Lin Chuan withdrew his gaze, closed his laptop, and got up to leave.

"Where are you going?" Chen Xiyu asked. "Hey, even if you don't want to clean, you don't have to leave so soon."

"I'm home, your mom's here," Lin Chuan said succinctly.

"Huh?" Chen Xiyu was taken aback. She ran off the sofa, barefoot to the window, and looked down. She saw the door of the familiar black Audi open and a woman in a business suit get out of the car.

"She's here, why are you going back?" Chen Xiyu asked.

Lin Chuan didn't explain much, after all, these kinds of things are hard to explain.

Shouldn't he find some time to tell his parents that he got a computer, so they don't have to go through all that trouble running back and forth?

"If your mom sees the computer, just say it's yours, don't say it's mine," Lin Chuan said, turning back to remind her as he walked to the door.

"I understand," Chen Xiyu said.

Less than a few minutes after Lin Chuan left, the sound of heels hitting the ground came from outside the door.

Immediately following was a knock on the door, then Zhang Wei's voice, "Xiao Xi!"

Chen Xiyu went to open the door. "Mom, what brings you here today?"

"I'm off today." Zhang Wei said, walking straight into the living room. The first thing she saw was the closed laptop. "You bought a computer?"

"No, it's just an old computer that a friend doesn't use anymore, so I left it with me," Chen Xiyu said.

"If you want to use a computer, you can buy a new one," Zhang Wei said.

"No need, I don't use the computer much anyway," Chen Xiyu said, not wanting to continue the topic. "Is there anything you need later?"

Zhang Wei asked, "I'm looking for my own daughter. Can't I come if there's nothing wrong?"

"No," Chen Xiyu smiled. "If Mom has time, it would be even better if she came every day."

Zhang Wei smiled and said, "I definitely won't have time every day. Tomorrow is the Mid-Autumn Festival, so I arranged with your dad to have a meal together."

Chen Xiyu paused for a moment, "Didn't we agree to eat tomorrow?"

"Your dad and I both have things to do tomorrow, so we're calling ahead of schedule," Zhang Wei said.

"oh."

Zhang Wei glanced around the living room and at the blanket on the sofa, frowning slightly. "Isn't this place a bit messy?"

"I've been busy lately and forgot to clean," Chen Xiyu said with a sheepish smile.

"You're a girl living alone, you need to be careful."

"Okay," Chen Xiyu said, "I'll clean up when I get back tonight."

"Then go change your clothes," Zhang Wei said.

"Okay..." Chen Xiyu turned around and went into her room. After a while, she came out and had already changed her clothes.

The two of them went downstairs together and went outside.

Lin Chuan was standing in his living room. Because the angle was similar, he could see the two people downstairs walking out of the community together and getting into the black Audi.

His phone, which was in his pocket, rang. He picked it up and saw that someone had sent him a message on QQ.

"I went to dinner with my mom, and I might not be back until very late," Chen Xiyu said. "If you need to use the computer, just go over there yourself."

Lin Chuan was taken aback. He had rarely been to the apartment across the hall when Chen Xiyu wasn't home, even though he had a key.

But now that the homeowner has spoken, he certainly won't hold back.

"Okay," Lin Chuan replied.

He then returned to Chen Xiyu's room, though he felt a little strange, with a peculiar feeling of being afraid of being caught for doing something wrong.

Lin Chuan sat in front of the computer, continuing his "work" for the day. Time passed by, and the sunlight outside the window slowly began to slant westward.

After typing a few words, he raised his hand to touch his forehead and let out a long sigh.

"Lin Chuan!" A shout came from outside the window. Lin Chuan heard it clearly in the living room.

Lin Chuan turned his head to look out the window and saw a boy wearing Adidas sportswear standing downstairs in the residential area, waving at him.

"Old Lin, I'm here!" Wang Xu continued to shout.

Lin Chuan was a little surprised. He only knew Wang Xu, one of his classmates, but he didn't expect him to come over during the holidays.

"What brings you here?" he asked.

