Chapter 241 Dragon Clan
Master Godin's words were clearly audible not only to Alphonse beside him, but also to the surrounding dark elves and half-demons.
They couldn't help but look at the bard who was terrified and was running away screaming.
He's actually a dragon?
The legendary, incredibly powerful dragon race is actually afraid of a tiny insect?
The dark elves and half-demons had seen the bard frightened before, and it wasn't the first time. They simply regarded him as an ordinary human and would never associate him with dragons.
In the blink of an eye, Alphonse had reached a conclusion.
This dragon, which had transformed into a bard, should not have any ill intentions; otherwise, it alone would have been enough to suppress all the dark elves and half-demons present.
"Vitina, stop fooling around, throw that bug away!"
As a saint certified by the Dark Church's Pope Sharibel and the benefactor who led the Dark Elves out of Fantalia, Alphonse was naturally obeyed by Vitina.
Sera quickly defended her best friend, "Vitina must have sensed that Edson wanted to do something to you, so she caught a bug to scare him."
"Ederson?!"
Alphonse froze on the spot. Wasn't this a fictional character he had just come up with at random, or was it borrowed from Dr. Chen's English name from his previous life?
Is it really just a coincidence that this dragon has this name, or is it fate that made me think of this name?
Otherwise, why didn't he name the fictional bard JAY when he made it up on the spot, since he's a fan of Jay Chou?
Sera, however, thought Alphonse was still dissatisfied and muttered, "It's quite interesting to see his reaction every time he gets scared by bugs. Who would have thought he'd be a dragon?"
"I'm not blaming Vitina," Alphonse said, putting his arm around Sera's waist to comfort her. He then turned to Master Godin and asked, "And what about the Observer?"
"In ancient legends, whenever demons appeared in a place, dragons would go to investigate. Therefore, these dragons who walk in the world and hide among people are called observers," Master Godin explained.
As they were talking, the dragon bard named Edson had already slipped back. Being scared away by a tiny insect clearly made him quite uncomfortable, and he awkwardly tried to explain, "I wasn't afraid of the insect, I just found such creatures disgusting. Just thinking about it crawling across my skin gives me the creeps."
Alphonse didn't mind him trying to justify himself. "So you're the Dragon Observer? What's your purpose in coming here?"
Edson pressed a hand to his chest. His identity had been exposed, and he no longer intended to hide it. "Please allow me to introduce myself again. I am Edson Austerz Ivanora Trof Sukovale Alexandro Canopus Gilbart Oberlein of the Dragon Clan."
Alphonse: "."
Who can remember such a long name?
If this were in a novel, readers would criticize it for padding the word count!
"Just call me Edson. Observer is just a name given to us dragons by various races in the mortal world. As for our wandering in this world, it is for other reasons. In addition, the demons are our dragons' mortal enemies. If they were to resurrect, they would bring disaster to the entire continent. Therefore, it is only natural for us to go and investigate when they appear."
Edson paused for a moment. "You should be able to guess why I'm here. The mist barrier on the border of Fantalia has disappeared, and the half-demons have returned to the outside world. It's such a big deal that I have to come and see. I also need to observe whether the half-demons will cause harm to the various races outside, and whether they are still as bloodthirsty as before. If so, we need to clean them up."
"So, what's your conclusion now?" Alphonse asked.
Edson smiled. "They are friendlier than I expected. They are no longer associated with the traitors who once sided with the demons. Clearly, they intend to coexist peacefully with the various races outside. Moreover, even the artifact with the name 'Temperance' has recognized a dark elf as its master. This is obviously the will of the gods, and we dragons will not interfere. What is more noteworthy is you!"
"Erzizangus told me that you are the favored one of the gods of the underworld, and that you subdued the demonic artifact 'Pride' Falbencus. It was because you defeated Kasobia, the lord of the barrier that sealed off Fantalia, that the half-demons were able to leave the border."
The dark elves and half-demons all knew that Alphonse carried the magic sword Falbencus, so they didn't take Edson's words to heart.
Master Godin was taken aback, his wolf eyes widening as he stared at Alphonse, asking in astonishment, "Lord Alphonse, is that the Demon Sword Falbunkus? The weapon of the King of Turmoil, Vargab?"
Before Alphonse could answer, the Demon Sword roared, "It's me! What's your problem with that?"
"Aren't you a greatsword?" Master Godin asked in shock. He had never heard Alphonse mention this before and only thought that the magic sword was a weapon that had given birth to a sword spirit.
"You think I won't change?" the Demon Sword retorted without hesitation.
"Shut up," Alphonse stopped the demon sword's rant.
"Yes!" The Demon Sword reluctantly stopped speaking.
Master Godin's admiration for Alphonse grew even stronger. How could someone who could subdue the demon sword care about worldly power?
Edson stared at Alphonse and continued, "Falbancus was sealed in that underground cave by our dragon race. From you, I can sense the aura of the guardian earth dragon, Feyal, who guarded the seal. If I'm not mistaken, it should have died at your hands."
Alphonse felt a sudden tightness in his chest. He had not only killed the earth dragon Fiar, but also eaten its flesh and bathed in its blood. It was only natural that he would be tainted by its scent.
"Do you want to avenge it?"
If Edson wanted to make a move, he certainly wouldn't just sit there and be killed. He would have to fight him, and even if he couldn't win, he should at least be able to escape.
The only concern is this group of dark elves.
His own woman, Sera, was among them.
As soon as Alphonse said this, all the dark elves and half-demons gripped their weapons and glared menacingly at Edson.
Alphonse was their great benefactor. If it weren't for Alphonse, they would have lived underground their whole lives and would never have been able to come to the outside world.
Sera's gaze wandered to the outside of the wooden fence. The little bug had already been crushed to death by Vitina, but there were plenty of such bugs in this forest. Edson had this weakness, which could be used to his advantage.
She didn't want Alphonse to get hurt in any way. (End of Chapter)
