Magicians never make wishes

Chapter 49 Divine Revelation Secret Array

Ronan discovered that the biggest problem inside the cave was not the polluters at all.

Whether it's a large horde of polluters or special polluters that can disguise themselves.

For him, these are all things he can still handle.

However, he had no way to counter the suppression of mental power within the cave.

This suppression becomes more pronounced the deeper it goes underground.

Ronan even dared to assert that the reason everyone had gone to the wrong exit earlier was most likely because the mental suppression in the square was too strong, causing some confusion.

Only those professions specializing in mental power, such as mages, are not easily affected.

Since moving forward was impossible, Ronan decided to turn back and carefully scan the path he had come from with his mental energy to see if there was anything unusual.

Sure enough, not long after Gray Leaf walked back, he noticed something unusual on a wall.

"You mean this place is empty?" Gray Leaf tapped the stone wall in front of him; it was very hard.

"Not there, a little more to the left, even more to the left."

Ronan guided Grayleaf, leading him closer and closer to the new hole in the wall.

In view, this is just an ordinary stone wall.

In the perception of the mental network, there is actually a hole here.

This must be the route Ronan and his companion took.

Yes, it really exists.

As Gray Leaf was tapping away, he suddenly stumbled and plunged into a hole.

"Don't you have any related mental perception skills?" Ronan asked curiously.

Gray Leaf is a magician after all; he shouldn't be unfamiliar with such basic mental power applications.

"I'm different from you," Gray Leaf said helplessly.

Ronan simply conjured a neutral-attribute flying arrow in his hand and shot it toward a certain spot on the stone wall.

There was a bang.

The hidden entrance suddenly appeared.

"Let's go back and choose another exit," Ronan said somewhat helplessly.

Going back to the square is too dangerous.

Not only is there the immortal phantom of the altar, but another monster may also be arriving.

But this road was blocked, and he had no other choice.

There were no more turns on the return journey.

Gray Leaf carried Ronan straight ahead and finally returned to the familiar square.

To his surprise, the deputy commander floated in mid-air again and launched an attack on the polluters below.

When Ronan returned, he glanced at him calmly and then ignored him.

The group healing spell on the altar continued to emit its green glow tirelessly.

Seeing this scene, Ronan had a surreal feeling, as if the escape had never happened and everything was still the same as before.

Upon seeing the newcomer, the semi-transparent phantom inside immediately lunged towards Ronan.

However, the green light on the altar not only has healing effects, but also has a limiting effect on the phantom.

No matter how the phantom tried to break through, it could not leave the altar.

If Ronan had known the altar had this function, he wouldn't have needed to try and outlast the phantom.

He nimbly leaped off the back of the gray leaf and, through the "Mage's Hand," picked up a piece of the corrupted limb, still covered in black flames, from nearby.

Then, through absorption and conversion, the Black Flame Arrow was back in his possession.

While the non-attribute flying arrows are useful against the phantom, the phantom is currently confined to the altar area and poses little threat. The black flame arrows are much more valuable.

Anyway, he won't stay in this godforsaken place any longer.

The mercenary vice-captain watched the whole thing out of the corner of his eye.

After Ronan ingested a small amount of black flame, he was able to unleash arrows formed from the black flame.

His eyes were filled with strange expressions.

Ronan chose a hole and was about to leave.

The dark passage was suddenly illuminated.

The face of the puppet Pharos emerged from the darkness.

Immediately afterward, Akahoshi exclaimed in surprise, "You're back too?"

Ronan's expression changed several times.

This was actually the cave entrance that Akahoshi and the others had chosen before; it seems this path is also blocked.

"Just like you..." He led Grayleaf towards another cave entrance. "Let's try this one."

"It's no use. These openings are connected to the mental labyrinth. It's easy to go astray if you're not careful," Akahoshi said helplessly.

"Is there any way to get out?"

Gray Leaf asked politely but distantly, realizing she couldn't feel any affection for the boy named Red Star.

After all, Higgs, Akahoshi's senior, had plotted against him before. Although he didn't fall for it, he didn't inform Squad 408 to cancel the mission.

"That's all I can think of..."

Before he could finish speaking, the figure of the evil axe leaped out of Ronan's original cave.

The dwarf woman on his back was still unconscious when he landed steadily.

Upon seeing Ronan not far away, Evil Axe immediately raised his two axes, looking wary.

He was considering whether to use the preemptive strike tactic of crawling into the mouse now.

But then he hesitated, because the situation did not go as expected after the last preemptive strike.

The evil axe stood frozen in place, caught in a dilemma.

During this time, Grayleaf had already walked up to him, looked at the female dwarf on his back, and asked:

"Why isn't Red Hammer awake yet?"

"Captain, you really are the captain!"

Seeing that the other party had walked right up to them but hadn't attacked, Evil Axe was certain that Ronan and Grayleaf were not special polluters in disguise.

Suddenly, the evil axe remembered something and immediately informed Ronan of the four-legged monster's information.

"Captain, there's a four-legged monster behind me... It's so strong, I'm no match for it."

"You saw it too?" Gray Leaf asked in surprise.

She compared the information given by the evil axe with the four-legged creature in her mind and found that it should be the same one.

"Captain, let's run... I have a feeling it's following me."

Evil Axe was still shaken and hadn't recovered from the last battle.

Ronan shook his head and said, "With so many entrances, do you know which one leads to the outside?"

Do you think I don't want to run away?

"I know."

This answer drew the attention of both Akahoshi and the mercenaries.

Evil Axe appeared calm on the surface, but was actually feeling a little uneasy under his gaze. "...I made a mark."

Ronan raised an eyebrow. "Did you see the markings when you were running away?"

"No..." Evil Axe frowned as he recalled, "but I made a mark."

"What's the use of that!"

Gray Leaf looked speechless, then turned to Red Star, "What was the only thing you could think of before?"

"I found a divine revelation array on Pharos, which can solve the current situation."

As he spoke, Akahoshi pulled out a roll of yellowed parchment from his pocket.

"Then what are we waiting for? Activate the secret array!" Gray Leaf said with delight.

"Um, this is my first time encountering this secret formation either, so I'm a little..."

Grayleaf frowned and asked, "Haven't you mastered it?"

"The secret array doesn't require learning or mastering, but it consumes a lot of energy, and I might not be able to handle it alone..."

"What kind of consumption?" Grayleaf asked疑惑地问道, "Mental energy?"

Akahoshi shook his head and replied, "Flesh and blood consumption."

"What is the Divine Revelation Secret Array?" Ronan asked curiously.

"Simply put, it's a one-time consumable item that grants a certain amount of enlightenment by paying a specified price," Gray Leaf explained casually.

Paying a price...and gaining enlightenment?

This sounds like a low-budget version of making a wish...

Oh, it's just giving information; it's nowhere near as good as achieving something directly.

"You know that too?" Ronan was even more curious.

"This is a one-time consumable item that is extremely rare yet very famous in the Mystic Arts Society."

"It is said that some people have indirectly achieved impossible wishes based on revelation..."

Gray Leaf lowered his voice and chuckled mischievously.

"This thing is priceless and unavailable; it's impossible to buy it with ordinary people's money... Should we...?"
