Chapter 17 Escape, the Open Door, the Secret Chamber on Lonely Mountain!

[Encountering the Boss: Kaharos the Wolf]

[Rank: ??? (Skull-level)]

[Status: Hungry/Berserk/Guardian]

Luo Wei stood at the front of the line, holding the steak that was still slightly warm in his hand.

In his vision, every hair on the three-headed dog was burning with black fire.

Its middle head lowered, and a puff of hot air came out of its nostrils, ruffling Rowe's hair.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione were completely frozen. Neville rolled his eyes and fainted.

"Don't move," Rowe said in an extremely faint voice, his lips barely moving. "For magical beasts of this level, vision is based on movement. I'm guessing."

"Lo...Love..." Harry's voice trembled, "It...it has three heads..."

"I can see it, Harry." Cold sweat trickled down Rowe's forehead. "It's Angban's watchdog. The beast that devoured the Silmarillion. Even Beren and Lúthien couldn't defeat it head-on."

Lou Williams, the three-headed dog, growled with a roar, drooling like a waterfall as it dripped onto the floor, making a sizzling, corrosive sound.

It's about to pounce!

[Warning! The BOSS is about to attack!]

[Countdown: 3...2...]

"Now!"

Luo Wei suddenly roared.

He used all his strength to throw the steak in his hand.

"Eat up, you bastard child of Angolan!"

The steak traced a parabola in the air.

The three men, who had been staring at their heads, were instantly drawn to the chunks of meat in the air and the aroma they emitted.

The middle head took a bite of the steak.

The one on the left roared and tried to snatch it.

The head on the right was not to be outdone, and bit down on the ear of the head in the middle.

Roar--!

The three heads instantly started fighting over that piece of meat.

"run!!!"

Rowe grabbed Neville from the ground and shoved Harry, who was still in a daze, with his other hand.

Taking advantage of the wolf's infighting, the five people scrambled out of the room.

boom!

Luo Wei was the last to rush out, slamming the door shut and locking it tightly with the bolt.

The door was shaking. Loud crashing and roaring sounds came from inside.

"Hurry up! Don't stop!"

They ran wildly down the corridor.

They ran all the way to the seventh floor and squeezed into the common lounge behind the portrait of the fat lady before daring to stop and catch their breath.

……

The common room was warm and bright. The fireplace crackled and popped.

Rowe threw Neville onto the armchair.

Harry collapsed onto the carpet, his face deathly pale. Ron was trembling. Hermione, on the other hand, was filled with rage.

"How could you..." Hermione gasped, "How could you be so reckless! It was a monster! We almost died!"

"You're welcome, Miss Granger." Rowe sat down in another chair, took a piece of rock bread from his bag, and took a crunchy bite to calm his nerves. "We survived. It was a successful expedition."

"Success?" Hermione screamed. "We broke school rules! Nighttime outing! Trespassing! If we get caught, we'll be expelled!"

"And my pound of steak is gone," Rowe said regretfully. "That was a strategic reserve in preparation for a long siege."

Harry finally recovered by then.

"Did you guys notice?" Harry suddenly asked. "What's it standing on?"

"On the floor?" Ron asked dumbfounded. "I didn't look at its feet, I only looked at its head."

"No," Harry shook his head, "It's standing on a trapdoor. It's guarding something."

Luo Wei stopped moving.

He swallowed the rock-skin cake in his mouth, and his eyes changed.

[Quest Clue Update: Lonely Mountain Secret Chamber]

Location: End of the restricted area corridor on the fourth floor

[Guardian: Kaharlos (LuWei)]

[Speculated Treasure: The Arkenstone/The One Ring/The Silmarillion]

“You’re right, Harry,” Rowe said in a low voice. “I knew it. The thief at Gringotts didn’t succeed. The thing was moved here.”

"What is it?"

"It could be the Arkenstone of the dwarves. The Heart of the Mountain. It's a symbol of the Turin dwarf kingdom. Sauron wants it not only for its wealth, but also to rule over all the dwarf clans."

Hermione rolled her eyes. "What game is this setting from? There's definitely something from Professor Dumbledore hidden there!"

"Whatever it is," Rowe stood up, brushing the crumbs off his hands. "That's the entrance to the main story mission. We're too weak right now. We can't even beat the guard dogs."

He looked at Harry intently.

"We need to upgrade, Harry. We need better equipment and stronger skills. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to intensify my training."

"Training in what?" Ron asked, "Defense Against the Dark Arts?"

"No. It's physical fitness. Combat. And cooking."

"cooking?"

"That wolf likes to eat meat." Rowe grinned smugly. "If a steak can buy us ten seconds, what about a full hobbit feast? Maybe we can stuff it to death, or tame it."

Harry looked at Rowe and felt completely overwhelmed.

"Alright, meeting adjourned." Rowe slung his backpack over his shoulder. "I'm heading back to the basement (Hufflepuff Dormitory). Tonight's patrol is over. Although we didn't kill any orcs, at least we discovered the enemy's headquarters."

He walked to the entrance of the portrait cave, then suddenly stopped, turned back to Hermione, and said:

"Miss Granger."

Hermione looked at him warily: "What are you doing?"

"Next time you're going to use 'Alaho' again..." Rowe pointed to his frying pan, "Could you hurry up? Physically breaking down doors is too noisy and will easily attract enemies."

Hermione paused for a moment, then turned away angrily.

But after Rowe left, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly.

At least this madman saved their lives at a crucial moment.
