Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 608 The First Night of the New World
When we returned to the camp, the sky was already turning yellow.
Seeing the four-person expedition team drag back a plump wild beast, the remaining goblins immediately understood their meaning and secretly gave them a thumbs up.
The technician took sampling tools and went over to the beast, taking blood, muscle, and skin tissue samples, which were then returned to the cabin for analysis.
A few minutes later, he walked up to the captain with the data panel and reported: "Captain, the preliminary results are in. No contamination was detected in this thing. The muscle tissue is rich in protein and fat, and the toxicity is zero."
The young goblin standing to the side was stunned for a moment, then blurted out, "So...can it be eaten?"
The technician paused, then adjusted his goggles: "Theoretically, it's edible."
The young goblin cheered, almost jumping for joy: "What are we waiting for! After eating compressed food for months, our mouths are practically tasteless. Today we must feast!"
He ran straight towards the wild beast, then turned back and waved after a couple of steps, shouting, "Hurry, everyone come help!"
The other goblins perked up and rushed over.
A goblin brought over a folding frame and metal mesh, and in a few moments, he had put together a makeshift barbecue grill.
Another goblin squatted on the ground, skillfully cutting open the belly of the wild beast with a short knife and removing its internal organs.
"Skin it, cut the meat into chunks." The captain also came over and gave instructions from the side.
The goblins had a clear division of labor: some started fires, others cut meat.
Before long, the wild beast was cut into pieces, skewered with metal sticks, and roasted over a fire.
Oil droplets dripped from the meat, sizzling as they landed on the charcoal fire.
The aroma soon wafted out, and the goblins in the camp unconsciously moved closer to the fire.
The captain stood to the side, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed.
"Captain, don't hold back, come sit here." The co-pilot waved with a smile.
The captain coughed, then walked over and sat down on a rock by the fire.
The meat is roasted until golden brown and sizzling with oil.
The young goblin blew on it twice, took a bite, and gasped from the heat, yet couldn't bear to let go.
"It smells so good! It smells so damn good!" he mumbled, oil dripping down the corners of his mouth.
The other goblins were also eating with their mouths full of oil, some even licking their fingers with a "tsk tsk" sound.
The skinny goblin said as he ate, "I've made up for all the sins I suffered from these past few months of compressed biscuits today."
"Eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you," Barton said with a smile, taking another large piece from the shelf.
The captain took a bite, narrowed his eyes, and nodded without saying a word.
Compared to their fellow travelers still adrift in the sea of stars, these few are undoubtedly the happiest.
The campfire crackled, sparks flew upwards, and meat oil dripped into the fire, sending up wisps of smoke.
The skinny goblin was the first to speak, his mouth still stuffed with meat: "If you ask me, the meat of this wild beast is ten thousand times better than compressed biscuits."
"Nonsense, that's because you've become picky about food." Patton used his dagger to cut another piece of charred crust from the shelf.
"Back when we were floating in the starry sky, besides compressed biscuits, compressed vegetables, and compressed jerky, who had a choice?"
"As if you've never complained." The skinny goblin rolled his eyes.
Patton smiled, didn't reply, and stuffed the meat into his mouth.
A group of people sat around the fire, their faces glistening with oil from eating, their fingers gleaming in the firelight.
The passenger stretched and leaned back on the ground: "What do you think our god is busy with? I thought I'd finally get to see him this time."
"Don't pry into the affairs of the gods." The captain wiped his mouth. "They will show themselves when the time is right."
"I didn't ask around, I'm just itching to find out." The co-pilot sighed. "We've been flying out for so long and haven't even seen the face of a god. We'll be too embarrassed to brag about it when we get back."
"Come on, you can brag if you make it back alive," the technician chimed in. "Other exploration teams aren't as lucky as us."
Everyone laughed when he said that.
The young goblin asked as he tore at the meat:
"Captain, we should be the first to discover this new world, right? Will we become heroes when we get back?"
The captain chewed on his meat and thought for a while:
"It's hard to say. The other pioneer teams are too far away and we can't contact them anymore. But you'll be rewarded with all sorts of honors when you go back after discovering a new world."
"What if our god swallows this world too? Can we just go back?" The young goblin's eyes lit up.
"Then we'll have another continent, and the goblins' territory will be even bigger. As for whether we can go back, that depends on the gods' will."
"I'm just hoping those little brats at home will have a better life," Barton said in a low voice.
"My wife hadn't given birth yet when I left. Judging by the days, the baby should have been born by now. I don't know if it's a son or a daughter."
His words caused a moment of silence around the fire.
Several people simultaneously thought of their "home" in the goblin world, wondering how it was doing.
"It will be alright," the captain said. "Our God brought us out of here; he won't let us wander outside forever."
"Yes!" the young goblin nodded vigorously.
"We're the pioneers now, and we'll be the first pioneers in the future! Once we conquer this new world, I'm going to tell my family about it."
"That depends on what God thinks," the co-pilot said. "Let's find out first, and wait for orders."
"Yes, starting tomorrow, push the map outwards another circle." The captain drew a circle around the campfire with a twig.
"We don't know when our god will descend, nor do we know how long we'll have to stay here. Let's first familiarize ourselves with the terrain, and then mark the water sources and the activity patterns of the animal herds."
"Okay." Barton nodded. "That magic car drives fine, but the suspension needs some tweaking."
"Just drive slower," the skinny goblin pouted. "You're practically shaking my guts out."
"The road was in terrible condition today, is that my fault?" Barton glared at him.
"Who knows?"
"Alright!" The captain raised his hand to stop them. "The fact that you can still bicker at a time like this means you're not completely exhausted. After you finish eating, clean up and take turns keeping watch."
"yes!"
It got dark.
Someone looked up first, then stood there dumbfounded and didn't say anything.
Then one, two, three, all the goblins slowly stopped what they were doing and looked up at the sky.
The feeling of having countless stars spread out overhead is truly awe-inspiring.
"This is... a sea of stars?" the young goblin whispered.
None of the goblins spoke; they just looked up at each other.
Since Lynn absorbed the goblin world into his body, they have never seen such a magnificent sea of stars.
Lynn also simulated stars and the sun, but ultimately it was fake, lacking an indescribable charm.
While flying through the starry sky, you can see stars through the observation window, but it doesn't have the same breathtaking effect as seeing them from land.
Standing here on the ground, with the entire sky overhead and starlight pouring down from all directions, it sends chills down your spine.
A goblin silently took out a camera from his bag and snapped a picture of the starry sky.
The young goblin suddenly spoke up: "We are the first goblins to discover a new world for the great god. This should be recorded in history."
He stood up, dusted himself off, and said, "Shall we take a group photo in this strange world?"
The others looked at each other and laughed.
They stood up from the fire and lined up in front of the spaceship, some with their hands on their hips, others with their arms around their companions' shoulders, each with the most cheerful smiles.
"Smile more, everyone, don't look like you just fled a disaster!" Patton shouted.
With a "click," the shutter captured the first group photo of the new world.
In the scene, eight goblins stand between a campfire and the starry sky, with the familiar spaceship behind them, their faces beaming with satisfaction.
