Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!

Chapter 607 Building a Temporary Camp

After taking off again, the spaceship circled the continent once, searching for a suitable landing site.

The captain stood in front of the observation window, took a few breaths, and pointed to a barren, rocky area below: "There are few wild beasts there, so let's land there."

The spaceship adjusted its course and flew towards the other side of the continent.

The number of wild beasts below dwindled until only a gray-brown plain of gravel remained.

Resources are scarce here; besides the sand and gravel, there is only sparse vegetation, and a few weak wild beasts eke out a living here.

The spaceship descended slowly, making a dull thud as its hull touched the ground.

When the small wild beasts around saw such a large iron object land, they were all frightened and scattered.

The wild beasts living in this barren wasteland are all weak creatures, and they dare not confront this behemoth.

Even so, the spaceship did not open immediately, but remained stationary for a moment.

This time, it was much quieter, and no wild beasts came to attack.

"Check the environment again," the captain said.

The technician stared at the screen for a few seconds before speaking: "The air quality is normal, there are no large biological heat sources, and there is no danger within a kilometer radius."

"Don't go out yet," the captain said. "Everyone rest for a bit, recharge your magic crystal guns, and wait until the situation around us stabilizes before going out."

The goblins relaxed their guard, slumped into their seats, took off their helmets, and gasped for breath.

The skinny goblin wiped the sweat from his face and exclaimed, "This place is fucking insane! Aren't those wild beasts afraid of death?"

"This is just the beginning." The captain took out a compressed biscuit, put it in his mouth and chewed it.

"In the primitive world, there's bound to be some crazy people; this place operates on the true law of the jungle."

"That's good too. No more twists and turns, just a direct contest of who has the stronger fist. This is a kind of 'lower dimension' attack for us."

The other goblins nodded in agreement, their faces filled with a sense of superiority.

Once everything was ready, the captain stood in front of the control panel, his gaze sweeping over all the goblins:

"Listen up, everyone. Let's build the fortifications first, then we'll do other things."

"This place is completely bare, without a single hair. Is it really necessary?" the skinny goblin asked.

"Have you forgotten about being chased by a pack of wild beasts just now?" The captain glared at him. "In new places, always prioritize survival before exploration."

The goblins said no more and carried folding alloy plates, automatic pile drivers, and energy coils out of the cargo hold.

The eight people had a clear division of labor: two goblins operated the crane on the side of the spaceship to unload the heavy defense module from the top of the cabin.

The other goblins spread out alloy plates around the spaceship and used an automatic pile driver to drive piles into the rocks. Each pile was threaded and would automatically expand and lock itself in place once it was driven in.

"Connect the energy coil to the defense wall!" the technician shouted from the hatch.

They then laid another ring of silver-gray energy coils around the alloy plate.

When the coil is energized, a pale blue arc of light jumps between the alloy plates, forming a semi-transparent protective shield.

"It's done." The technician clapped his hands and nodded in satisfaction as he looked at the arc of light.

In less than half an hour, a temporary defensive structure consisting of alloy plates and energy shields surrounded the spaceship.

The eight goblins stood inside the fortification, sweat beading on their foreheads, but their faces showed a greater sense of relief.

After checking everything and confirming that the energy coils were stable, the captain ordered, "Alright, begin exploration and collection."

The technician conducted another air quality test and stared at the data for a long time: "The number of germs in this area is very low; it's much cleaner than that grassland we just visited."

"Then can we take off our spacesuits?" the skinny goblin asked hastily.

"What's the rush?" The technician rolled his eyes at him. "I'll test it again."

He operated the instruments a few more times before nodding: "There's no major problem. Besides, we have a divine mage here, and we brought a large amount of antibiotics. Even if there's an infection, it can be treated."

Upon hearing this, the goblins immediately began removing their helmets.

I've been wearing this for months, it's practically grown onto my body.

The first person to take off his spacesuit was the co-pilot. He took a deep breath and opened his entire chest cavity.

"That feels so damn good!" He stomped his foot. "I was practically moldy after being cooped up in that tin can for months."

The other goblins also took off their spacesuits, stretched their necks, twisted their waists, and swung their arms.

The wind blew in from the wilderness, carrying the smell of dry earth, and was cool.

The captain began to give instructions: "You, you, you, and you."

He selected four goblins, saying, "Go out and scout the surrounding area, collect samples, and draw a map while you're at it."

"Don't go too far, keep your communication channels open, and contact me immediately if anything happens. I'll bring reinforcements at any time."

The four responded in unison, put on their combat uniforms and tactical vests, and brought their magic crystal guns and short swords.

They drove a magic vehicle out of the rear cabin of the spaceship. It was flat-bodied with four wide, thick wheels, designed specifically for complex terrain.

The driver is called Barton, the best driver among the goblins.

He started the car, floored the gas pedal, and the magic car roared off.

The wasteland was littered with jagged rocks, and large and small pebbles covered the path.

The magic-powered vehicle started moving on it, causing the four goblins to sway and stagger.

"Barton, slow down, we're not in a hurry!" a goblin in the back seat said, covering his mouth.

"Don't worry, I can drive this car with my eyes closed," Patton said, but he still loosened his grip on the accelerator a little.

They drove eastward, their wheels crunching over gravel, startling a group of small animals.

Small creatures that looked like a hybrid of a rabbit and a lizard crawled out of the cracks in the rocks and scattered in all directions.

"There's a lot of life here," the goblin in the passenger seat remarked, observing through binoculars.

"Stop the car, get out and collect some samples," said the temporary team leader sitting in the back.

The four people got off the car and split up.

Two goblins squatted on the ground collecting plant and soil samples, one scanning the surrounding terrain with an instrument, and the other standing guard with a gun.

They were busy for almost an hour before they were able to get back on the road.

On the way back, Patton spotted a strange-looking small wild beast foraging behind a pile of stones.

The thing looked like a wild boar, but it had two rows of hard spines on its back and two upward-curving tusks protruding from its mouth.

Looking at the beast's enormous body, Barton licked his lips, slowly brought the car to a stop, and exchanged a glance with the goblin beside him.

This guy is so fat, it'll definitely sizzle and drip oil when it's grilled!

After drifting in the starry sky for months, eating compressed food every day, my mouth was completely bland.

The allure of this wild beast to the group was no less than that of a naked beauty.

The group quickly reached an agreement.

"Take it back."

"Watch out for the head."

The magic vehicle stealthily approached.

The goblin in the passenger seat raised his magic crystal gun and aimed it at the beast's head.

The moment the car came to a complete stop, he pulled the trigger.

The blue bullet pierced the beast's ear, and the thing screamed and tried to run away, but the second bullet had already penetrated the back of its head.

The wild beast thrashed about a few times before collapsing beside the pile of stones.

Two goblins got out of the car, dragged it onto the vehicle, tied it to the back, and drove back.
