Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar

Chapter 122 Thor doesn't eat octopus-head grass.

Asgard, the fairy palace.

Jane Foster sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers tracing lines in the air.

Before her, a holographic star map was slowly rotating. This was a data model of celestial convergence that she had recalibrated using an Asgardian star mapper while she was bored in her hospital bed.

"The gravitational parameters here are wrong..." Jane bit her lip, her brows furrowed, and the light pen in her hand passed through the holographic image. "If it is based on the theory of the overlapping of the nine realms, the Midgard gravitational constant should have a deviation of 0.03%, but the data here is smooth."

"Still working?"

Saul walked in, carrying a basket of golden fruit.

Jane looked up, and the anxiety in her eyes instantly turned into tenderness.

"Thor, I have to go back." Jane turned off the star map and stood up. Her movements were light, and the weakness she had felt from being eroded by the aether particles had completely disappeared.

"Go back where? Earth?" Thor placed the basket on the table, frowning. "Your body has only just recovered, and Asgardian energy hasn't completely eliminated the hidden dangers within you."

"I'm all better now, really. Look!" Jane jumped up and down twice, showing off her slender yet vibrant arms. "And my paper's deadline is only three days away! Three days! I need to go back and input the data from the celestial convergence! This is a Nobel Prize-worthy discovery!"

Thor looked at her and sighed helplessly.

"The pursuits of mortals..." He shook his head, but a doting smile played on his lips. "Alright, if you insist."

Just then, the door to the main hall was pushed open.

Sif strode in, the blade of her sword still stained with blood, clearly having just returned from some unfortunate rebel.

"Thor, Heimdall has made a discovery." Sif's voice was cool and direct, getting straight to the point, "About the escapee."

"An escapee?" Jane asked curiously.

"Lorelei, a banshee." Sif's expression was grim. "The man who bewitched the Nine Kingdoms with her voice six hundred years ago. She escaped the dungeons during the Dark Elf invasion."

"Heimdall spotted her?" Thor's expression turned serious.

“Yes, in Midgard.” Sif glanced at Jane. “She got there through a secret passage left by Loki. Now she’s enjoying her ‘queen’ life in Las Vegas.”

"Damn it." Thor clenched his fists. "The men of Midgard can't resist her sorcery. If we don't stop her, she'll turn the place upside down."

"So I've come to bid farewell to Odin." Sif sheathed her sword. "I'm going to bring her back. It's my duty."

"No."

Thor suddenly raised his hand, interrupting Sif.

"I'll go."

Sif paused for a moment, then raised one eyebrow, her eyes filled with a playful glint that only old acquaintances could understand.

"You're going?" Sif crossed her arms, her gaze shifting between Thor and Jane. "Are you sure, Thor? If I remember correctly, six hundred years ago, you almost threw Mjolnir into the void for that banshee."

Jane's radar went off instantly. She squinted at Thor: "Six hundred years ago? Almost threw the hammer?"

"Ahem!"

Saul coughed violently twice, a blush creeping onto his face. He hurriedly avoided Jane's gaze and turned to glare at Sif.

"That's all in the past! I was young and naive back then!"

"Is that so?" Sif sneered. "Lorelei's charm works on men's weaknesses. Are you sure you can resist the temptation of an 'ex-girlfriend' right now?"

"She's not my ex-girlfriend!" Thor retorted loudly, his voice echoing through the hall. "Besides, I'm immune to her magic!"

He reached out and put his arm around Jane's shoulder, as if to show his determination.

"My heart has already found its home. Lorelei's voice, to me now, is like... like the noise of Heimdall's broken sword scraping against his shield."

Jane blushed slightly at the sudden confession, and the jealousy she had felt earlier dissipated.

"Moreover," Thor said seriously, "to get back to Earth, I must escort her. While I'm at it, I'll capture that banshee—two birds with one stone."

Sif rolled her eyes at the sight, but a barely perceptible hint of melancholy flashed in her eyes.

"Alright, Your Highness." She turned away, not wanting to watch the two of them showing off their affection any longer. "Since you insist on going, then so be it. But don't expect me to come and save you."

"I don't need saving." Thor confidently picked up Mjolnir from the table, weighed it in his hand, and said, "This time, I'll show her that Thor doesn't go back to what he didn't intend to do."

……

Over the Atlantic Ocean.

Tony Stark was holding a bag of dried blueberries and popping them into his mouth one after another.

"Jarvis, fix that damn autopilot. I almost spilled my coffee on my pants when it went through the airflow."

"Sir, that's to avoid the civilian radar below," Jarvis said calmly.

Inside the cabin, there was no tense atmosphere at all; instead, it felt as relaxed as if one were going on a spring outing.

"Seriously, Tony." Hawkeye Barton was reclining in his chair, his eyes slightly narrowed, looking quite relaxed.

"Your new plane has seats with massage functions? Are you planning to turn this place into a mobile spa?"

"This is Stark Industries' human touch, Patton."

"Fighting is tiring enough, why should I mistreat my own backside? Besides, if my back aches on my way to beat someone up, it will affect my aiming accuracy."

He turned his head and looked at Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff sitting opposite him.

Banner was reading a book, a thick, brick-like volume called "Quantum Field Theory," while Natasha whispered beside him. The two were sitting very close, their knees almost touching.

"Hey, Doctor," Tony said, opening a can of Coke, his eyes gleaming with gossip, "You've been staring at the same page in that book for twenty minutes now. What's wrong? Are the formulas too hard to understand? Or... is the scenery just too captivating?"

Banner's face flushed instantly, and he hurriedly closed the book. "I'm thinking, Tony. About... about the energy wavelength of that scepter."

"Okay, Tony." Natasha looked up, a gentle smile in her eyes. Instead of retaliating against Tony Stark as usual, she casually crossed her legs. "We were talking about classical music. Bruce thinks Beethoven is more powerful than Mozart, and I think he's right."

"Oh—classical music." Tony drawled, winking at Patton. "Did you hear that, Fatty? That's what you call high-level flirting. All you ever do is talk about tractor maintenance with Laura."

"Hey! That's romance too!" Barton protested, turning around.

A light laugh rang out in the cabin.

Since the Avengers have become a mere shell of their former selves and gone their separate ways, this long-lost sense of teamwork has made them feel relaxed, and this mission feels more like a reunion of old friends.
