Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 659 Mysterious Scales
When it was Lynn's turn, he stood up from his seat and walked to the long table.
He first placed several pieces of witch crystal ore on the table, then took out a stack of handwritten notes and two apprentice-level soul witch artifacts from his ring.
The two magical artifacts were a soul lamp and a talisman. Their craftsmanship wasn't top-notch, but they were very practical.
"Witch Crystal Marrow, purity over 40%, a copy of Soul Cultivation Insights, and two Apprentice-level Soul Witch Artifacts."
Lynn said, "I'm looking to purchase astrological witchcraft or meditation techniques."
The hall was silent for a few seconds.
Several people gathered around to examine the witch crystal ore marrow and nodded in approval.
When they heard the sorcery and meditation techniques of a specific star system, most of them shook their heads.
"The Star System is too remote; people with this talent are extremely rare," Tok said. "Who would bother to study that?"
Lynn didn't respond to what was said, but just stood there waiting for the others to react.
After a moment, a person who hadn't spoken until now stood up from the corner.
The man was wearing a dark blue robe and a half-mask covering his face, revealing only a pair of grayish-white eyes.
"I have two first-ring Star Magic spells and five apprentice-level spells," the man said softly. "In exchange, I'll give you my Magic Crystal Marrow and that manual."
Lynn looked over and asked, "Can I inspect the goods?"
Although there was no celestial meditation method, celestial witchcraft was also very rare, so Lynn naturally wouldn't let it go.
However, he was worried that the other party might try to fool him with fakes, so he could only ask the city lord to help him verify the goods.
The man was extremely confident and placed a star-blue scroll on the table.
Horn walked out from behind the table, picked up the scroll, and probed it with his mental energy.
After a dozen or so breaths, he opened his eyes:
"It's true. The two first-ring spells are Starlight Palm and Star Orbit Step. The five apprentice-level spells are also legitimate spells, without any defects."
Lynn nodded: "Deal."
He pushed the mineral marrow and his insights over.
The man packed up his things, turned around and went back to his seat, without showing any expression throughout.
Lynn then looked at the others: "Does anyone else have knowledge of the astral system? The price is negotiable."
No one answered.
Somewhat disappointed, he settled for second best, taking out the remaining witch crystal ore and two soul artifacts: "I'm looking to purchase a first-level soul-type witchcraft, or a potion to enhance mental power."
This time, someone answered the call.
A middle-aged witch in a green robe stood up and handed him a dark gray scroll: "Soul Shock Spell, one ring, in exchange for your remaining three pieces of mineral marrow."
Lynn checked it and confirmed there was no problem. He then used two magical artifacts to exchange for several bottles of potions from Mira.
That concludes what happened on stage.
He stepped down from the stage and sat back down, watching others continue to go on stage.
Basically, everyone brought out something that was better than what he had left.
There were complete second-ring materials, rare abyssal artifacts, and several items whose names he couldn't even recall.
Lynn became increasingly envious as she looked at the items, but she herself had nothing of value left.
Unfortunately, the Gray Feather Clan only has one formal wizard, so their revenue-generating methods are pitifully few.
The wizard family's dignity was mainly maintained by the ordinary-value wizard crystal mine, but it was barely enough to sustain the family, leaving little surplus.
He had been saving up his own witch crystal marrow for a long time.
After all the official wizards had taken their places on stage, just as Horn was about to announce the start of the free trade, an apprentice in the back row suddenly raised his hand.
"Lord of the City, I...I also have something."
The apprentice's voice was very soft. He was a third-class apprentice, dressed in drab gray clothes, and carrying a coarse cloth bundle in his hands.
Horn nodded to him: "Come forward."
The apprentice walked to the long table and opened the package.
Inside was a palm-sized scale, silvery-white in color, with fine lines on its surface, like a piece of solidified moonlight.
"I found this in an ancient ruin," the apprentice said.
"I checked the book, it should be the reverse scale of a dragon beast. Although I don't know the specific species, the dragon's might on it is very pure. I want to exchange it for a breakthrough potion for third-level advancement."
