Magicians never make wishes

Chapter 13 Damn it, the rescue has finally arrived!

As the princess left, the team members were still reeling from the shock.

"Am I dreaming?" Evil Axe shook his face vigorously, trying to clear his head.

"We haven't done anything to offend our employer along the way, have we?" Hawkeye thought to himself, a little flustered, as he began to recall the details.

Upon hearing this, Dunshan hurriedly began to think, wondering if he had accidentally said something wrong.

"I say, now is not the time to think about this, is it?"

Ronan truly couldn't understand what these three were thinking, having the leisure to ponder such trivial matters. He casually put away his spoils and offered a reminder.

"Have you forgotten that we're surrounded?"

This question seemed to be the key to unlocking the next scene, not only bringing Dunshan and his two companions back to their senses, but also causing the goblins who had been lying in wait in the distance to all stand up at the command of the centurion.

They cautiously formed an encirclement, gradually approaching the small group.

"Forty or fifty goblins, plus a centurion...did that mercenary say he was coming to rescue us?"

The evil axe fears being told: you must have imagined it, and the other person never said that.

"They said they'd come help us after seeing the princess off," Hawkeye said uncertainly. "We can't go back on our promise to the princess, can we?"

"Let's hold out for a while, then we'll go into the cave!" Dunshan gave the order, and everyone ran into the cave entrance.

Although the cave passage has collapsed, the remaining openings can still serve as natural shelters.

There's no need to be exposed if you have cover, otherwise the goblins will show you what it means to be exposed by a hail of rocks.

Ronan's mental strength had only partially recovered, and he couldn't unleash many decent attacks.

Although there is still 1 point of wish power left, it can be used to make a wish to restore mental energy.

But this is his last resort, and he will never use it lightly unless absolutely necessary.

He always had an urge to exhaust all his mental energy and unleash a "scorching ray" with all his might.

Unfortunately, even when his mental energy was at its maximum, a single ray of fire was not enough to wipe out such a large number of goblins that were spread out so far.

However, the restriction on his mental energy output made him feel extremely uncomfortable all over.

Most importantly, even if he wanted to unleash a limited version of the "Burning Ray," his current mental strength wouldn't last more than a few times.

As soon as the four of them took shelter at the cave entrance, a rain of stones began to fall from the sky.

These goblins, though not as powerful as the one controlled by Wolf Fang, had limited strength in throwing stones.

However, the quantitative offensive led to a qualitative change, and in an instant, all the shortcomings were made up.

The four people at the cave entrance were so overwhelmed by the attack that they dared not show their faces.

"What should we do, Captain?" Due to his height, Evil Axe couldn't see what was happening outside, but he could tell from the voice that things were not good.

"It's a pity my shield is gone, and it seems the mercenaries took the Wolf Fang's Condensed Elemental Orb too..." Dunshan habitually clasped his hands inward, and without the weight of the great shield, the movement seemed somewhat frivolous.

"Hawkeye, wait until this wave of rocks finishes hitting the goblins before getting closer and use Corrosive Arrows to scare them."

"Evil Axe, fight here, don't go out. Leave a few corpses for you to use as blood packs, and pile the rest up outside the cave entrance."

"Bai Ye, how many more times can you cast your spell?"

"There aren't many left. Unless you can string them together, don't expect me to kill many." Ronan spread his hands, indicating that he was powerless to help.

"Then don't make a move. Continue to recover your mental strength. When you can't hold on any longer, find an opportunity to take the leader away directly."

It must be said that, as the captain, Dunshan's tactical deployment ability is remarkable.

"Captain, what about you?" Evil Axe asked curiously, "Are you still blocking the way?"

"Do I look like someone who could stand at the very front right now?!"

Dunshan gestured with his famous hands, and usually at this moment, the large shield would fan a gust of wind with his movements. "I'll try my best to block the entrance and build a wall of goblins!"

After giving instructions and making arrangements, the goblins' stone attacks stopped.

Eagle Eye listened intently to the approaching footsteps, and after judging the distance, suddenly stood up and jumped out of the cave.

Within half a second, he drew his bow and nocked an arrow; in the other half second, he fired a dark arrow and retreated back into the cave.

The goblin at the front saw a figure flash out at the cave entrance and then disappear in an instant. Before it could react, it lost consciousness.

However, losing consciousness does not mean that its physical body will also collapse.

Instead, its skin and muscles began to rot, and its limbs swung and spun wildly like a top, flinging its rotting flesh and blood at other goblins.

At first, the other goblins were only somewhat disgusted by the rotten flesh thrown at them, but when the same festering sores spread across their bodies, they cried out in alarm, warning their kind to stay away.

This is the true power of the Corrosive Arrow. With its specially crafted arrowheads modified by the Grey Elves, it can maximize the spread of corrosive power across the battlefield.

The goblins at the front were in complete chaos, and the first few had already been quickly corroded into skeletons.

This caused the goblins behind to be afraid to come forward.

Ronan witnessed this scene through his mental network and was amazed by the contagious nature of the Corrosive Arrow. In a battlefield dominated by cold weapons, this was undoubtedly a devastating strategic weapon.

Of course, in a fantasy world, that's a different story.

The goblin riot was finally brought to a stop by the centurion's battle cry. Hawkeye's arrow had intimidated a large number of goblins, leaving the centurion to deal with the situation personally.

It took the horn from its waist, put it to its mouth, and blew it, the dull horn sound echoing through the monster forest.

Dozens of goblins maintained a relatively safe distance, completely surrounding the cave entrance, and did not rush in.

"Damn it, the captain is calling for reinforcements!" Dunshan's expression changed as he realized the other party's intention.

"How many goblins can the centurion summon?" asked the scoundrel.

"Less than a hundred." Hawkeye was much more relaxed than before; his Corrosive Arrows were practically unstoppable here. "Half of it is already outside; at most, it'll double again."

"Are you fucking out of your mind? Isn't this enough?!"

The voice of the evil axe sharpened, forcibly suppressing the urge to chop Hawkeye with its axe.

As time went on, more and more goblins gathered around.

Under the intimidation of the clerk, all the goblins stood in perfect unison, forming a rough encirclement formation.

The situation is getting worse.

The silence was finally broken when a figure appeared.

The goblin encirclement was forcefully torn open by overwhelming force, creating a path—a familiar entrance.

"Damn it, the rescue has finally arrived!" Evil Axe couldn't help but cheer.

A head of slightly wavy blonde hair paired with silver armor outlines a strong physique—a familiar figure;

"Phew! Looks like I can save a few more Corrosive Arrows." Hawkeye smiled as he looked at Shield Mountain. "I'll have to claim reimbursement for the losses when we get back, okay?"

Dunshan's tense expression finally relaxed, and he nodded and smiled, "Okay."

And, that familiar, languid tone—

"This is so tedious. What's wrong with these green-skinned creatures? They're just wasting my precious time."

Russell drew a silver longsword from his waist, its blade gleaming with a dazzling light. "Looks like I'll have to do it myself..."

"We must bury these adventurer scum to the ground."