"What did you say? I can't hear you!" Wang Xu shouted.

"Go upstairs." Lin Chuan gestured with his hand.

Wang Xu still didn't hear Lin Chuan's words clearly, but he understood his gestures, so he ran upstairs.

Relying on her memory, she arrived at Lin Chuan's house and knocked on the door, but there was no response from inside.

He was a little puzzled and wanted to take out his phone to make a call, but then the door to the house behind him opened and Lin Chuan's voice came through.

"Over here."

Wang Xu turned around, glanced at Lin Chuan below the door, then looked at the spot where he had just knocked. "Why has your house changed location?"

As he spoke, he turned around and looked inside. "Hey, not only has your house changed location, but it's also gotten bigger!"

"This isn't my house, it's Chen Xiyu's house," Lin Chuan reminded her.

"Huh?" Wang Xu pulled his foot back from the step. "Is Chen here?"

"No, she just went out to eat with her mother," Lin Chuan paused, "What are you doing here?"

"Hey, I'm asking you to play ball, wanna come?" Wang Xu didn't forget the real reason he came.

He likes playing games, but playing alone gets boring. If he had a choice, he would still prefer to play games with Lin Chuan.

But Lin Chuan has been quite busy lately, which is why he came to me.

Lin Chuan thought to himself, "I've been staying home for quite a while today, so going out to play some ball would be a good idea."

"Okay, wait a moment." Lin Chuan returned to the living room, saved the document he had just written, and then closed his laptop.

Throughout the entire process, Wang Xu stood outside without going in, looking somewhat reserved.

In his mind, Chen Xiyu was someone very distant from them, someone who kept a distance, even though she and Lin Chuan seemed to have a good relationship.

Therefore, he dared not go into Chen Xiyu's house casually.

Lin Chuan came out of the house, locked the door behind him, and the two of them went downstairs together.

"Hey Lin, what are you doing at Chen's house?" Wang Xu couldn't help but ask.

"I don't have internet at home, so I used her computer," Lin Chuan said.

"So that means you're often together, even at home?" Wang Xu asked.

"Although what you said is strange, that's roughly the idea."

"Damn, what's the difference between this and living together?" Wang Xu's expression turned envious, then into a strange smile. "Hehehe, living with such a beautiful woman, that must be awesome, right?"

"Just so you know, I only go to her place to use her computer when I have free time, it's no different from going to an internet cafe," Lin Chuan said. "In the end, it's actually quite troublesome."

"Keep pretending," Wang Xu said. "What if I had a beautiful girl living with me..."

"You're drooling."

Wang Xu subconsciously touched his chin, only then realizing that Lin Chuan had lied to him.

He chuckled awkwardly, then nudged Lin Chuan with his shoulder, his smile lewd. "But Lin, I see you're inseparable from Chen these days. Everyone in the class is saying you two are a couple."

Lin Chuan simply responded with an "oh." It was normal for rumors to circulate about them since they were often together at school every day. High school students always loved gossip, after all, they didn't have much entertainment besides studying.

"But you have some kind of relationship with Cheng Xue, and Chen Xueting came back to see you again," Wang Xu said with a sigh. "Brother, do you have to be so popular with women?"

"You have a good imagination," Lin Chuan said.

Wang Xu smiled and said, "So who do you like? I guess it's Chen."

Lin Chuan glanced at him and simply replied, "I don't like anyone. I like studying, and I want to be a top student in the city."

The second half of his statement is debatable, but the first part is true: for him now, there is no one he truly likes.

"Huh?" Wang Xu looked completely bewildered.

"Actually, in my eyes, you are almost like my younger brother and sister," Lin Chuan said.

Wang Xu was stunned and stood there, not understanding what this meant. The next moment he realized what it meant and got angry, "Damn it, you're taking advantage of me again."

Lin Chuan turned around and smiled at him, "Are you still going to play ball or not? If you dawdle any longer, it will be dark by the time you get to the court, then you can go home."

"Hey, let's fight!" Wang Xu quickly followed.
