Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar
I remember Chapter 139.
"Ha ha ha ha……"
Lorelei let out a smug laugh.
"Very good. Excellent."
She cupped Tony's face in her hands and left a bright red lipstick mark on his forehead.
"You did a great job, Tony."
"Once I conquer this world, I will appoint you as my chief craftsman."
"It's my pleasure." Tony lowered his head and kissed the back of her hand.
"How much longer?"
"Final energy calibration is still needed," Tony glanced at the data. "About 36 hours."
"Thirty-six hours..."
Lorelei walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked down at the bustling city of New York.
"Then we'll wait another thirty-six hours."
"Enjoy your last bit of freedom, men."
……
Siberia, north of Oymyakon.
This white, desolate land holds countless secrets.
"Bang--!"
With a loud bang, the heavy blast door was blown open from its hinges by TNT and crashed heavily onto the concrete floor inside.
The cold wind, carrying snowflakes, poured into the dark space.
Steve Rogers stepped inside, his vibranium shield still stained with the blood of the Hydra guards outside.
He exhaled a puff of white breath, which quickly condensed into frost in front of his mask.
"Is this the place?"
He glanced back.
Bucky Barnes followed behind him.
Even in this extremely cold place, he was still wearing only a thin tactical vest, his metal left arm reflecting a cold light under the emergency light.
"Yes."
Bucky looked around, his eyes filled with deep fear and disgust.
"I remember this taste."
Bucky twitched his nose, inhaling the unique scent of engine oil and rust in the air.
"This is the first smell I notice every time it thaws."
"Don't think about that." Steve walked over and pressed down hard on Bucky's shoulder. "Right now, you are yourself."
Bucky took a deep breath, nodded, and his eyes returned to calm.
"Let's go. There are still people here."
Like two silent cheetahs, the two quickly cut deep into the base.
This was a battle with no suspense whatsoever.
The Hydra soldiers who remained there were as powerless as a baby crying when faced with the combined forces of Captain America and the Winter Soldier.
A few minutes later.
The last Hydra officer was held aloft by Bucky, who had one hand around his neck.
"Where are they?!" Bucky roared, his mechanical fingers tightening.
"You...can't stop it!" The officer's face turned purple, but his tone remained defiant, "...Hydra..."
"Click."
Bucky didn't give him a chance to finish reciting the slogan and casually threw the body away.
The two took an old-fashioned freight elevator to the depths of the base.
The elevator doors opened.
The huge circular hall was chilly.
The six cryogenic hibernation chambers are arranged in a ring.
Three people were there, and three were empty.
Through the thick glass, you can clearly see the upright, sleeping figure inside.
They were all very strong, and their faces carried a murderous aura even in their sleep.
"This is them."
Bucky walked up to a pod, looking at the figures inside with a complex expression.
"Another Winter Soldier."
"They're stronger than me," Bucky whispered. "No morals, no hesitation."
"Thank goodness they're still asleep." Steve looked around. "Besides, there are other secrets here."
He walked toward the control panel in the center of the hall.
It was an old Soviet-made mainframe computer with a green cursor flashing on the screen.
"Do you still have the decoder Ashley gave you?" Steve asked.
Bucky pulled the black device out of his pocket and tossed it to Steve.
"The answer we're looking for should be here."
Steve plugs the decoder into the interface.
A large amount of data streamed across the screen in an instant.
"Decrypting... Permissions overridden..."
A few seconds later, a list of folders popped up.
The experimental log concerning the "Super Soldier Serum Replication" is filled with records of failures and deaths.
There are also some reports on the Winter Soldier's mission execution.
One folder inexplicably caught Steve's attention.
The filename is a date: 1991.12.16.
Steve's fingers hovered above the keyboard as a sudden, inexplicable chill ran through him.
That date...
"Open it," Baji said from behind him, his voice tense.
Steve pressed the Enter key.
The screen flickered and displayed a task report and a low-resolution surveillance video file.
Mission codename: Long Island Highway.
Executor: Winter Soldier.
Objective: Asset recovery and disposal.
Steve clicked on the video.
The footage is black and white with a lot of noise, and the shooting angle looks like a roadside traffic camera.
A pitch-black highway.
A black, old-fashioned sedan crashed into a tree, smoke billowing from its front.
A motorcycle was parked on the side of the road.
A man with long hair walked over.
He walked to the driver's seat.
A hand reached in and grabbed the hair of an elderly man with gray hair, pulling his head up.
That face...
Steve's pupils suddenly contracted, and his heart felt as if it were being gripped tightly by an icy hand.
Howard Stark.
Tony's father was also his friend.
That friend who always had a small mustache and whose eyes were cunning yet full of wisdom.
In the video, Howard, his face covered in blood, weakly looks at the assassin.
He opened his mouth, but I couldn't hear what he said.
But what answered him was a cold, metallic arm.
"Bang! Bang!"
The Winter Soldier punched with a blank expression; it was pure violence.
Howard's head drooped.
The assassin didn't stop. He walked around the front of the car and headed for the passenger seat.
Maria Stark was sitting there.
The assassin's figure blocked the camera; all that could be seen was him reaching out and making a pinching motion.
A few seconds later, everything returned to calm.
The assassin went to the trunk and took out the boxes containing the super soldier serum.
Then, he pointed his gun at the camera.
Those eyes were cold, empty, and devoid of any humanity.
The video ends.
The snowflakes have taken over the screen again.
Silence fell over the console.
Steve braced his hands on the console, head bowed, knuckles white, breathing heavy and disordered.
Howard and Maria.
They were all his friends from that era.
It is also a pain that Tony will never forget.
And the murderer...
Steve slowly and with great difficulty turned around.
Baji stood there, looking like a sculpture whose soul had been ripped out.
The floodgates of those sealed memories collapsed completely at this moment.
Red blood, white snow, blue serum.
And there was that crisp sound of bones breaking.
"I……"
"I remember."
He looked at Steve, the confusion in his eyes vanished, replaced by pain on his face.
"I remember everything."
"Everyone..."
Steve looked at him, his eyes filled with even more pain than Bucky's.
"Those are... Howard and Maria. Our friends." Steve's voice trembled slightly. "And Tony's parents too."
"I know..." Bucky closed his eyes, "that Iron Man."
"He is your friend."
"Yes," Steve said through gritted teeth, "He's my comrade. He trusts me."
The air freezes.
"You should tell him," Bucky suddenly said, "take this video back and show it to him."
