Chapter 541 Contradictions
"Draw lots?" Everyone looked at each other, feeling somewhat unfamiliar with this term.
Because the word "Azu" is spoken in Mandarin.
Tony Stark raised an eyebrow and said, "Dude, is this some kind of casino game? If it's dice, I should remind you, I've been blacklisted in Las Vegas before."
"It means a lottery, a draw, letting fate decide your destiny."
As he spoke, Ah Zu flipped his wrist, and a bamboo skewer holder appeared out of thin air in his palm, with a bunch of bamboo skewers stuck inside.
"What kind of antique is this?" Tony leaned over to take a look.
"I found this in a collapsed building when I was in Hong Kong." Ah Zu casually shook the divination stick container, the bamboo sticks clattering. "I thought it was quite interesting, so I've kept it. Now it's come in handy."
Azu picked out six bamboo sticks from the divination tube and put the rest back into his magic pocket.
"The rules are simple." Azu spread out the six bamboo sticks in his hand. "Of these six bamboo sticks, only one has the two Chinese characters 'Glory' engraved on the bottom. Each person draws one stick, and the person who draws that stick goes to the next round. To be fair, I will draw last."
The group exchanged glances, and no one objected.
Since no one is willing to compromise, leaving the choice to fate is indeed the fairest approach.
Tony pursed his lips and spread his hands: "Alright, since the boss has spoken. Jarvis, calculate the probability for me..."
"Shut up, Tony, just smoke it." Azu handed over the bamboo tube.
Tony reluctantly reached out and randomly pulled out one.
Then I picked it up and looked at the bottom; there was nothing there.
"Looks like luck isn't on my side." He shrugged and stepped aside.
Saul was the second to step forward, his thick fingers carefully pinching a thin skewer, then suddenly pulling it out.
He stared at the bottom for a moment, then snorted in dissatisfaction and broke the blank bamboo stick in two.
He muttered to himself, "Looks like Odin isn't watching me."
The Ancient One smiled slightly, stepped forward and lit a cigarette, but it was still blank.
Next up is Captain America, Steve Rogers.
Steve looked at the bamboo skewer in his hand. At the bottom of the skewer, the two square characters "Glory" were clearly engraved.
He smiled slightly and raised the bamboo skewer.
"It seems I am the chosen one." Steve looked up at the crowd.
Seeing this, everyone sighed helplessly, but could only accept the outcome.
"Good luck, Captain." Tony walked up and patted Steve on the shoulder. "Don't let those aliens look down on Earthlings."
"Captain, we must beat them to a pulp!" Peter clenched his fist and shouted encouragement.
"Give them your all, Rogers. Let them witness the glory of Midgard's strongest warrior," Thor encouraged.
"Isn't Homelander the strongest warrior on Earth?" Peter corrected.
Thor smiled mysteriously and remained silent.
He thought to himself, "That's our Asgardian god, my own brother."
Amidst the cheers and shouts of the crowd, Steve Rogers, carrying the vibranium shield, strode towards the teleportation platform.
The giant holographic screen in the arena suddenly lit up.
The Grandmaster's excited voice once again resounded throughout the arena.
"Ladies and gentlemen! You galactic bastards! Open your eyes wide and prepare for the second brutal battle!"
On the large screen, two visually striking photos lit up side by side.
On the left is Captain America, holding a vibranium shield with a resolute gaze.
On the right is a tall, cold-faced alien female warrior, Proxima Midnight.
She held a uniquely shaped three-edged spear in her hand.
"An incredible duel!" The Grandmaster exclaimed excitedly in the center of the screen, "On one side is the Black Order's infamous, ruthless assassin, wielding a three-edged spear capable of piercing any defense!"
"On the other side is a renowned super soldier on Earth, wielding an invincible shield said to withstand all attacks!"
"Everyone, this is not only a battle of life and death, but also the ultimate showdown between the strongest spear and the strongest shield!"
The gamblers in the stands went wild again, their deafening roars seeming to lift the dome of the sky.
Because of Red Hood's victory in the first round, those crazy cosmic gamblers bet their entire fortunes on Proxima Midnight.
As one of Thanos' Black Order, she was already infamous throughout the universe.
"Next, terrain selection!" The Grandmaster waved his hand.
Dozens of terrain options reappeared on the screen, and the vote count began to scroll rapidly.
Interface locked.
"Terrain confirmed! The location for this event is... Gravitational Turbulence - Shattered Star Floating Island!" the Grandmaster announced loudly.
As he finished speaking, the environment in the center of the arena began to change dramatically.
The once flat floor instantly collapsed and disintegrated, plunging into a bottomless, pitch-black void.
Immediately afterwards, countless rocks of varying sizes appeared out of thin air and slowly floated in the void.
They are like meteorite belts floating in the universe, moving and colliding aimlessly in mid-air.
There is no sky here, nor is there ground.
Gravity is distorted here, and each of the floating islands has its own independent gravitational field.
Some floating islands are pulled upwards by gravity, some downwards, and some are even constantly rotating.
In this place, there are no fixed footholds, and if you are not careful, you will be swallowed by the bottomless abyss below.
This means that during a fight, the athlete must precisely calculate the landing point of each jump and the allocation of stamina.
A flash of teleportation light appeared.
Proxima Midnight and Steve landed on two separate floating islands of rubble, about a dozen meters apart.
As soon as Steve's feet touched the ground, he felt a change in gravity beneath his feet, and his body became much heavier than usual.
He immediately raised his shield high, his eyes fixed intently on the enemy ahead.
On the other side, Dark Night, standing slightly higher on the floating island where Proxima Centauri stood, looked down at Steve.
When she saw that Steve was just an ordinary human being from Earth, she couldn't help but feel a sense of disdain.
"These are the warriors you've chosen?" Proxima Midnight scoffed. "A fragile creature carrying an iron plaque and wearing a ridiculous bodysuit?"
She shook her head, seemingly bored with the fight.
"Father will purify this universe, and you are nothing but insignificant specks of dust. I will cut off your head immediately and end this farce."
"I've heard similar things before," Steve replied coldly. "Usually, people who say these things end up in jail."
Proxima Midnight's expression darkened.
Having followed Thanos across the universe for so many years, she had never been so defied by humans from a lowly planet.
"Arrogant reptile!" Proxima Midnight roared in fury. "I'll nail your confidence and your heart to the abyss!"
