Chapter 240 The Strange Bard
Alphonse didn't believe Master Godin had that ability at all; if he could, he wouldn't have been chased all the way by that demon.
It can't possibly be like that of Naluguna, possessing magic that can banish people, can it?
Perhaps it's necessary to make arrangements in advance?
Unable to figure it out, Alphonse didn't bother to think about it further.
The less trouble, the better.
With ample magic crystals as energy, Master Godin spent half a day setting up a teleportation magic circle.
Without further ado, it bid farewell to Theon and the others, and led Alphonse into the magic circle.
Alphonse couldn't understand the ancient and mysterious array of runes and the circular arrangement of the devices.
The magic crystal has been embedded.
As Master Godin began chanting the incantation.
All the magic crystals in the magic circle shone brightly, and runes lit up one after another, followed by the surrounding lines.
Immediately, chains formed from runes appeared out of thin air in the void.
As the light and shadow flickered, the surrounding scenery suddenly changed.
Alphonse felt as if he had passed through a tunnel filled with chaotic mist, with countless lights and shadows flashing past around him.
This is different from the last time he was exiled by Suguna.
This time, the feeling is much deeper.
There was no discomfort caused by spatial teleportation; everything changed instantly.
When the surrounding scenery stabilized, we found ourselves in a wasteland.
In the distance lies the border of Fantalia, with its black, decaying soil.
And beyond that land, the endless yellow sand stretches as far as the eye can see.
They were teleported to the border of Fantalia, but not to the area from which Alphonse and his dark elves had emerged.
They could only follow Master Godin, searching along the border of Fantalia.
Master Godin also knows the magic of flight.
This saved a lot of trouble.
Along the way, they also saw the guards dispatched by the Kingdom of Izmir, who had set up tents and were exploring the borders of Fantalia.
However, they only dared to investigate the outskirts and did not venture deep into the desert.
Although it took several days to find the forest, it still saved a lot of time compared to rushing back from the Red Forest Party stronghold.
The woods have changed dramatically.
The Dark Elves used the surrounding forest as a barrier, felled trees inside, built many wooden houses, and used wooden pillars to make fences to enclose the area, forming a sizable camp.
Looking down from high above, Alphonse noticed something strange: in an open area surrounded by wooden houses, a human who looked like a bard was playing a harp leisurely and singing loudly.
Dark elves and half-demons sat around him, listening quietly to his performance.
Unexpectedly, they found a way to entertain themselves in just a few days.
Being able to coexist peacefully with people from the outside world is a good omen.
Alphonse descended gracefully, and upon hearing the bard's song, he was momentarily stunned.
The music was somewhat melancholic, but still quite beautiful. The bard's voice was also very magnetic, and his singing was extremely infectious, making people immediately realize how good his voice was.
It's easy to tell the difference: there's a huge difference between someone who sings well and someone who's tone-deaf or just at karaoke level.
However, the lyrics he sang were truly unexpected.
What he sang was, "...Foolish king, you are ruining this country! Drink the blood of the farmers, eat the flesh of the merchants! Sweat before your throne for my feast, and when the feast is over, I will reap your heads!"
"Alphonse!" Sera jumped up in surprise.
"Your Excellency, the Saint!"
The group of dark elves and half-demons stood up and bowed in greeting.
Somewhat unexpectedly, when Alphonse went to find someone to treat the Pope and the others, he brought back a giant wolf instead.
Could this wolf be the medicine? Should we boil it?
Alphonse, however, stared intently at the bard, a sense of unease creeping into his heart for some reason.
The bard had stopped playing, and the song had ceased.
He stood up, removed the hat with a white feather in it, and bowed slightly in a graceful gesture of removing his hat.
But in that instant, Alphonse sensed that all the noise around him seemed to have fallen silent.
But time hadn't stopped; the dark elves around him were still opening and closing their mouths, but Alphonse seemed to have already stopped hearing their voices.
The five senses were affected!
Not only hearing, but everyone around seemed to become blurry, and it was even difficult to perceive their existence through spiritual sense. They seemed to be getting further and further away.
But the bard's momentum was rapidly increasing.
Previously, he only sensed that this handsome and sunny bard was just an ordinary person with no strength to even kill a chicken. Now, however, he seemed like a terrifying beast that wanted to devour people!
His fangs were bared, revealing his ferocity!
Those around Alphonse didn't sense anything amiss, including Sera, who only noticed Alphonse staring intently at the weak human who spent his days chanting in the camp.
For some reason, no one felt he was an enemy. He seemed harmless, and his music always brought peace of mind and could quickly relieve fatigue.
So no one drove him away.
Vitina, however, sensed something was wrong. She flashed away and nimbly leaped over the wooden fence.
Alphonse sensed no murderous intent or hostility; he only knew that the bard was scrutinizing him.
His power was immense; his mere aura gave Alphonse a feeling no less than that of Kasobia, who had once blocked the border of Fantalia.
Master Godin's pupils rippled unconsciously as he noticed Alphonse's unusual expression and instinctively used his Soul Eye to examine the bard not far away.
The bard smiled slightly, breaking the silence with a slow, enigmatic tone, "Good day. You are the Saint Alphonse that these dark elves and half-demons speak of? In my opinion, your strength is far from sufficient to defeat the Lord of the Barrier—Cassobia of Twilight. I'm truly curious, how did you manage that? Ah!"
Before he could finish speaking, he let out a scream that pierced the sky, and jumped three feet high. He didn't know where to put his hands, and with his fingers twisted in a delicate gesture, he leaped away, even throwing his harp away.
She screamed in terror, "Ah!!! Throw that bug away! Don't come near me!"
The imposing aura vanished instantly, and the heavy pressure disappeared without a trace. Alphonse stared in astonishment at the scene unfolding before him.
What startled the powerful bard into retreating in panic was a large, fat green worm, about the thickness of a finger, that Vitina held up in front of him, still wriggling.
Master Godin let out a near-groan, a murmur, "Dragon...Observer?!" (End of Chapter)
