Azu's lips twitched.

"letter."

"However, Your Majesty."

Azu leaned closer to Jessica and whispered in her ear.

"It's too noisy here... Come to my room tonight, and we can check it out slowly."

"roll!!"

Jessica felt like her brain was about to short-circuit.

She gritted her teeth, and to hide her embarrassment, she whirled around and roared at the group of terrorists below:

"What are you looking at?! All of you, die!!"

boom--!

She transformed into a streak of purple light, venting all her shame and anger on those unfortunate souls.

……

Washington, D.C., the Tri-Wing Building.

Alexander Pierce stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his hand holding the whiskey trembling slightly.

His prized "authority" is crumbling.

In his time, controlling public opinion was simple: a phone call to the editor-in-chief of The New York Times, or a few congressmen making a strongly worded statement on the evening news, could turn black into white.

But now, the world has changed.

The real-time data streams from dozens of channels and countless social media platforms crashed down like a colorful avalanche.

The people active on the screen are no longer the solemn news anchors, but countless young people holding mobile phones and recording videos in their own bedrooms.

On YouTube, a video titled "S.H.I.E.L.D. vs. Vought: Who's Lying?" garnered 1.2 million views in just three hours.

In the video, a blogger with green hair edited together Pierce's previous press conference accusing Captain America with a documentary about Steve Rogers during World War II, adding comical music and absurd special effects.

"Hydra Captain? Come on, is this old man senile? When Steve Rogers was beating up Hitler, Pierce was still wearing diapers!"

The comments section below was even more appalling:

"#DisbandS.H.I.E.L.D.# Taking taxpayers' money and then slandering our heroes?"

"Walt is the true god! Look at what Homelander is doing? He's saving people all over the world! And what is S.H.I.E.L.D. doing? Engaging in office politics in Washington!"

"My grandfather is a WWII veteran, and he was so angry after seeing the news that he wanted to smash the TV. Fuck Pierce!"

There are even more outrageous cases.

Instead of publishing an editorial, Walter's Daily Bugle released several "blurry" but suggestive photos.

The photo shows several high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agents making a clandestine deal with some notorious South American warlords.

The caption was just one sentence: "Whose shield is S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

This is not a balanced war of public opinion at all.

This is a massacre.

Vought's PR team doesn't just reason with you; they also create memes and stir up emotions. They turned "anti-S.H.I.E.L.D." into a trend, a form of political correctness.

"Sir."

The Sitwell agent pushed open the door, his face pale, his hand holding the phone trembling slightly.

"The White House is calling...the president is refusing to answer. And our 'friends' in Congress are trying to distance themselves. Just now, three senators announced they will launch an independent investigation into the flow of S.H.I.E.L.D. funds."

"Snapped!"

Pierce crushed the crystal glass in his hand, and the wine mixed with glass shards spilled all over his hand.

He lost.

We lost to this damned internet age.

"This can't go on any longer."

Pierce closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, slowly wiping the blood from the glass cuts on his hands.

His gaze returned to its calm and resolute tone.

"We need to cut our losses."

"Stop the loss?" Sitwell asked, puzzled.

"When a leg becomes gangrenous, you have to cut it off before it poisons the heart."

"This is the price we have to pay."

Pierce walked to his desk and picked up the secure phone.

"Notify the action team to carry out 'Operation Cleaner'."

That afternoon.

An even more exciting press conference was held.

This time, however, the protagonist is not Pierce, but the FBI.

The FBI director announced with a solemn expression: "Following a joint investigation, we have uncovered a shocking infiltration case. Jasper Sitwell, a senior advisor and veteran agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., has been confirmed to be a operative of the terrorist organization Hydra."

In the footage, Sitwell is forced into a police car by two burly detectives. His face is filled with despair and disbelief, as if he only realized at the last moment that he had become the "price" to pay.

"It was this person who forged the false file about Captain Steve Rogers and attempted to incite internal conflict to weaken Earth's defenses..."

Following that, several Hydra strongholds around the world were taken down by S.H.I.E.L.D.

More than a dozen Hydra agents were killed or arrested.

The official S.H.I.E.L.D. Twitter account released a statement: "We are cleaning house. Justice may be delayed, but it will never be denied."

What a ruthless and self-sacrificing scheme!

Although it was embarrassing, at least the S.H.I.E.L.D. brand, though teetering on the brink of collapse, has barely managed to avoid complete disintegration.

And the Hydra dormant teams that had been creating chaos around the world fell silent overnight.

Pierce was furious as he looked at the report in his hand about Homelander's global campaign to combat crime.

He created chaos to force the Security Council to pass the Insight program.

The results of it?

Chaos ensued; instead of seeking his help, the Security Council cried out and begged Vought for assistance.

Every time Homelander saves a city, Vought's market value jumps, and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s budget gets cut.

This isn't a terrorist attack; it's clearly just providing that blond bastard with free background and atmosphere!

"Stop."

Pierce slumped wearily in his chair, looking as if he had aged ten years.

"Make everyone...stop. Stop sending any more orders to Walter."

……

The world suddenly became peaceful.

There were no explosions, no attacks, and even the street robbers seemed to have gone home for Christmas.

Azu was hovering above Syria, looking down at the quiet city below, and smacked his lips with a hint of lingering satisfaction.

"You're already chickening out?"

He originally planned to gain millions of popularity points in the Middle East.

"The Hydra guys' mental fortitude is still too weak; this is nothing compared to what they've achieved so far."

Azu sighed with some regret.

"Never mind, let's go home."

……

New York, JFK International Airport.

This was probably the most crowded day in the history of human aviation.

Tens of thousands of fans broke through the security line, completely surrounding the tarmac.

As the jet-black Gulfstream G650ER pierced through the clouds and slowly descended, cheers even drowned out the roar of the engine.

The hatch opened.

Azu was the first to come out.

A smile that illuminates the whole world adorns his face.

He waved to the crowd, his cloak fluttering in the wind.

Behind him were the members of The Seven.

Jessica Jones tried to keep a straight face, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up in a smile.

She looked at the girls below holding up light boards with her chibi-style portrait on them, and her heart almost melted.

Angela blew a kiss to the camera, eliciting screams from the crowd.

Robbie scratched his head sheepishly.

Pietro Maximov, the former street thug of Sokovia, now wore an exaggerated pair of goggles, hands in his pockets, chewing gum, and walked with an air of arrogance.

"Quicksilver! Quicksilver! I want to do it with you...!!"

A group of girls screamed wildly at him.

Pietro paused for a moment, then took off his goggles, turned his head in that direction, and winked at it with feigned affection.

"oh--!!!"

The decibel level of the screams reached a new high.

Pietro felt his heart pounding because of... this feeling.

This feeling of being needed, worshipped, and treated like a god.

In Sokovia, he was a despised hoodlum as a child and a lab rat as an adult.

And here, in Walter, he is the light.

He glanced instinctively at the man walking at the front.

"This is life..." Pietro murmured to himself.
