Magicians never make wishes
Chapter 21 Silver Wolf
Willpower?
These tasks now come with a "wish power value," making it seem like you can gain wish power by completing the task.
Is the mission also a different kind of wish, and completing the mission is a way of fulfilling the wish in disguise?
Ronan pondered, feeling that this explanation was somewhat far-fetched.
If that's the case, then what determines the specific amount of wish power?
Since the initial restoration of the divine status, there are too many issues that need to be clarified one by one.
A host of questions left Ronan feeling dizzy and overwhelmed.
Thinking about too many high-level or complex issues can also be a dangerous thing.
He decided to take on a task and see what would happen after he completed it.
As long as you don't make wishes lightly, how much of a problem can you possibly encounter when doing adventurer quests?
Do it when you think of it.
He called over Parker, who had been observing the hall, and said without batting an eye.
"Since you say you're familiar with this place, let me test you. If I wanted to accept the task displayed on this screen, which area should I go to?"
So this is called a display screen... You're really knowledgeable, aren't you?
Parker paused for a moment, then carefully replied, "If it's just about accepting a quest, you can go to the quest area."
He pointed to the most crowded area in the hall and said, "But we should go to another place first."
"Where?" Ronan asked curiously.
Knowing where to accept missions, he would go straight there.
Parker smiled slightly. "Sir, we should go to the free trade area first."
"You can only accept the quest displayed on the screen after you hire an adventurer in the free trade area."
Parker said confidently, "This is the conclusion I've reached by combining what the village chief and Phil said."
"I understand, let's go." Ronan said noncommittally.
"Hey? Sir, that's the free trade zone." Seeing that Ronan was going in the wrong direction, Parker quickly followed to remind him.
"No need for that." Ronan didn't even turn his head and walked straight towards the mission area.
Upon hearing this, Parker fell silent and obediently followed behind him.
Adventurers in the mission area often gather in small groups, forming small teams.
The squads Ronan passed by were mostly of mixed races.
Few teams prioritize race when selecting teammates; strength is the primary factor, followed by class synergy.
Every race has its natural advantages, which means that a certain ethnic group may be very well suited to a certain profession.
Take dwarves for example. Besides their expertise in metallurgy and forging, they are well-suited for combat professions such as berserkers and shield bearers.
When teams are evenly matched, a well-balanced team composition can maximize the overall combat effectiveness of the squad.
In other words, a squad composed of members of different races is generally stronger than a squad composed entirely of members of the same race.
Ronan's squad was similar, consisting of shield guards, berserkers, rangers, assassins, and mages—all well-rounded and capable in both offense and defense.
Unfortunately, now only he and Evil Axe are left, and it's still uncertain whether they can be considered a team.
The officials in the association's hall were mostly young and beautiful grey elves and human girls. Their sweet looks and approachable service attitude prevented many adventurers from having any intention of making things difficult for them.
Task area.
When the human girl who greeted Ronan saw him, her eyes lit up for a moment, then quickly returned to normal.
"Dear Adventurer, Alice is at your service."
She gave a polite, professional smile and asked, "May I ask what you need? Would you like to post a quest or accept one?"
Upon hearing this, Parker behind him immediately understood.
"No wonder the master doesn't go to the free trade zone; it turns out he's an adventurer himself."
"No rush, introduce yourself to me first." Ronan looked at the sweet girl in front of him and smiled back.
Alice's ears turned red, as if she had misunderstood. "Yes, Adventurer."
"The Adventurers' Guild has regulations regarding the posting of quests. Customers with a certain level of credibility who have paid a deposit in advance can post a certain number of normal-level quests within the validity period."
"Once a quest is verified to be valid, it will be assigned to the quest marketplace and accepted by qualified adventurers."
"The association encourages those who post tasks to hand over their payment to the association in advance for safekeeping, and will take appropriate disciplinary action against fraudulent activities related to tasks..."
As expected of an excellent teller at the front desk, her professionalism is evident.
As Alice spoke, her initial shyness transformed into seriousness and meticulousness.
She took a breath and continued,
"As for accepting quests, any adventurer registered with the guild can use their adventurer badge to accept quests that meet the requirements in the quest market in the lobby."
"Once the mission is confirmed to be completed, the adventurer will receive the corresponding mission rewards and association points."
"In addition, points are divided into team points and individual points. These can be freely converted, but their functions differ. Please inquire for details..."
Having grasped the general idea, Ronan quietly interrupted, "Thank you for your explanation, beautiful lady."
"Alice." Alice spoke first, her ears blushing again. "My name is Alice, adventurer. You can contact me for any business you need in the future."
"Okay, I just remembered I have a mission I haven't accepted yet. Can I come find you later?"
Ronan spoke gently, but couldn't help getting up immediately and heading straight for the display screen in the center of the hall.
"Yes, adventurer, it is my honor."
Ronan quickly stood up, then suddenly remembered something and turned back to ask, "By the way, do you need me to give you a five-star review?"
Alice paused, seemingly pondering what a five-star review meant.
"Never mind, let's finish the mission first."
After saying that, Ronan turned and left.
Parker followed behind Ronan, feeling that he had gained a lot today, suddenly understanding so many of the rules of the Adventurers' Guild.
Just as he was basking in the fruits of his labor, Ronan suddenly turned around and asked,
"I remember your village was called 'Nine Bends Village,' right?"
He didn't react for a moment and nodded blankly.
"There's actually a quest for your village here..."
Parker's heart tightened immediately. "Sir, what happened in our village? It's gotten to the point where we need to hire adventurers to solve it..."
Holding the badge, Ronan continuously sifted through the mission marketplace, selecting the missions with the lowest rewards.
The Adventurer's Badge can be used as a remote control in the Guild Hall.
Ronan later learned that everyone sees the content on the screen differently.
What you can see depends entirely on the badge and the adventurer's own level.
It's incredibly advanced; the original owner's understanding of displays was completely superficial.
After filtering through a bunch of tasks with almost no reward, Ronan unexpectedly saw the words related to Jiuwan Village.
So he asked a local villager nearby with great interest to confirm.
When he clicked on it, he discovered that it was an exploration task.
The wife of a villager in Jiuwan Village has gone missing. She was last seen near the edge of the Monster Forest. We hope that adventurers will go there to investigate.
This reconnaissance mission was followed by a subsequent rescue mission.
This means that after fulfilling the prerequisites, adventurers can choose whether to continue with the subsequent tasks.
Dividing the mission into reconnaissance and rescue is a good idea, but the reward...
Ronan glanced at the reward listed on the reconnaissance mission: 1 silver wolf.
And the reward for the rescue mission... is actually 1 silver wolf!
Silver Wolf is the name given to silver coins in this world's monetary system, named for the wolf's head engraved on the coin's surface.
This should be the currency that Ronan is most familiar with.
Because the reward he gave to the village chief was a silver coin engraved with a wolf's head, worth 1 silver wolf.
