Chapter 37: Strongest vs. Strongest

Several official wizards from Everfrost Spire were flying toward their stronghold, a structure formed by several twisted, enormous ancient trees intertwined together.

At this moment, the six official wizards of the Second Ring Outpost were discussing countermeasures in the council hall.

"Boul, has there been any news from headquarters?"

"no."

"It seems headquarters has abandoned us. We've been getting news of our bases falling over the past few days, but headquarters is acting like nothing's happened and letting us continue operating as usual," Brice said with a grim expression.

He is considered the most powerful of the six, and is currently in charge.

"Hmph, it's because those people from the Fifth Ring have gone mad that they dared to kill the heir of the Soya Valen family."

"Bull, can you break through that energy shield outside?" Briss asked.

"It should be possible, but you need to buy me some time."

"Alright, they should be here soon." A cold glint flashed in Bliss's eyes as he listened to the sounds of fighting outside.

Five wizards flew out from the treetops to confront the wizards at Everfrost Spire.

The two sides immediately began fighting upon meeting, with formal wizard-level magic flashing through the air.

Six people also arrived at Everfrost Spire. They tacitly agreed to each take one spot to prevent accidental injury to teammates in the chaos.

With one person missing from the stronghold, Briss had no choice but to fight two enemies. Looking at the two menacing figures, Briss gritted his teeth, chanted a spell, and cast the Forest Whisper Life-Summoning Spell on the twisted ancient trees.

The next second, the twisted ancient trees seemed to regain their life and began to grow wildly. Countless decaying roots sprouted from the ground and stretched towards a wizard in front of Bliss.

The wizard of the Everfrost Spire quickly froze the roots reaching towards him into ice crystals, but the ancient tree's regenerative ability was extremely strong, and the next second, countless more roots attacked...

These twisted ancient trees are actually the Mother of Rotten Roots, from which the Rotten Root Tree People were born. Although they have been made into buildings, their corrosive properties still exist. Bliss preserved them in order to extract the corrosive substances from them.

After temporarily entangled one enemy with Mother of Rotten Roots, Briss hurriedly attacked another enemy. Forest Whisper Life could not be maintained for long, and he did not have much time left.

Witt of the Everfrost Spire was the strongest of the assembled wizards. Upon seeing Bliss's attack, he quickly erected a wall of fire.

Without flinching, Brice passed through the wall of fire and headed straight for Witt. The scorching flames burned away his clothes, revealing large patches of dark green scales on his skin.

Seeing that the other party had undergone extensive biological modification, Victor dared not be negligent. He condensed fire element into a spear in his hand. The flaming spear was surrounded by scorching flames, and red runes flowed on its surface.

"Whoosh—!"

The flaming spear was hurled at Briss, carrying enough energy to distort space itself.

Sensing the terrifying energy emanating from the spear, he knew his scales couldn't withstand it, so he quickly twisted his body in an uncanny way, narrowly dodging the oncoming flaming spear.

"A soft-shelled crocodile?"

Seeing that the other party could twist his body to the limit, Witt guessed.

Witt used his mental power to lock onto Briss. The next moment, many purple crystals formed around Briss and crashed down on him.

Briss ignored the attacks, letting the amethyst pieces smash against him with a "crackling" sound. As he charged toward Witt, he unleashed several corrosive gas projectiles at Witt.

While dodging the corrosive gas bombs, Witt looked at Bliss and saw the crystal block smash into Bliss, with many small fragments getting stuck in his scales.

Seeing that his goal had been achieved, Witt smiled mysteriously, but in the next instant, Briss suddenly accelerated and rushed in front of Witt. Briss raised his scaly hand, clenched it into a fist, and smashed it down on Witt with all his might.

Witt had no time to dodge and was hit hard by the fist, but he did not show any pain on his face.

The next second—"Snap, crash"

Witt transformed into a humanoid purple crystal, which was blasted into fragments by the immense impact of Bliss's fist.

"A clone!" Briston sensed something was wrong.

Witt appeared behind him, and just as Bliss was about to turn around, the tiny crystals in the scales suddenly grew larger.

"Click"

"ah!!"

The crystal stuck in his scales grew larger, not only pushing some of his scales off, but also enveloping the area below Bliss's head, binding him tightly.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Witt reached out and touched the crystal, while simultaneously manipulating fire elements in his hand. As soon as his hand touched the surface of the crystal, the originally purple crystal suddenly turned bright red and burst into blazing flames.

"ah!!"

Brees cried out in pain, while Witt watched from the side. Witt dared not kill him, because Jon had ordered that someone be left alive for interrogation.

"laugh!!"

Taking advantage of Victor's distraction, a stream of green venom was spat out of Bris's mouth. Victor had no time to dodge and was hit by the venom.

The moment the dark green venom came into contact with his wizard's robe, it corroded the outer robe completely, emitting wisps of white vapor. Fortunately, the inner garment was engraved with defensive runes, which blocked the venom.

"There's even a giant crocodile with a rotting saliva." Witt was shocked.

"Ugh!! Damn it!"

Enraged, Briss exerted all his strength, shattering the crystal binding him. Briss's muscles bulged, his charred scales opened and closed slightly, and a thick poisonous mist spewed out, enveloping him.

Vittor drank a bottle of qualified intermediate-level antidote, and purple crystals enveloped his entire body, forming a sturdy crystalline armor. He then charged towards Bliss and engaged him in combat.

Purple crystals and red flames intertwined with green poison gas in the sky. Bliss's fist shattered Witt's crystal armor, but it quickly filled back up.

Neither of them could do anything to the other...
