Chapter 261 The Hermitage of the God of Law
"Huh?" Edson was dumbfounded when he saw Master Scott's expression. "Uncle Scott, what are you doing? Is there some misunderstanding? Don't..."
"What did you call me?" Master Scott interrupted Edson, glaring at him fiercely. "Want to taste a blast of hellfire?"
Edson immediately realized, "Brother Scott!"
Master Scott's expression immediately changed from anger to joy, revealing a bright smile. With a casual pinch, he shattered the deep purple, blazing fireball in his hand, causing it to dissipate into the air.
He patted Edson on the shoulder and said with a chuckle, "That's more like it! You little rascal, I'm not that much older than you. How can you call me 'uncle'? It makes me sound old. You should call me 'big brother'!"
Alphonse was taken aback. How could a legendary powerhouse care about how others addressed him? Did he care about his age?
Mia and Master Godin also lowered their guard and breathed a sigh of relief.
Master Scott's gaze swept over Alphonse and the others. "Welcome to the House of Time, Edson. Aren't you going to introduce your companions to me?"
Edson immediately introduced him to everyone.
Alphonse and the other two also offered their greetings.
"Just call me Big Brother, like Edson does. Don't be too formal, I'm easy to talk to," Master Scott said with a smile.
Alphonse just wanted to complain in his heart: Edson and Master Godin are both hundreds of years old, so calling you "big brother" is one thing, but if we don't count the previous two lives, I'm only nineteen years old at most, so why should I call you "big brother"?
Of course, I wouldn't dare say that to Master Scott's face.
I just clearly sensed the terrifying power of the hellfire that Master Scott casually unleashed. If you dare to call him "Grandpa," you probably won't have a good ending.
This legendary powerhouse truly had a rather eccentric temperament.
Master Scott's gaze fixed on Alphonse, his brow furrowing in confusion. "Your soul strength is exceptionally high, even stronger than mine. Could you be some old man who reached the legendary realm and possessed this young man's body to be reborn?"
Alphonse was startled. Had he actually figured it out?
Mia was also extremely shocked. She had suspected Alphonse before, after all, how could a person's personality change so drastically in such a short period of time?
But considering Alphonse's actions, he never harmed Lady Mary, did his best to strengthen the Frostwind Territory, and most importantly, her heart was already tied to Alphonse.
For a moment, my feelings were extremely complicated.
Alphonse was about to deny it when Master Scott shook his head. "No! No! Your soul is still very young. If you were reborn by taking over this boy's body, this body should carry an aura of decay! It wouldn't fuse with the body so harmoniously!"
Holy crap! That scared me!
Don't speak in such a halting manner!
You really think you have such good eyesight!
"Alphonse is a chosen one of the god Oshuaon, so his soul strength is exceptionally high. It must be due to the favor of the gods," Master Godin continued, offering an explanation for Alphonse.
When it first met Alphonse, it also noticed this unusual situation.
Hearing this, Mia felt relieved and her mood improved.
If Alphonse really is an old man who has been possessed and reborn, she doesn't know how to face it.
"So you're a chosen one!" Master Scott curled his lip, seemingly unimpressed, and smiled at Alphonse. "Don't mind me. Most of us who ascend to legendary status through our own strength don't have overly sincere faith. But the strength of your soul is unparalleled in my life. I believe you can reach my level, but you're too deeply entangled with the God of the Underworld. Perhaps you'll become his follower. Has He given you any revelation?"
"No," Alphonse shook his head.
I don't believe in the god of the underworld at all; who knows why he took a liking to me.
Speaking of this, Alphonse was also full of doubts.
"Your power is quite peculiar; it's neither magic nor battle aura." Master Scott raised his hand and stroked his chin. "It's a very novel power; I've never seen anything like it before."
Edson was very shrewd. The thought of Mia still being by his side made him quickly cover up for Alphonse, saying, "That was an ancient witchcraft that I taught him."
"Ancient witchcraft?" Master Scott glanced at Edson suspiciously. "You know ancient witchcraft? And in which ruins did you find it? Can I borrow it to study it?"
Edson chuckled dryly. "Well... let's go inside and talk. We've come all this way, Brother Scott, you don't expect us to just stand here and talk, do you?"
"If you don't want to, that's fine too." Master Scott didn't seem to care too much about it. He gestured and said, "Come with me. It's been a long time since anyone has visited. It's nice to have some fun."
After saying that, he walked away.
Alphonse, however, had an idea. Master Scott even had divine artifacts. Perhaps by offering an internal cultivation technique, he could exchange it for something good.
Master Scott turned to Master Godin and said, "You weren't born a dire wolf, were you?"
Master Godin nodded immediately, but before he could explain, Master Scott added, "It's quite strange. The wolf's soul merged seamlessly with your own. You have a very high level of skill in soul magic!"
"You flatter me, it's just average," Master Godin replied modestly.
"We can exchange ideas later. I'm not very talented in soul magic, so perhaps I should say I need to ask you for some guidance," Master Scott said.
"I wouldn't dare to ask for your guidance; my achievements in magic are far inferior to yours. However, exchanging ideas is certainly possible," Master Godin quickly replied.
"Even legendary mages aren't omnipotent. In terms of soul magic, you're stronger than me, so you can be my teacher," Master Scott said, having already climbed a flight of stairs to the doorway of a room.
Alphonse had already realized that, just as Edson had said, there were transparent barriers on both sides of the staircase, so there was no need to worry about falling into the void.
The room in front of them was also very strange; it could actually block perception, and spiritual senses could not penetrate it at all.
Master Scott casually turned the doorknob and opened the door. "Stasia, prepare some tea and snacks for me. I have some."
Before she could finish speaking, she was interrupted by a soft, low "ah".
Then came two or three crisp "clanging" sounds, as if some porcelain had been smashed on the ground.
Master Scott stood there, stunned.
Through the gap beside him, Alphonse could clearly see the situation inside the room.
A beautiful woman with long, light green hair fell sideways to the ground. Beside her lay an overturned teapot, shattered cups, and spilled tea. (End of Chapter)
