Magicians never make wishes
Chapter 15, yes, that's what it is now.
"Lord White Night, over here!" After killing a goblin, the evil axe turned around and called out.
Ronan quickly followed, glancing briefly at Shield Mountain and Hawkeye before the two ran off in another direction.
After activating Berserk mode, the Evil Axe's attack power and speed are significantly increased, and it even has a special bloodlust effect.
Although the axe didn't say it, judging from the fact that he didn't seem tired after hacking away all the way, Ronan guessed that it was probably to increase his stamina.
Ronan followed closely behind the axe.
His mental energy is now almost depleted, and his recovery speed is extremely slow.
Remembering that the mercenary had mentioned not having mastered meditation, he searched his mental book of magical knowledge but found no relevant information.
It seems that the original owner might really be the "wild magician" the mercenaries were talking about.
Adhering to the principle of saving every penny, Ronan chose to refrain from taking action as much as possible, conserving his mental energy.
This stinginess brought him unexpected gains.
He discovered that by emitting radiation in a very short instant, he could obtain part of the kinetic energy of the radiation with minimal mental effort.
It's basically equivalent to kicking with all your might from a distance of one or two meters.
Its power is negligible, but its advantage lies in its instantaneous activation, making it barely adequate as a surprise interference method.
Ronan would only use this method at the most crucial moments to slightly disrupt the goblins for Evil Axe.
It primarily serves as a key support role.
The axe's bloodlust was clearly more powerful than he had guessed.
As Ronan watched the axe's attack power increase, its speed increase, its stamina increase, and its spirit increase, he couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
The more goblins the axe slays, the greater the bonus from the Bloodlust effect.
But... why does this increase seem to have no end?
Ronan couldn't help but ask, "Evil Axe, is your 'Bloodlust' a berserker skill? How is it so powerful?"
"Yes, Lord Byakuya, but my bloodlust is a little different."
Evil Axe recalled what Shield Mountain had said, "The captain seems to have said something like... what I'm like is called skill mutation."
"Normal bloodlust has an upper limit to its amplification, but the more monsters I kill, the better my stamina becomes, the stronger my condition gets, and I can keep getting stronger..."
"We were able to escape the beast tide thanks to this skill."
Ronan was stunned by the power of this skill.
Holy crap, there's no limit to how much this can increase! If this keeps going on, won't it cause a catastrophe?
The axe relentlessly carved out a path, but Ronan's stamina began to wane.
"Lord Baiye, shall we rest for a bit after I deal with this wave of pursuing goblins?"
The evil axe noticed Ronan's condition and took the initiative to meet the pursuing goblins. "This level of pursuit is nothing compared to a beast tide..."
"Lord Baiye, please take good care of yourself," Evil Axe reminded him intermittently.
"Once the bloodlust amplification stacks up, I'm prone to losing my mind, and I might not be able to take care of you then."
"I understand, Evil Axe," Ronan nodded, thinking to himself.
At least there are some negative restrictions, otherwise this bloodlust would be too unreasonable.
Before long, the evil axe had killed all the pursuing goblins, and the two of them recovered their strength on the spot.
Of course, only Ronan was actually recovering his strength, while the axe was focused on keeping watch.
"Evil Axe, you used to be in the same squad as Shield Mountain?"
"Yes, but unfortunately, everyone else died after the beast tide..." The memory made Evil Axe's eyes glaze over. "Only Captain Shield Mountain and I survived."
"Do you know Fei Sha? Wasn't she one of your former teammates?"
"She was indeed a former teammate, and also a powerful mage." Evil Axe was somewhat surprised that Ronan would ask this. "Although she is very charming, she is also not popular with some people."
"Why?" Ronan asked curiously.
"I'm not quite sure, maybe it's jealousy..." Evil Axe sighed. "She's the most beautiful human woman I've ever seen, even more beautiful than the ones from my hometown..."
