Chapter 144 Thanks
Chapter 144 Thanks
"This idea is feasible!"
Master Camille jumped off the bench, pinched his chin, and started spinning around in place.
This seems to be a unique way of thinking for him.
I like to think as I walk.
"No! I can't wait any longer!" Master Camille grabbed the still-brush-ink drawings from the table. "I'm going to talk to Coleman right now! We need to apply for another round of funding!"
After saying that, he ran out.
After running halfway, she seemed to come to her senses and turned to Alphonse, saying, "This magic train is your invention. If it succeeds, I will recommend it to Her Majesty the Queen!"
"Thank you." This was exactly what Alphonse wanted.
As expected, the masters of the Alchemy Department are all intellectuals of high moral character who would not take credit for their work.
Master Camille was very impatient. Without saying another word, he took off running upstairs on his short legs.
With him gone, Alphonse also had some free time.
It's not good to wander around in this magic tower.
Alphonse didn't want to interrupt Hilde's "sweet" time.
So he picked up paper and pen again and started drawing sword technique diagrams.
He had said that he would teach Dean a sword technique, and that he couldn't just abandon the matter because Master Coleman had taken over his business.
Ultimately, it was because he beat someone up that he ended up in this situation.
The Sword Demon Sect has a considerable collection of sword manuals, so teaching one of them wouldn't be a big problem.
Anyway, it wasn't about teaching him the Sword Demon Sect's unique sword techniques.
After thinking for a moment, Alphonse chose a sword technique called "Thirteen Forms of Eagle Transformation".
This sword technique is unconventional and full of unexpected moves, making it a rather exquisite sword art.
Alphonse wasn't good at painting, but it didn't need to be a perfect likeness. A general human outline, arrows to indicate the direction of the movements, and detailed annotations of the specific sword moves would suffice for Deans to understand.
Alphonse had just finished drawing a set of "Thirteen Forms of Eagle Transformation" when he heard footsteps.
The magic tower was very quiet. The laboratories and other rooms seemed to be soundproofed. However, Alphonse was still able to distinguish the sounds of people moving between floors and going up the stairs thanks to his keen senses.
You can tell that there were two people going up the stairs.
One of them walked unsteadily, his steps were heavy, and he was breathing heavily.
The other person walked much more lightly.
It's easy to imagine that Hilde must have expended a lot of energy, and his current condition is unlikely to be good.
The sound was getting closer. Alphonse looked up and saw Hilde, who was drenched in sweat, and Chloe, who was slightly sweaty and had a flushed face, standing at the top of the stairs.
"Why are you back so soon? Why don't you stay and play a little longer?"
"Senior Hilde is already very tired." Chloe was genuinely embarrassed. "I wanted to let him try, but he refused, saying I couldn't support him, so I couldn't help but ride a little longer."
As she spoke, a blush rose to her cheeks.
Alphonse was taken aback; Kroos seemed a little shy.
But thinking about it, Hilde shouldn't be so eager to do something inappropriate, right?
If he had done that, Chloe wouldn't have treated him this way.
"I'm not tired yet!" Hilde puffed out her chest. "I can still manage, it's just that I'm worried Alphonse will have to wait too long."
Ugh, they're using me as an excuse again.
Alphonse didn't seem to care about that.
"Where's my teacher?" Chloe asked.
"I gave him an idea, and he went to discuss it with Master Coleman," Alphonse replied truthfully.
"Oh." Chloe nodded.
"Junior Chloe, why don't you go back and rest early? If Master Camille starts debating with my mentor, who knows how late it will go on," Hilde suggested.
"I'm not going to rest that early either. I'll go back to the lab to check on the cleaning and wait for the professor to come back." Chloe seemed a little embarrassed to stay there and politely declined Hilde's suggestion.
"Then I'll take Alphonse to get his thank-you gift. See you tomorrow," Hilde said immediately.
"Okay." Chloe said goodbye to Alphonse again before heading towards the laboratory.
After watching her enter the lab and close the door, Alphonse turned to Hilde and asked, "Any progress?"
Hilde grinned and chuckled. "She tripped and fell, but I caught her with my body."
No wonder Chloe looked so strange.
"You're something else, kid," Alphonse joked.
Judging from Hilde's wide smile, it's likely that the wrestling was intentional on his part.
He's quite good at it.
They found an opportunity for close contact.
"Let's go upstairs." Hilde had already noticed the drawings on the table, which depicted some strangely posed little figures, but since they weren't blueprints for a new invention, he wasn't very interested.
"Wait a little longer, it's almost finished." Alphonse buried himself in his drawing again.
"Why are you drawing this?" Hilde asked curiously.
"I told Deans I would teach him a sword technique," Alphonse replied without looking up.
Hilde didn't wait around either, and began casting a cleansing spell.
In the blink of an eye, the sweat covering his head and body had vanished without a trace.
His face was still somewhat pale.
As an alchemist, he doesn't train often, so it's normal that he's a bit physically weak.
After Alphonse finished drawing, Hilde took him to the top floor.
This floor is reserved exclusively for Master Coleman.
However, one room had a "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging outside.
In the laboratory, only one student was seen sitting in a corner reading a book.
Presumably, it was in that room that Master Coleman discussed matters with Master Kalmi.
Upon seeing Hilde bring her people in, the student quickly stood up and greeted them.
The laboratory was spacious and bright, with neat and clean alchemy workbenches and arcane workbenches inscribed with magic arrays, and various profound and precious books and scrolls were placed in categories on large bookshelves against the wall.
Not far from the student, there was a "冂"-shaped device made of a huge silver-white metal pillar, which was emitting a "hissing" sound.
The horizontal cylinder was connected by a pipe, leading to the outside.
On the two standing metal pillars, strange runes continued to flash, and the engraved lines also shimmered with light, connecting one node after another.
It has a cyberpunk feel to it.
"This is the activated carbon production device that my mentor improved. The heating is all done inside," Hilde said, pointing to the device.
"Pretty good," Alphonse nodded.
The activated carbon was definitely stored in a horizontal metal column, and the scorching steam was also vented to the outside, which was much better than the rudimentary contraption I had made before.
Hilde mentioned it casually, walked to the metal cabinet by the wall, channeled her magic, opened the magic lock, and took out three test tube-shaped metal tubes and a crystal bottle.
"This is my thank-you gift for you."
