A long silence fell over the office.

Carol slowly exhaled, suppressing the bitterness in her heart.

She didn't try to defend herself anymore; she knew these rifts couldn't be healed with just a few words.

"I understand, Nick."

Carol's voice was somewhat downcast, and she gave Fury a deep look.

"I'm leaving, but there's one thing I need to know."

"Where are those Skrulls now?" Carol's eyes sharpened. "If they really did what you said, I'll go and settle accounts with them myself."

"I don't need you."

Ah Zu, who had been watching the show from the sidelines, finally spoke up.

He put down his wine glass and placed his hands crossed on the table.

"My sentinel robots are wiping them out globally."

Ah Zu's tone was so calm, as if he were talking about something insignificant.

Carol stared wide-eyed at Azu.

"Cleansing? Globally? This is genocide!"

"Let me correct you," Azu said, holding up a finger and sneering, "That's called pest control."

"You can't do this! There are civilians among them, innocent people!" Carol shouted angrily.

"I gave them a chance to turn themselves in, Captain Danfoss. A full 48 hours."

Azu met Carol's gaze with cold indifference.

"As long as they haven't done anything to harm humanity, and as long as they're willing to remove that sinful shapeshifting ability, I've thoughtfully provided them with a comfortable living area. There's food, beds, and air conditioning. They can live openly and honestly, with far more dignity than if you made them live a life of hiding on Earth."

Azu spread his hands.

"And now, those who dare not report for duty..."

"They hide in the cities, they hide in the mountains. Every one of them has human blood on their hands. They have replaced other people's husbands, wives, and friends. They are all thugs."

"So, it's not unjust for me to die after my robot pierced my head."

"That's called presumption of guilt! In this kind of indiscriminate killing, they have absolutely no chance to defend themselves!"

Carroll straightened his back and spoke sternly.

"Once you get used to solving problems with killing, you'll be no different from the accusers of the Kree Empire!"

"The accuser?"

Azu chuckled.

He got up, walked around the desk, and stood in front of Carroll, silently reciting something to himself.

"Equipment...the heartbreaker."

An invisible aura of charm immediately radiated outwards from Azu.

Azu looked down at Carol and spoke softly.

"You spend years flying through the universe, accustomed to the vastness of the stars. Your moral standards are higher than those of the stars."

"But have you ever looked down at your home planet? Look at the blood in your soil?"

"Those Skrulls don't need to explain themselves. From the moment they chose not to go to the ghetto and chose to remain hidden in human society, they had already made their choice."

Azu pointed out the window in the direction of New York.

"You think I'm cruel? Fine. Go grab any Earthling on the street and ask them if those aliens who disguised themselves as their relatives and took away their lives deserve to die?"

"You can't be everyone's savior, Carol. You can't save both the wolves and the sheep at the same time."

Carroll, who was directly hit by the halo, visibly stiffened for a moment.

Seeing the unwavering determination and resolve to protect humanity in the eyes of the people of her motherland moved her slightly.

Carol suddenly realized that what this man said... was damnably reasonable.

He was just trying his best to protect his fellow countrymen, what's wrong with that?

I didn't realize it when I watched the video of Sovereign Star's release.

Now that they were standing face to face, she was surprised to realize that this man named Homelander... was really charming.

"Damn it! What am I thinking?!"

Carroll suddenly woke up.

She took two steps back as if she had been electrocuted, forcibly averting her gaze to hide the panic in her eyes.

"How...how can you prove everything you said?" Carol's voice was slightly unsteady, but she tried her best to maintain a tough stance.

At this moment, Fury, who was standing to the side with a strange look in his eyes, took over the conversation.

"He is right."

"Those Skrulls who did not harm humans do indeed live in Alaska now. I was in charge there for a time. Humans have not mistreated them and have provided them with everything they need to live."

Fury added coldly, "But they can't live on people's heads. That's the bottom line."

With Fury's endorsement, Carol knew that it was most likely true.

"I will go to Alaska to verify this."

After saying that, Carol turned around and strode towards the office balcony, her steps even a little flustered.

"Bang!"

She transformed into a dazzling streak of light, shooting into the night sky and disappearing in the blink of an eye.

The office fell silent.

Now, only Azu and Nick Fury are left.

"Alright, the savior of the universe is gone." Azu looked at Fury. "What are your plans now, Fury?"

Fury walked up to the bar, picked up a bottle of whiskey without hesitation, and took a swig from the bottle.

"What other plans could there be?" Fury put down the bottle and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

"Now that the Skrull threat has been eliminated, it can be considered that I have put an end to the mistakes I made more than 20 years ago."

"The rest... there's Hydra..."

Fury stopped halfway through his sentence.

His eyes flickered, and looking at Azu's ambiguous smile, he shook his head helplessly.

"Hydra... you probably wiped them out long ago. Or perhaps you incorporated them into your organization?"

Fury knew this man all too well. He possessed terrifying strength and an even more meticulous mind.

How could an organization like Hydra possibly escape his purge?

Fury let out a long sigh.

Without S.H.I.E.L.D. and without the Avengers, the Skrulls were defeated and Hydra was wiped out.

He suddenly realized that the world seemed to no longer need him.

"Perhaps it really is time for me to retire."

Fury leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling.

"This world is changing too fast. My outdated methods are no longer useful. The future is for you young people to explore."

"Oh? You want to retire?"

"That's great. Go enjoy the beach, the sun, and the hot girls."

Azu gave a faint reply. But what he said next made Fury's heart sink.

"Since you're retiring, let's hand over the work."

"Hand over the locations of all those secret safe houses you've built around the world over the years, as well as all those offshore secret accounts you've hidden in the Cayman Islands and Swiss banks."

Fury was stunned.

He thought that Ah Zu would, like those victors, mock him or generously let him go.

But he never expected that the first thing Ah Zu said was to directly rob him of his family's wealth.
