Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 625 Alphonse's Doubts
While the battle raged fiercely on the battlefield of the abyss, a small town in the wizarding world presented a peaceful and tranquil scene.
The sun was shining brightly in the small town, warming the stone-paved streets.
A handsome young man and a beautiful young woman are leisurely enjoying their time together; they are Alphonse and Rowling.
Alphonse and Rowling walked side by side down the street.
He was wearing an ordinary gray robe, and Rowling was wearing a light-colored dress; the two looked like the most ordinary young couple in town.
They strolled slowly from the east side of the city to the west side.
Alphonse had longed for such days for a long time; he hadn't enjoyed this kind of life since entering the Bone Spire.
At the academy, every day is filled with cultivation, missions, and various experiments, and there is scheming and competition all around.
Now he just wants to live a normal life with Rowling.
After asking Lynn to resurrect Rowling, Alphonse chose to go out and take on a garrison duty in this small town so that Rowling could enjoy a normal life.
Although the treatment of those stationed in the small town was mediocre, barely enough to sustain their cultivation, he felt it was worth it as long as the two of them could be together.
But even in these peaceful days, there are hidden worries.
After Rowling's resurrection, she initially retained the same innocent and carefree demeanor she had as a young girl.
During that time, they laughed and joked every day, went out to buy groceries together in the morning, and took walks along the river in the evening.
She would chase stray cats in the alley and haggle with the vendor for ages over a sugar figurine.
Alphonse felt that was the best time of his life; back then, Rowling's smile was completely free of any gloom.
But gradually, her behavior started to change.
Sometimes, while strolling through the streets, Rowling would suddenly drift off into a daze and stand on the side of the street, lost in thought.
Sometimes at night, he would sit alone on the edge of the bed, muttering incomprehensible things.
He asked her what she was saying, and she just shook her head and said she forgot.
Alphonse had examined her body many times, but he could not find any problems, which made him somewhat worried.
Could it be that something went wrong during the resurrection?
But most of the time, Rowling behaves perfectly normally, like right now—
On the street, Rowling looked up at the sunlight overhead and pointed to a wood carving stall not far away, saying, "That one is interestingly ugly."
She walked over, picked up a crooked-mouthed puppet, and waved it at Alphonse with a smile: "Doesn't it look like you?"
"I'm not that ugly," Alphonse said.
"Your mouth is crooked like this when you're angry," Rowling laughed.
"We've been together for so long, when have I ever been angry?" Alphonse shook his head helplessly.
"You're always angry, just not obviously so." Rowling put the puppet back, then picked up the small windmill next to her and blew on it.
The windmill spun around with a whooshing sound, turning a vibrant array of colors. Rowling smiled, her eyes sparkling like a little child.
Alphonse looked at her, a smile unconsciously creeping onto his lips.
This is a completely different Rowling from the one she's been doing lately.
Recently, her personality has become increasingly unfamiliar.
She transformed from a lively and cheerful young girl into a mature and charming woman, almost like a completely different person.
She shed her shyness and became radiant, flamboyant, and passionate, her eyes and brows exuding captivating charm.
Her demeanor was graceful and poised, every gesture exuding a natural allure; her words were flirtatious and ambiguous, filled with blatant provocation.
She started seducing him every day, using different ways to be intimate with him.
He experienced many flavors that he never dared to imagine before during that period.
That kind of gameplay was so challenging that even I, a formal wizard, found it a bit overwhelming.
I really don't know how Rowling, an ordinary girl, managed to pull it off.
But every time it ended, looking at her familiar yet unfamiliar face, he always felt a little uneasy.
Especially her eyes.
Those eyes would become very deep and complex, as if hiding another person.
One night, he woke up in the middle of the night and saw her sitting alone on the edge of the bed, lost in thought and talking in her sleep, by the moonlight. He felt as if his mentor, Marfa, was watching him.
That one glance sent a chill down his spine.
That's absolutely terrifying!
He wanted to wake her, but pulled his hand back halfway through.
He could only console himself that Rowling had died and come back to life, experiencing the horror of life and death, so it was normal for her personality to change.
Besides, so many years have passed, and I'm already in my thirties. It's not wrong for Rowling to be a little more mature.
Fortunately, the situation seems to have improved recently.
Rowling slowly returned to her former self, laughing and joking, and even dragging her around everywhere.
Alphonse felt a little relieved, but he still felt that Rowling was becoming more and more unfamiliar to him.
This change was so slow that he couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong.
The two continued walking forward.
Rowling passed a pancake stall and her nose twitched.
"It smells so good." She stopped in her tracks.
"Two, please." Alphonse readily took out his money.
The stall owner was an honest, middle-aged man. Seeing that it was them, he quickly smiled and said:
"Sir, it's free, just some cheap stuff. Please take it and eat it."
"No," Alphonse said, placing the coin on the stall. "You guys have it tough too."
The stall owner didn't dare refuse and quickly wrapped two flatbreads and handed them over.
The crust is thin and crispy, filled with minced meat and wild vegetables, and has a fragrant aroma.
Rowling took it and took a bite, gasping for breath from the heat: "Hot, hot, hot...Delicious!"
Seeing her like this, Alphonse shook his head with a smile and took a bite himself.
The taste was indeed good, piping hot, with a lively, smoky flavor that you only find on the streets.
They had walked all the way, their mouths glistening with oil from eating.
Some pedestrians and shop owners who knew Alphonse would give way to them, and some would even bow to greet them.
"Lord Alphonse." A city guard stopped and saluted.
Alphonse nodded, but his brow furrowed slightly.
He disliked this privilege. He preferred that everyone treat him normally, instead of acting like he was meeting the city lord every time they met.
"Don't frown," Rowling whispered. "The more you frown, the more afraid they'll be of you."
"I didn't intend for this to happen either," Alphonse said.
"Do you know that you're the most famous person in this city right now?" Rowling teased. "You didn't even get as much attention as the city lord on his birthday."
Alphonse sighed: "Don't we go out every day? What's there to be concerned about about me?"
"You are a fully-fledged, officially recognized wizard, and you're stationed here," Rowling said. "To them, you are the true guardian of this city."
"I just want to stay by your side," Alphonse whispered.
Rowling blushed and gently pushed him away: "You're so frivolous."
A few street thugs were squatting at the alley entrance.
Although they didn't know Alphonse, they didn't understand what was so special about this ordinary, handsome young man.
But after seeing that wealthy merchants, city guards, officials, and even nobles treated him with utmost respect on numerous occasions, he naturally realized that this man was not someone to be trifled with.
Before the two even got close, the street thugs scattered and shrank into the alley, not daring to peek out.
"Look, even thugs are avoiding you now," Rowling said, covering her mouth with a laugh.
"That's for the best," Alphonse said. "It saves us trouble."
