Become a Homelander and a Marvel superstar

Chapter 9 Hero or the Next Tyrant?

A piercing, metallic, distorting sound.

The fully loaded bus crashed into his fair palm as if it had struck an unshakeable mountain.

The front of the car visibly collapsed rapidly, the engine was destroyed on the spot, and Wu Yanzu... didn't even have his hair messed up.

He even had the leisure to flash a standard eight-tooth smile at the terrified passengers in the car.

"Is everyone alright?"

He casually "torn open" the car door, picked up the driver like a chick, and put him on the ground.

"Ding! You have gained 54 popularity points!"

"Ding! You have gained 31 popularity points!"

"Ding! You have gained 36 popularity points!"

……

"It's better than nothing..." Wu Yanzu thought to himself, pursing his lips.

……

Three more days have passed, and it's 2 PM.

"Robbery! Someone's robbing a bank!!"

A black Dodge Warrior roared out of the bank, the robbers inside firing wildly with automatic weapons, suppressing the arriving NYPD.

"Get out of here! All of you, get the fuck out of here!"

"We have heavy firepower! Anyone who doesn't want to die..."

boom--!!!

A loud bang.

The three robbers didn't even see what happened.

"Boss... what's that in the sky?"

The lead robber looked up in confusion, then burst into a tirade: "Shit! It's that freak in the cape! Open fire! Kill him!"

"Da da da da da—!!!"

Three AR-15s simultaneously unleashed a barrage of fire, a dense rain of 5.56mm bullets raining down on the figure descending from the sky.

"Ding...ding...dong...dong..."

All the bullets bounced off Ah Zu's body the instant they touched him, falling helplessly to the ground.

"Demon...devil..."

"Go on," Wu Yanzu said with a smile, beckoning them with his finger.

"Fuck!! Die!!" The leader of the robbers broke down and pulled the trigger, trying to fire all his bullets.

"Sizzle—"

A faint red light shone in Wu Yanzu's eyes.

The next second, two precise heat beams instantly swept across the weapons in the hands of the three robbers.

"Sizzle—!"

The high temperature instantly turned the metal parts of the firearms red-hot.

"Aaaaaaaahh ...

The leader of the robbers let out a scream that sounded inhuman.

The AR-15 was instantly melted by the intense heat of the thermal vision! The molten steel and plastic... stuck directly to his hands!

"My hand! My hand!!!" Robber A looked at his hand, which had turned into a mixture of charred metal, and rolled around on the ground frantically.

The other two robbers were so terrified that they immediately threw their half-melted gun on the ground, raised their hands, and knelt down.

"Don't kill me! We surrender! We surrender!!"

Wu Yanzu withdrew his gaze with satisfaction.

"That's right."

He floated down from the sky, his Stars and Stripes cape spreading gracefully behind him.

The police had just arrived and were stunned by what they saw.

Homelander!!

"Oh my god! He's so cool!"

"I love you, Homelander!!"

Fans and reporters swarmed around.

"Keep order, everyone." Wu Yanzu immediately switched back to "Perfect Hero" mode, a warm smile on his face.

He skillfully struck a pose with his hands on his hips and posed for photos with several excited female fans.

"Mr. Homelander! What's your opinion on this robbery?" A reporter squeezed in.

"I'm glad the citizens of New York City haven't been harmed," Wu Yanzu said sternly to the camera. "But I must also remind those potential criminals... with me here, your good days are over."

"Ding! You have gained 1250 popularity points!"

"Ding! You have gained 825 popularity points!"

"Ding! You have gained 762 popularity points!"

……

"Ding! Strength slightly increased!"

Feeling the warm current flowing into his body again, Wu Yanzu comfortably closed his eyes.

Four o'clock in the afternoon, Queens.

"Meow...meow..."

On a tall oak tree, a tabby cat was clinging to a branch, shivering.

Under the tree, a little girl with pigtails was on the verge of tears.

"Mimi! Come down here quickly, Mimi!"

"Sweetie, don't cry, we'll find the firefighters..."

"No need, ma'am."

A gentle voice came from above.

The mother and daughter looked up and saw the figure bathed in sunlight, like a deity.

Ah Zu landed slowly, reached out his hand, and the "Mimi" that had been struggling desperately just moments before obediently lay down and licked his glove with its tongue.

He landed in front of the little girl, holding the cat, and crouched down with his tall body.

"Is it yours, sweetheart?"

"...Yes." The little girl was stunned.

"Here you go." He handed the cat over. "Keep an eye on it from now on; it's very scared."

"...Thank you, Mr. Homelander!" The little girl looked at him with admiration.

"Wow, he even rescued a kitten!"

"That's a true hero!"

The neighbors then started snapping photos with their phones.

Ding! You have gained 920 popularity points!

Ding! You have gained 1152 popularity points!

Ding! You have gained 1163 popularity points!

……

Wu Yanzu thought to himself, "Fucking cat! They even bother with this kind of trashy popularity. But... it seems quite effective. Popularity is actually comparable to cracking down on robbers? This amazing country."

However, just when Wu Yanzu thought he was about to become the "Most Popular Person in New York", negative numbers appeared one after another in the system notification.

"Ding! You have gained 15 popularity points."

"Ding! You have gained 40 popularity points."

"Ding! You have gained 22 popularity points."

Wu Yanzu was sunbathing in the rooftop pool of the apartment when he suddenly opened his eyes.

"Um?"

"Popularity is declining... though not by much, it's very stable."

He frowned; this was not a good sign.

He casually scrolled through social media on his phone. Soon, he found the source…

Wu Yanzu looked at the headline news on his tablet and laughed in anger.

The Daily Bugle: "Are Homelanders heroes or the next tyrant?"

New York Post: "Devil in Stars and Stripes: Does Homelander's Power Need Regulation?"

Fox News (Special Commentator): "We don't need a god to tell us how to cross the street! He destroyed half a building while fighting a fire yesterday! Who's going to pay for it?"

He picked up the remote and turned on the TV.

On the screen, a man with a neatly square mustache and an agitated expression was roaring:

"...He's a threat! A threat wearing the national flag!!"

The man's left hand was pointing at a high-resolution photograph.

The photo shows the robber whose hand was "welded" by thermal imaging. He is being carried away by paramedics; his hand is now completely useless.

"Look at this! A hero?!" Jameson's spittle seemed to leap off the screen. "Would a real hero do this?! This is lynching! This is torture! This is abuse!"

"And this too!"
