hawk is not simply a gang, but an organization with powerful backing and an extremely vast network of interests. Lynn and Mark have confirmed some of this information through a series of investigations, but to truly shake the foundations of the Blood Hawk, they still need more assistance.
"What are you planning to do?" Mark looked at Lynn, his brow furrowed. "If we hand this evidence over to the local police, will they cooperate fully with us?"
A flicker of uncertainty crossed Lynn's eyes: "The city's police force isn't enough to handle the Blood Hawk's vast network. We can't suppress them with just our own strength. I've decided to hand over the evidence to the Las Vegas Police Department, hoping they can cooperate with the FBI in a joint operation. We need to find the Blood Hawk's hidden base and dismantle its underground trading network."
Mark nodded, but a hint of worry remained on his face: "Do you really think they can cooperate with us? There are many people in the Las Vegas police force who have connections with gangs, I'm afraid... there might be some unexpected issues."
Lynn took a deep breath and replied, "All we can do is try our best to give them enough evidence to force them to act. As for whether they cooperate or not, that's up to the police."
So Lynn and Mark handed over all the evidence to the local police, requesting their cooperation with the FBI in a full-scale crackdown. After receiving the documents, the police outwardly agreed to cooperate with the FBI; however, Lynn remained uneasy. He knew that corruption was deeply ingrained in every corner of the city, and the greater the Blood Hawk's influence, the more likely they were to influence the operation's progress with the help of certain individuals.
Several days later, the joint police and FBI operation finally began. The target was a small outpost of the Blood Hawk gang outside the city. It was a well-hidden warehouse, unremarkable from the outside, but inside it was a trading hub responsible for buying and selling illegal organs. Lynn, Mark, and the joint police team were fully prepared; everyone was wearing bulletproof vests and carrying sufficient weapons and equipment, ready to take the swiftest and most decisive measures in the operation.
On the day of the operation, Lynn and Mark sat in the command vehicle, closely monitoring the progress on site. Police special forces were approaching the target area, and everyone was on edge. Lynn maintained radio contact with the on-site commander to ensure everything proceeded according to plan.
However, as the police team approached the warehouse's perimeter, an unexpected incident occurred. The seemingly empty warehouse suddenly erupted in intense gunfire, and several police officers instantly fell. Lynn's heart skipped a beat; he knew something was wrong. The on-site commander's urgent voice came through the radio: "Report! Report! Something's amiss! The enemy's equipment is abnormal; at least several of them possess supernatural abilities!"
Lynn immediately turned to Mark, and the two exchanged a glance, realizing that the battle before them was far more complex than they had anticipated. "They have mutants," Lynn said calmly. "Some members of the Bloodhawk gang have even been recruited as mutants!"
An even more chaotic voice came through the radio: "The situation is out of control! The situation is out of control! We need support! We urgently need reinforcements!"
Lynn clenched his fists, a strong sense of crisis rising within him. He immediately contacted FBI headquarters via radio, requesting more reinforcements. But he knew the situation was dire. If this attack wasn't contained in time, the Blood Hawk's mutant members could easily thwart the police and FBI's plans, potentially leading to even more casualties.
"Mark, we need to provide support immediately." Lynn didn't hesitate at all. "This operation probably won't be as simple as we think."
Mark nodded and followed Lynn closely. They quickly transferred to an armored vehicle and headed to the scene. Hundreds of meters from the warehouse, Lynn looked out the window and saw the street outside shrouded in thick smoke, with police cars and ambulances rushing to the scene. Lynn was anxious, but he remained calm. He knew he had to get into the fight as quickly as possible to turn the tide. (End of Chapter)
