Chapter 266 Deep Within the Fog

On a plain somewhere on the continent of Maransel, a cloud giant the size of a small mountain stood at the edge, preparing to step into the forest beside the plain.

"Boom—"

As his giant foot landed in the forest, the surrounding trees shook violently, and even the ground trembled slightly.

The monsters in the forest hurriedly gave way, fearing they would be trampled into mincemeat by this behemoth.

However, perhaps it is because his body is entirely formed from clouds and mist.

When that mountain-like giant foot landed in the forest, it didn't break a single tree, nor did it leave even the slightest trace on the ground, as if a large cloud had just gently brushed by.

At this moment, a black-robed apprentice was leisurely lying on the head of the cloud giant, his back pressed against the fluffy clouds, and looking up, he saw a clear sky.

Hughes and Booth had been traveling eastward towards Maransel for several days. Wherever they went, the wizards of the towns along the way couldn't help but glance at them, their eyes filled with a mixture of surprise and curiosity.

However, sensing the mental energy fluctuations of the Cloud Giant that were comparable to those of a formal wizard, even the Black Wizard dared not act rashly.

Booth's hips were so wide that he could stride across a wizarding town in one step, but perhaps because the clouds were constantly churning, Hughes didn't feel any swaying.

Above Booth, Hughes was not only overlooking the surrounding scenery, but also brewing Booth's favorite drink, preparing a surprise for him before parting.

He did try to test Booth with drinks, but Booth clearly only recognized Cyrus. But then again, it made sense; he was only a third-class apprentice, and it would be strange to have a formal wizard as a companion.

Wizards have always been strictly hierarchical, after all, each realm is a huge leap, and the lifespans alone differ greatly. Even he and Serafina are only relatively familiar with each other because of potions.

This is why Rontagore is famous in Maransel – apart from the Remivo family, no one knows how he tamed a full-fledged wizard-level fire dragon at the apprentice level.

"Thump—"

After a long while, a deafening sound came from beneath Booth's feet, and the sky above Hughes was suddenly covered by thick fog.

Hughes stood up, walked to the edge of Booth's head, and looked down, his gaze slowly shifting from the sky.

As far as the eye could see, the cliffs on both sides looked as if they had been cleaved by a giant axe, and the steep rock walls were covered with scarlet blood.

Further away, thick white fog rolled in from the depths of the valley, flowing slowly like a living thing, completely concealing the scene within the valley.

Only occasionally, a gentle breeze from outside would drift through the valley, lifting a corner of the mist and revealing the scene inside—a pitted ground dotted with pale, skeletal corpses.

They had reached the edge of the Misty Valley, but Booth needed to go around the valley first, deliver Hughes to the Everfrost Spire, and then return to enter the valley.

Just as Booth lifted his foot again, the surrounding mist suddenly surged and hissed.

Immediately, they transformed into ferocious monsters, each with a lifelike appearance.

These giant wolves made of mist with their gaping jaws, giant bears with bodies as large as mountains, and harpies with wings and gleaming claws all pounced on Hughes.

Hughes's face darkened, and he was about to activate his magic to defend himself when Booth beneath him moved first.

Its massive body appeared and disappeared in the mist, yet it exuded an undeniable majesty. It raised its giant hand, seemingly slowly, but in reality, it slammed it down on the group of harpies that pounced the fastest.

With a "poof," the harpies, like shattered bubbles, turned back into mist under the blow of the giant hand.

The scattered mist was clearly afraid of the cloud giant before them; instead of reforming, it flew away in all directions in a chaotic manner.

"Roar roar roar—!!!"

Seeing that these mist demons were so blind as to attack his friends, Booth was furious. After a deafening roar, the mist dissipated and vanished completely into the air.

As these mist demons died, the surrounding area instantly cleared up, revealing a clear sky above and showing the horrific scenes that Hughes had witnessed earlier.

Suddenly, Booth raised his head slightly, and from the mist outside the area, pairs of purple eyes appeared, faintly visible but exuding majesty.

In the mist at the forefront, a figure of normal human build was faintly visible, its purple eyes slightly open, its pupils gleaming with an intelligence that was completely different from its surroundings.

"Boos, you go back first. I have a way to get back. Don't forget, I'm an apprentice of the Space School."

Hughes slid down to Booth's ear and said to him.

These are clearly Booth's people, and the one at the front is probably a level two Cloud Giant; he wouldn't be so blind.

Upon hearing this, Booth slowly raised his giant hand, which was as big as a small house, and carefully brought it to his ear. Hughes, who was beside his ear, seized the opportunity and nimbly stepped onto his solid palm.

Booth felt the slight weight in his palm and slowly moved the giant hand, gently sending Hughes to the outer edge of the Misty Nightmare Valley.

"Oh, right, this is for you."

Hughes jumped off Booth's palm, then turned and placed a storage bag in Booth's hand, inside which was a beverage he had concocted.

Booth glanced at the contents of the storage bag, and a visible look of joy immediately appeared in his purple eyes.

He then reached into his chest and held a rhombus-shaped mist crystal between his fingers, which he then presented to Hughes.

Hughes gladly accepted Booth's return gift, and from the other man's eyes, it was clear that this crystal could protect him from the "fog disaster" here.

"roar--"

After a low growl, Booth slowly stepped into the Misty Valley, his figure disappearing into the depths of the mist.

……

"call……"

After Booth left, Hughes immediately gasped. His feet touched the ground again, and he felt a little dazed. It wasn't long before he slowly recovered and was able to walk on the ground again.

Hughes glanced to the side and saw that mist had risen again in the valley, covering the area from before.

Normally, at this distance, the wizard would be targeted by the Fog Calamity, but fortunately, the Fog Crystal in Hughes's hand was emitting a faint light, and the Fog Calamity, wary of the Cloud Giant's identity, dared not make a move.

Hughes looked at the map, which marked some of the most iconic locations on the continent of Maransel and the various factions.

The teleportation distance from Misty Valley to Everfrost Spire is undoubtedly the farthest Hughes has ever traveled, many kilometers farther than his last teleportation from Dahl Forest.
