Chapter 145 Invitation

"Is this a potion?" Alphonse had no intention of refusing; after making an investment, it was only right to receive some return.

The purple liquid in the crystal bottle doesn't look like wine or perfume.

Those three metal tubes probably contained potions or something similar; Hilde seemed to have mentioned that her teacher researched potions.

At the very least, you should ask what it's for.

"These three tubes contain a new potion concocted by my mentor that can quickly promote the healing of injured areas," Hilde explained, waving the metal test tubes in her hand.

"For external use? It heals instantly when applied to a wound?" Alphonse asked curiously. He had seen it many times in Western fantasy novels and comics, and quite a few in games, but this was the first time he had seen it in real life.

"What are you thinking? It can only help you recover quickly, but it still takes some time to heal. If it could make you completely healed in an instant, then it would be a miracle drug." Hilde curled her lip and handed the item in her hand to Alphonse as she continued, "Potions can only speed up the healing process. They are also effective when taken internally. If you have internal injuries, this can be used to save your life in a critical moment."

Alphonse then understood what was going on.

That's rather amazing.

This other world lacks advanced medical knowledge, yet alchemists can use potions to achieve rapid treatments without even considering the risk of microbial infection.

Taking the metal test tube and crystal bottle, Alphonse couldn't help but ask again, "Are the ingredients for this potion very expensive?"

Hilde nodded. "Of course, it uses precious medicinal herbs, requires many processes, and also needs to be infused with magic. After filtering out impurities with activated charcoal, the efficacy is even better."

If it's expensive, it won't be widely available.

Alphonse shook his head. No wonder ordinary people can't afford potions.

"What about the one in this bottle?"

Alphonse raised the crystal bottle containing the purple liquid.

The potion in this bottle alone, plus the potions in those three metal test tubes combined, probably doesn't amount to that much.

Hilde stated directly, "This is a new potion I invented that can dissolve ordinary fabrics without harming hair or skin."

Alphonse was taken aback. Wasn't this the potion that could remove other people's clothes from the ruined Frilian?

"I never expected you, who usually seems so serious, to actually come up with this kind of aphrodisiac. Tsk tsk tsk!"

"Can't you think straight!" Hilde shook her head helplessly, giving him a look that said, "How could you even think of that?" "This is a medicine that can aid in treatment. Think about it, if the injury is serious, the congealed blood will cause the skin and clothing to stick together, right? When you get burned, the ash from your clothes will also stick to the wound, right? That's when this medicine comes in handy. It's very effective in cleaning the wound and then applying treatment."

Alphonse was taken aback; he had indeed misunderstood.

Hilde suddenly leaned closer, covered her mouth with the back of her hand, and lowered her voice, "Of course, you can use this potion to play with the opposite sex, it'll just wear out your clothes."

Alphonse could only laugh awkwardly; he had only himself to think of the other side of the story.

However, wouldn't any man who sees such a potion easily have impure thoughts?

Having accepted the gift, Alphonse didn't intend to linger any longer. He gave Hilde the sword technique manual of "Thirteen Forms of Eagle Transformation" and asked him to pass it on to Deans. Then he boarded the Alchemy Division's carriage and embarked on his journey home.

It was late at night when we returned to the royal inn.

Alphonse had just reached the door of the room.

She immediately sensed the movement in Mia's room next door and quickly approached the door.

The door opened, and Mia appeared behind it.

He asked casually, "Why are you back so late?"

"I went to Violet Academy to deliver clothes to Earl Wolf's son and happened to run into Hilde. We chatted for a while," Alphonse replied casually, then teased, "Are you so concerned about my whereabouts? Are you afraid I'll go out and have a good time?"

Mia, with a stern face, said, "As a knight of the Frostwind Territory, and having promised Lady Mary to protect your safety, isn't it normal for me to pay a little more attention to you?"

Alphonse didn't dwell on the question, instead asking, "Did you have fun out with Midio and Tessie today?"

"It's alright, Midio is quite happy," Mia replied calmly. "The sword you gave me has been enchanted, and the armor and battle axe I got from the ruins have also been repaired. Also, Midio's wand will take some time to make, probably a day or two."

"There's no rush, and we don't need to be in such a hurry to return to Coldwind Territory." Alphonse smiled. "Since we've come all this way to the capital, let Midio have some fun."

"There's something else important. An invitation has arrived from the palace, inviting you and me to a banquet tomorrow night." Mia handed the invitation to Alphonse.

banquet?

Alphonse was somewhat surprised. Why would the Queen hold a banquet for no reason?

I took the invitation and glanced at it; it didn't explain the reason for its existence.

Alphonse certainly didn't think the banquet was for him; he was just a minor lord on the frontier.

It's not enough for Queen Junoun to treat us with such courtesy.

I had just seen the Queen that evening, and she hadn't mentioned this matter.

She probably wanted to organize a "team building" event and have herself participate.

They even invited Mia, which is quite something.

"Get some rest, goodnight." Seeing Alphonse return, Mia felt a little more at ease. Without waiting for Alphonse's reply, she turned and went back to her bedroom.

Alphonse could only say "Goodnight" to the closed door; Mia should be able to hear him.

This guy, he rushed out so quickly when he heard me coming back, but as soon as he came out, he had a long face.

Tsk~~

The following day, Alphonse made a trip to the parliament in the morning.

With the Queen's prior notice, the review and self-defense process proceeded smoothly without any major incidents.

There were very few noble officials participating in the deliberation.

Since Count Mujik and his family had all died suddenly and the plaintiff was gone, the matter was naturally dropped.

As for Baron Aldrich's accusation against Alphonse for charging sewage fees, Alphonse was acquitted in court.

It took a lot of time and was just a formality.

Alphonse even wondered if the Senate was dissatisfied with the Queen's decree and wanted to deliberately humiliate him.

Otherwise, why would I make a special trip to the capital for something so trivial?

As soon as he left the courtroom, Alphonse sensed that the atmosphere on the street was quite strange.

I didn't notice it when I went out this morning.

Red carpets have now been laid out on the wide main road, and every ten meters or so along the way, guards with long guns control and restrain the people in the surrounding area, preventing them from stepping onto the road.

It seems they are preparing to welcome some important person.
