People in America: My Uncle Don Quixote

Chapter 69 says that healthcare in America is free, right?

"How is it?"

After hanging up the phone, Don Quixote said smugly to Levy, "Just as I expected, Leto will definitely be dealt with."

"So, what secrets are hidden in his ledgers?" Li Wei asked, shaking the protein powder in his cup, "that made them shut down this entire supply chain so quickly."

Before his physical condition reached 3.0, he could barely maintain his energy expenditure by eating three normal meals a day.

But for some reason, after his physique broke through to 3.0, his appetite suddenly increased significantly.

Now, in addition to my three regular meals a day, I need to consume an extra 5 scoops of protein powder, along with plenty of sugar and cream, so that I don't feel hungry.

He now even feels that his tolerance for sweetness is on par with that of native Americans.

Fortunately, when Livy and Don Quixote were living together, Livy was responsible for purchasing groceries for the family because he had a part-time job. This prevented Don Quixote from having to sell his blood every month to make ends meet.

Upon hearing Li Wei's words, Don Quixote scoffed dismissively.

Since getting his hands on the ledgers, he has been riding high and beaming with pride.

"That idiot Leto uses outdated codes when he's keeping accounts," he said, shaking his head. "There are so many Italian Mafia members running their own YouTube accounts these days, I've even seen Mafia lieutenants open their own personal accounts."

He pointed to his head: "I can read Italian, and then combined with the information online, it was easy to decipher his ledger, ha!—he wrote down all the related transactions of all the companies together, Boom! Once the IRS gets the ledger, they can even trace the Gambino family's entire line of loan sharks in Brooklyn and uproot them."

"This isn't the golden age of the 80s and 90s anymore," he sighed. "Everyone's broke now. Do you think the IRS doesn't have KPIs? They'd love to find something to do with the Gambino family and make a killing."

As he spoke, he patted his bottom and stood up from the sofa.

"I'll go negotiate with Susan," he said as he put on his suit. "The longer we wait, the more things can go wrong. We need to take over the building quickly before the owners realize their plumbing can't be sabotaged."

"So, does that mean we'll soon be living the good life?" Li Wei opened the shaker, adding a lethal amount of sugar and butter. "Can I become a rich kid like you?"

"You brat," Don Quixote laughed as he went out, "I'm more optimistic that you'll become a millionaire faster than I am. If you need an accountant and an actuary, consider letting me do your books."

The room fell silent again. Li Wei shrugged and downed the drink, a mixture of protein powder, sugar, butter, and cream, in one gulp.

The intense sweetness is accompanied by a slight saltiness, and the granulated sugar adds a granular texture. When you bite into it, it's like popping boba, causing Levi's dopamine to be released rapidly.

It was a bright and sunny day, with the sunlight streaming in generously and shining on Li Wei's face.

How warm it is.

Suddenly, Li Wei's phone rang, breaking the silence.

"Hello, Mr. Arthur Vines, it's me," Levi answered the phone. "Oh... the training camp invitation, right... please send it to 273 Bell Ridge Community... Hmm, what?"

"It's just a training camp, right?" His voice suddenly rose an octave. "Really? You want me to do a good job?"

"That's right, Levi," Arthur Vines' voice trembled slightly, "Please, this training camp, you absolutely, positively must achieve good results. It might just change the fate of both of us."

"It can't be that bad, Mr. Wensi," Li Wei laughed. "It's just a training camp. I'll just perform normally, won't I?"

"Alright, alright, Levi, I believe you," Arthur Vince said. "But you must get plenty of rest and prepare in advance. I can't tell you the specific reasons, but I can tell you that I'm not joking with you."

After a few more words, Arthur Vins shared some offbeat tips for improving athletic performance, such as using large amounts of nicotine patches and microdose of cadarin within 48 hours of a blood test to counteract the metabolism. He also mentioned that if Levi needed it, he knew some guys in pharmaceutical company labs who could provide him with some peptide supplements.

However, Li Wei rejected all of them.

However, Wen Si seemed rather adamant, and only hung up the phone after Li Wei assured him that he would give it his all and not let anyone down.

"What kind of result could make a seasoned scout lose his composure like this?" Li Wei muttered to himself as he grabbed his backpack and headed out the door. "Strange, really strange."

...

At Franklin K. Rhine High School, Levi initially thought Coach Miller was the biggest blabbermouth in the football team, but he discovered that Travis's mouth was actually bigger than Coach Miller's.

Now the whole school knows that Li Wei has a girlfriend from a wealthy family at a private high school.

"Fuck!" he explained while rubbing his temples. "I only met Anya by chance while working part-time, and I have no other relationship with her."

"Come on," said Craig, the former injured starting quarterback, and his teammates, surrounding him. "Do you think someone would drive all the way to this lousy place just to watch you play because of a chance encounter?"

"Uh..." Levi said, "Perhaps it's because we're both from abroad, and I happen to speak a little Russian."

"Nonsense! There are plenty of foreigners out there. I think she's definitely interested in you, buddy. Ask her out a few more times, and she'll definitely succumb to your charm."

"And it looks like she drives a Mercedes G-Class!"

"Fuck! Rich, beautiful, and young, Bro, you deserve to die! I hope you're doing well, but you can't be doing this well!"

Meanwhile, on the other side, unlike Li Wei's bright future and beaming smile, Wang Haoran was filling out a change of address form in front of Ms. Palmer, who now had a five-layered chin.

"Mr. Wang Haoran," Ms. Palmer said, chewing her bubble gum, "are you sure you want to change your home address from Flushing, Queens to Sunset Park, Brooklyn?"

"Yes, ma'am," Wang Haoran said with a hint of bitterness, "I'm moving."

He couldn't understand why his life had changed so drastically in just one weekend.

$187430.62.

This is the medical bill that his father, Wang Qiang, received yesterday.

Damn it, why didn't anyone remind them beforehand? Isn't healthcare supposed to be free in America? Why is it so expensive!

When he received the bill in his mailbox over the weekend, he saw a string of numbers and thought it was someone's phone number!
