Hughes lowered his head, which Talis perceived as hesitation regarding the offer he had made.

Talis silently tightened his grip; in truth, he didn't have much magic left.

Although releasing the dark creatures consumed the magical energy points that his teacher had previously injected into him, he also continuously summoned a large number of skeletons in order to sweep away the creatures in the Dahl Forest, and his magical energy had already been largely exhausted.

The gray-haired apprentice opposite him had drunk the potion and seemed to still have some strength left, which is why he resorted to this desperate measure.

"Besides, we already knew about your stronghold. Those apprentices from Graystone Town—they're probably all ashes by now."

Talis added another sentence, giving himself a boost of confidence.

Little did they know, Hughes on the other side was trying his best to hide his strange expression.

"Can't get through? No way."

Hughes had already sensed it; although the cost was greater than the original distance, it could indeed activate the coordinates he had set up at the Everfrost Spire for teleportation.

"But how should we deal with that official wizard...?"

Thinking of this, Hughes slowly raised his head, his expression somewhat tragic, and said:

"Alright, I agree. But Lord Talis, may I ask what your true purpose is?"

"Hahahaha—Alright! I'll tell you then."

Talis threw his head back and laughed, his expression extremely smug:

"We don't know the specifics either, but one of our leaders of the Natural Speakers needs a lot of life force, so he asked a formal wizard to send us to various places to secretly collect life force."

Talis reached into his storage bag and pulled out a tree branch.

"This is the tool we use to extract life force. We are under a special spell so that the branches won't extract our life force."

Hughes stared intently at the seemingly ordinary tree branch; he now understood the Nature Speaker's general purpose.

"How about it, hurry up and sign it—"

"Is it Olympus?"

Hughes interrupted Talis and asked with certainty.

"Huh? How did you know—uh!"

Talis was surprised that Hughes knew about their Dean, but before he could even show his surprise, two invisible energies shot out and shattered the two Cyclops eyes on his body.

"Hiss—"

Two sounds of eyeballs bursting came simultaneously, one from the shoulder and one from the abdomen, as two blobs of green juice exploded from Talis's body.

The next moment, having suddenly lost control of the Cyclops, Talis was temporarily unable to regain control of his body and collapsed to the ground.

"you--?"

Talis couldn't understand why Hughes had made a move. They still had several third-class apprentices, and they could even have summoned a formal wizard. Why didn't he agree? Did he have some other trick up his sleeve?

"Da da—"

"Click—Ugh!!"

Hughes walked up to Talis and then stomped heavily on Talis's chest, the sound of bones cracking coming from his chest.

"Submission? Hah... I once signed a slave contract with a half-elf."

Hughes increased the pressure under his feet, and blood continued to gush from Talis's mouth.

"Once I've accomplished my goal, I'll kill him immediately—and his family, including his brother Tyrese, who lives far away in the central district!"

Talis's heart skipped a beat upon hearing this, and his pupils contracted slightly as a hint of shock flashed across his face.

Of course he knew Tyrese, the genius who skipped the selection process of the Bartholomew's Cup and went directly to the Maranseur Center for further studies!

Just as Hughes was about to finish off Talis, the effects of the Wild Power drug began to wear off, followed by unexpected side effects.

Hughes wasn't worried about this, as he had already taken a concoction that could balance the effects of the wild power, which would greatly reduce the side effects.

"roar--"

Without warning, Hughes suddenly let out a loud roar, his voice mixed with a soft sound like a dragon's cry.

Hughes' body began to tremble violently, his veins throbbing wildly, and soon, tiny blue scales began to grow all over his skin.

Talis, unaware of what had happened, saw Hughes pause briefly, quickly dispelled the feigned death spell, and once his body regained its vitality, he took control of it again, stood up, and pushed Hughes away.

Just as he turned to run away, a claw strike powerful enough to slice through the air came whistling through the air and slammed into his back.

"Hiss—Aaaaaah!!!"

Blood gushed from Talis's back, and five deep, bone-revealing claw marks appeared on his back. Through the wounds, one could even see his lungs, which were throbbing wildly and gradually regaining their color.

The excruciating pain in his back caused Talis to collapse once again. He turned to look at Hughes, only to see that Hughes's crimson pupils had completely transformed into wild, vertical pupils, and his mouth was filled with ferocious fangs.

Talis quickly raised his hand and shot several bone arrows at Hughes. With a few crisp "bangs", Hughes easily shattered the bone arrows with a swing of his claw.

"Bang—"

Hughes slammed his foot on the ground, and the next moment, with a loud bang, Hughes pounced on Talis like an arrow.

Talis had just taken control of his body and was very clumsy. Hughes easily tackled him to the ground and then began to bite him wildly.

"Sizzle—sizzle sizzle sizzle—!"

The sound of fangs tearing flesh echoed across the battlefield, but it did not attract anyone's attention. Hughes seemed to have completely lost his mind, tearing at the body beneath him based solely on instinct.

"Ah...ah..."

Talis's screams gradually weakened, and his body stopped trembling. Only the "hoarse" sound of blood foam overflowing from his throat remained. He slowly raised his hand, trying to resist the biting, but his arm was bitten off by Hughes as soon as he raised it.

The putrid stench swirling around it corroded part of Hughes' lips, and the blood from the severed wound splattered onto Hughes's blue-scaled cheeks, making them appear exceptionally vivid.

Talis's breath gradually weakened. He looked around and saw that Viola and the others were still fighting fiercely with the enemy and had not noticed him. Seeing this, he had already decided on his fate.

"Damn it... Is this how you die...?"

The excruciating pain in his body had numbed Talis. He couldn't help but think of the enemies who had been torn apart and killed by the corpses he had summoned. Perhaps they felt the same way?

Talis was extremely resentful. If someone hadn't reported him, he would never have lost the opportunity to study at the Maranseur Center, and he wouldn't have been forced to become a part of Orinius's insane plan.

"Pfft—"

Just then, Talis felt a sudden emptiness in his body. Looking up, he saw that Hughes had torn out half of his lung and was about to put it into his mouth.

"Heh... Let a proper wizard torment you—"