The wizards in the hall crowded around to take a closer look. Several of the formal wizards showed expressions of interest.
Calvin, who had been looking arrogant, changed his expression slightly after sensing the power flowing above him, and was the first to speak: "Let me see."
The apprentice handed over the scales.
Calvin examined it several times, then probed it with his mental power. His expression changed slightly: "It does indeed possess dragon's might, and its purity is not low."
He looked up, his tone casual: "This thing is useless to an apprentice like you. I'll take it for fifty magic stones."
The apprentice hesitated for a moment: "Sir, I want to change the potion, not the magic stone."
"Potion will do," Calvin said. "I'll get you a bottle when I get back. Give it to me first, and you can pick it up at the city lord's mansion in a couple of days."
The apprentice looked somewhat uneasy: "Sir, could you please give me the potion first? I need it urgently."
Calvin frowned, his tone turning serious: "You, a third-class apprentice, don't trust me, a second-circle wizard? I said I'd give it to you, so I will. Hand it over first."
As he spoke, his hand reached towards the scales.
The apprentice shrank back, but Calvin's gaze intimidated him, making him afraid to move.
The difference between the two is too great.
The surrounding wizards all saw this, but no one said a word.
No one wanted to offend a second-ring wizard.
At that moment, Horn walked out from behind the table.
"Calvin," Horn's voice was full of authority.
"The rules of the assembly are fair trade. An apprentice can exchange his things however he wants. You can't use your cultivation level to pressure him."
Calvin's hand froze in mid-air, his expression turning grim for a moment.
He glanced at Horn, then finally withdrew his hand.
"Fine," Calvin said coldly. "Name your price."
The apprentice shrank his neck and whispered, "I...I want to exchange it for a bottle of third-grade breakthrough potion, and...I'll just add another hundred magic stones."
Calvin snorted coldly upon hearing this and opened his mouth to try and lower the price.
At this moment, Horn suddenly interjected, "I have breakthrough potions here. You can trade them for scales, and I'll give you fifty magic stones in return, how about that?"
The apprentice was overjoyed and gave Horn a grateful look.
Although it didn't sell for a good price, it wasn't bad either.
Moreover, selling it to Horn would also be equivalent to diverting some of the firepower, so he quickly nodded in agreement.
Calvin stood to the side, watching Horn snatch the scale from his hand, his face darkening, but he didn't say anything more.
I really don't have much confidence in front of Horn.
Lynn saw this scene clearly from the side.
He didn't rush to move; he waited until the scales were traded before walking up to the apprentice.
"You just said you found it in ancient ruins?" Lynn asked.
"Yes, sir." The apprentice replied somewhat nervously.
"Is there anything else?" Lynn asked.
The apprentice hesitated for a moment, then pulled out two more items from the bottom of the package.
A grayish-white stone fragment, with half of an incomprehensible rune engraved on it, and a small pinch of silvery-gray powder, was placed in a leaky cloth bag.
"I picked these two up together," the apprentice said. "I don't know if they're worth anything."
Lynn picked up the shards of stone and examined them, but couldn't figure out what they were.
He couldn't recognize the half-rune, but its material was very similar to the scales from before, so it should come from the same ruins.
He put the stone slab down, then pinched some powder and rubbed it between his fingers.
The silver-gray powder feels very light; it feels like fine sand on your fingertips and has a slightly cool sensation.
"I'll take both," Lynn said. "How much is it in total?"
The apprentice thought for a moment: "Fifty magic stones for stone flakes, and thirty pieces of powder."
"I'll take them all, plus one more thirty magic stones," Lynn said.
"Alright then," the apprentice nodded.
He didn't know the value of these things, and it would be best to sell them if possible.
Lynn paid thirty magic stones and carefully collected the stone fragments and powder.
There's no question of who's getting a bargain at this price; it's just a normal transaction.
Calvin stood by watching, his expression darkening further.
He had his eye on that apprentice, but Horn interrupted, and all the food was taken by someone else.
But he didn't say anything more, just snorted and went back to his seat.
