Wizard: I crush legends with martial arts.
Chapter 260 Unexpected Reaction
"This mountain range is protected by a complex magical barrier," Master Godin said in a deep voice. "Sensory interference, illusion magic, and anti-flight magic are all combined and cover such a vast area. No wonder it's the place where legendary powerhouses live in seclusion!"
Complex magic can only do so much, but it cannot cover such a large area.
Alphonse possessed the Crimson Fiery Eyes, which prevented him from being misled by illusions. He was unaffected by anything and saw the true face of this mountain range.
After hearing Master Godin's words, Mia finally understood what was going on.
"Good eye!" Edson praised, landing on the ground. His massive body then rapidly shrank, transforming into human form.
"Why do you still need to transform into human form?" Alphonse asked curiously as he landed gracefully.
"Because there are other magical restrictions in the mountains, a body that is too large would be subject to greater limitations, making it less convenient than a human form," Edson replied casually. After briefly assessing the surroundings, he stepped out and said, "Follow me."
As soon as they entered the mountains, Mia couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.
Only then did she realize that what was in front of her was an incredibly tall mountain.
The previously silent magic sword Falbancus suddenly sent a telepathic message to Alphonse: "Master, the magical restrictions here are making me very uncomfortable. I need to sleep for a while."
After receiving Alphonse's consent, the sound of the demonic sword ceased, and it made no further response.
Alphonse felt it too; a heavy pressure was pressing down on him from the mountain.
Fortunately, there wasn't much discomfort, just a little pressure, which I could handle.
"Gravity suppression, magic resistance!" Master Godin growled. "This is really uncomfortable! I can barely use magic anymore. Normally I use magic to support my body and move around, but in a place like this, I can only walk by physical strength. It's really giving me a headache."
Alphonse then realized why Falbunkus had felt unwell.
The place where a legendary mage lived in seclusion actually restricted the casting of magic.
Fortunately, Master Godin not only possesses magic, but also the powerful physique of the wolf Fenrir, though he finds it difficult to adapt.
The higher you climb, the heavier the pressure becomes.
Edson, on the other hand, seemed unaffected, walking briskly.
Alphonse and Mia were still able to keep up with him, but Master Godin was in slightly worse condition.
Halfway up the mountain, Master Godin was already sticking out his tongue and panting heavily.
Alphonse simply carried Master Godin on his back and ran up.
Upon reaching the summit, all that could be seen was a patch of uneven, hilly land, only a few meters in circumference, where not a single blade of grass could be found.
Alphonse had a sudden realization: if he wasn't mistaken, Master Scott's secluded place, like the magic tower Master Godin left behind in Fantalia, was hidden in another dimension.
Master Godin cannot use magic; he cannot determine where Master Scott is hiding.
As Mia looked around in surprise, Edson's arm suddenly swelled and extended, transforming into a dragon claw, which slapped across the empty void outside the mountain peak.
Strangely enough, ripples appeared in the air, which was completely empty.
It's like throwing a stone onto a smooth, mirror-like surface of water.
"Master Scott doesn't like being disturbed by outsiders. Even if an ordinary person comes here and climbs to the top of the mountain, it would be difficult to find the node to open the portal," Edson explained with a smile.
The moment the words left his mouth, everything changed.
Suddenly, they were moved to another place.
Alphonse was shocked. He had expected to see a magic tower, but instead, he was presented with such an amazing scene.
Before me was a paved avenue with flowerbeds on both sides, planted with tall plants with flowers that looked like mouthparts and with long, hanging vines, but they looked wilted and not very energetic.
I don't know if I'll be attacked if I get too close.
At the end of the road, one can see rooms floating haphazardly in the air, connected only by a path formed by stairs.
They're not even side-by-side; they're scattered all over the place, making it look quite chaotic.
However, there was no ceiling covering all the buildings together, and in the gaps between the houses, one could clearly see the pebbles drifting through the void.
This is a strange building constructed in another dimension that is difficult to describe in words.
Perhaps using "seat" to describe it isn't quite right either.
The architectural style can be described as extremely abstract.
It wasn't dark at all; it was brightly lit everywhere, illuminated by magic lamps, as if it were daytime.
"You can put me down now. I feel my magic has returned." Master Godin struggled and let out a long sigh of relief.
Alphonse immediately released it and placed it on the ground.
Master Godin surveyed the room. "Master Scott's mastery of spatial magic surpasses even mine. Impressive!"
Mia was speechless, unable to utter a sound of amazement.
There were so many things that surprised her along the way.
Edson didn't go in immediately. Instead, he called out loudly, "Uncle Scott! I'm Edson from the Dragon Clan, and I've come to pay my respects!"
"They're here! They're here!" A deep, warm voice drifted over from afar.
"Once Uncle Scott leads the way, we won't be attacked by those demonic flowers. Although the demonic flowers aren't too difficult to deal with, it will save us some trouble. Just follow along. There's no need to worry about falling into the void. You can see the void outside, but there are invisible air barriers blocking your way," Edson explained with a smile.
No sooner had he finished speaking than the demon flowers on both sides of the road flickered with a faint green halo, looking even more wilted, their large blossoms drooping.
Immediately afterwards, a figure appeared in front of everyone.
He was a middle-aged man with a stubble beard and an unkempt appearance. He had short, messy brown hair and wasn't wearing a magic robe, just a drab gray coat.
There was no trace of powerful magical energy emanating from him; he looked like an ordinary civilian.
If you saw him in public, you would think he was a farmer.
Alphonse and Mia were both astonished. Was this a legendary powerhouse?
"Uncle Scott! How have you been lately?" Edson greeted him with a grin.
But the warm greeting was met with a cold, indifferent face from Master Scott, who glared at Edson with a fierce look in his eyes.
A ball of deep purple, blazing flame instantly condensed in his hand.
An incredibly powerful magical aura spread out in that instant, sending chills down everyone's spine.
It is conceivable that that small fireball possessed immense power.
Alphonse felt a chill run down his spine; this was completely different from what Edson had said!
Wasn't he supposed to be easy to talk to?
Are we going to start fighting here?
Are we going to take on a legendary mage?
Really?! (End of Chapter)