Seeing that the axe was starting to launch into a long tale of his romantic escapades, Ronan immediately changed the subject.
"Evil Axe, do you know the way back to town?"
"I only remember the direction," the axe paused, "but having a direction is enough, isn't it?"
"Evil Axe, how did you encounter the beast tide last time? What type of beast tide was it?"
"It's a swarm of demon rats, one of the most terrifying beast tides in the Demon Forest."
Evil Axe's expression turned somewhat grim. "Once you encounter them, you'll be instantly overwhelmed by the swarms of rats."
"Fortunately, my bloodlust had been enhanced to a certain level beforehand. With my superb speed and endless stamina, I ran for three days straight before finally returning to a safe area."
"You don't know, Lord White Night..." Evil Axe said, still shaken.
"That sudden, earth-shaking roar, appearing from nothing, growing from small to large... it was absolutely terrifying!"
How can I describe that sound to you?
Fearing Ronan wouldn't understand, the wicked axe racked his brains trying to come up with a metaphor.
"That sound is like it comes from the abyss. At first glance, it sounds like a deep drumbeat... Yes, that's it, huh?" Evil Axe was taken aback.
Deep within the monster forest, a low, resonant drumbeat suddenly echoed from his mouth.
"Could this be the sound of the beast tide you were talking about?" Ronan asked.
Before the evil axe could answer, a blue-skinned rat the size of a hunting dog suddenly darted past the two of them.
"This is the outpost of the beast tide! Run!"
Evil Axe's face turned green; he wished he could slap himself for his jinxed words.
"Was that big rat you just encountered the horde of beast rats?" Ronan asked, forcing himself to remain calm despite his panic.
With his physique, he can't run very far.
Evil Axe was somewhat uncertain when, just then, a group of the same rats began to dart out of the nearby bushes.
He casually picked one up. "It's a bit smaller and weaker than the horde of rats I've encountered before..."
"Is this still a rat swarm or a beast tide?"
"Absolutely, I'll never forget that sound for the rest of my life."
Having received an affirmative answer, Ronan nodded silently.
He's currently in a state where he's just an ordinary person with no strength to even kill a chicken, and he has no ability to deal with the current situation.
He was ready to expend 1 point of wish power to directly wish for the restoration of his mental strength.
However, something even worse happened.
Suddenly, a huge wave of rats surged in like a flood, sweeping the two of them in different directions.
"Lord Baiye, which way should you go... I'll be waiting for you in that direction."
Just before being swept away, the evil axe pointed in a direction, indicating that the two would meet there after Ronan escaped.
In an instant, the two were buried in the surging swarm of rats and separated.
Ronan was bounced back and forth on the mouse's back, feeling a wave of nausea and dizziness.
This sudden outbreak of rats came quickly and went quickly.
By the time he had regained his balance and escaped from the swarm of rats, he was already vomiting uncontrollably.
Just then, he saw a familiar figure.
His robust and broad-shouldered orc physique, lacking the familiar large shield, made the one-handed sword at his waist look like an ornament strung between a water bottle and two bags, utterly devoid of any intimidating presence.
The newcomer was none other than Dunshan, the captain of the adventurer's party.
"Bai Ye? You encountered a beast tide too?"
Ronan watched him walk towards him and replied, "Yes, I was separated from the axe."
"And you guys?" he asked casually.
"We thought we'd gotten rid of the goblins... but then a sudden horde of beasts appeared!"
Dunshan looked somewhat shaken. "I got separated from Hawkeye too."
"Are you alright?" Dunshan asked with concern when he saw Ronan lying on the ground retching.
Ronan waved his hand to indicate that he was fine.
"I still have some water here, take it and drink it." Dunshan stepped forward and handed over the water bottle. "Drink some water and calm down."
Ronan struggled to his feet, reaching out to take the water bottle offered to him.
Suddenly.
Dunshan swiftly drew his one-handed sword with his other hand and deftly thrust it toward Ronan's neck.
