After being reborn, I gained a childhood sweetheart who appeared out of nowhere.
Chapter 73 The Rich Guy Reader
During evening study, Lin Chuan briefly greeted the teacher on duty and then went to the art studio with Cheng Xue.
When they arrived, Lu Ying was the only one left in the studio, as if she was deliberately waiting for them.
"You're here." Lu Ying took off her headphones and turned around to greet them.
"Is she still painting?" Lin Chuan asked, looking at the easel in front of her. It was a watercolor landscape painting, which, in his layman's eyes, was quite well done.
"We're about to leave," Lu Ying said, standing up and handing over the classroom key. "This is the spare key to the art studio. Just remember to lock the door when you're done."
She then pointed to the paint box on the ground, "There are paints here. If you want to use them, just use them yourself. The drawing board and paper are the same as everything else."
"Thank you," Cheng Xue said.
"It's nothing." Lu Ying waved her hand. "I'm leaving." She picked up a small paint bag and walked out of the art studio.
Lin Chuan and Cheng Xue were left alone in the art studio. Cheng Xue found a spot, took out her easel, and then took out watercolor paints from her bag. She also filled a small basin with water from the bucket next to her.
She took a drawing out of her schoolbag; it was an unfinished drawing, with only a rough outline.
Several color blocks overlapped, but Lin Chuan couldn't make out anything.
Unable to understand the other person's actions, and without asking, he thought for a moment, then found a seat, took out his book, and started reading.
"Aren't you going back?" Cheng Xue asked.
"I'm going to close the door after you finish drawing," Lin Chuan said.
"I can close the door too."
"Never mind," Lin Chuan said, "I borrowed the studio from someone, so I'll just close it down. Besides, it's not bad to read here."
Cheng Xue didn't say anything more. After taking out her paintbrush, she started painting with her tools. Soon, she was completely immersed in her painting.
After some time, she felt a soreness in her shoulders, so she got up, twisted her shoulders, and took a closer look at her painting.
This is a habit in painting: to take a step back and look at the overall picture, avoiding getting bogged down in a particular detail.
At that moment, Cheng Xue glanced unconsciously at the side and saw Lin Chuan, dressed in a school uniform, sitting in the corner with a notebook in his hand. The cold white light of the classroom shone on him, and his profile was as cold white as the light.
Seemingly noticing the gaze, Lin Chuan looked up, and their eyes met. Cheng Xue was clearly taken aback.
"Finished drawing?"
Cheng Xue quickly looked away and replied, "It'll be ready soon."
"Oh, good luck then," Lin Chuan said casually.
Cheng Xue sat back down in her seat and continued drawing. Time passed slowly, and the classroom suddenly became quiet. She could almost hear Lin Chuan turning the pages.
Lin Chuan didn't know how long he had been looking at his phone before finally remembering to glance at it. There were still ten minutes left before the end of the evening study session.
Looking up, I saw that Cheng Xue had stopped drawing, but was still staring at her own painting.
"Finished drawing?" Lin Chuan asked.
"Yes," Cheng Xue nodded, "but I want to wait for the watercolor to dry a bit before taking the painting down."
As she spoke, she began to tidy up the palette and other tools on the floor.
Lin Chuan walked up to the easel and admired the painting. It was a forest landscape with a girl in a white dress standing under a tree. It looked quite beautiful and had an artistic feel to it.
When the bell rang, Cheng Xue returned from the restroom. She tore off the tape next to the drawing paper. At first, Lin Chuan didn't understand why the drawing paper was taped up.
Now you understand: the area with tape won't get stained by paint, and when you peel off the tape, it forms a natural "white frame".
"Is this also for you?" Cheng Xue asked.
"Okay, just give it to me. I'll take it to Teacher Xue in a couple of days," Lin Chuan said.
Cheng Xue handed over her drawing paper.
After Lin Chuan took it, he didn't roll it up. He just held it like that, glanced at the studio briefly, and after confirming that there were no problems, they left the studio together.
Lin Chuan locked the studio door behind him. Since evening study was over, Cheng Xue went straight back to her dormitory.
Lin Chuan needed to go back to the classroom, firstly to put away his drawing paper, and secondly to find his after-school buddy.
When they returned to the classroom, almost everyone had left, and Wang Xu was nowhere to be seen. Only Chen Xiyu was sitting there, with a student on duty next to her.
The boy was on duty today. Although he really wanted to go back, there were still people in the classroom, and he was too embarrassed to ask them to go back.
He would have called out to any other student, but when he saw it was Chen Xiyu, he hesitated and simply stood at the door...
Hearing footsteps, Chen Xiyu looked up. "I thought you weren't going back."
"I still have to go home." Lin Chuan said, putting the painting and the submitted articles into the drawer before walking over.
"Let's go back." Lin Chuan came to Chen Xiyu's side.
Chen Xiyu picked up her schoolbag and left with him.
As Lin Chuan passed the student on duty, he said to him, "Excuse me, I had something to take care of just now."
"It's okay, class monitor," the boy said with a smile.
Lin Chuan had just arrived at the bus stop at the school gate when he saw a familiar bus drive by.
"The last bus has passed." Chen Xiyu turned to look at Lin Chuan, pursed her lips, and her meaning was clear: Lin Chuan was late and therefore missed the last bus.
Lin Chuan was a little embarrassed. He walked to the bus stop sign, counted the bus routes, and after a while, he finally spoke, "There should be one more bus on route 201. Shall we take this one?"
"Route 201 doesn't go directly there," Chen Xiyu said.
"It's definitely not a direct route. We'll get off halfway and walk about one or two stops to get home," Lin Chuan said. "We're getting off at Chengxi Street. Is there anything you'd like to eat?"
"Let's roast sweet potatoes," Chen Xiyu said.
"Roasted sweet potatoes are great!" Lin Chuan gave a thumbs up.
The two of them stood there and waited for about five minutes before the No. 201 bus pulled into the bus station. There weren't many people on the bus, so they found a seat together.
When they arrived at Chengxi Station, they got off the train together. As soon as Lin Chuan got off the train, he looked around. Chengxi Street was a snack street.
Even though it was quite late, there were still many street vendors, and the aroma of snacks filled the air as you walked along.
All he wanted was to find roasted sweet potatoes, because without them, he was likely to be in serious trouble that night.
Lin Chuan wandered around for a while and finally smelled a familiar aroma. At the end of the street, there was an old man guarding a thing that looked like an iron barrel filled with roasted sweet potatoes, and the warm, sweet fragrance wafted out.
Lin Chuan never understood why this stuff smelled so good; the ones he baked at home just didn't have the same aroma.
"How many do you want?" Lin Chuan asked.
"one."
Lin Chuan walked over and asked the old man for a sweet potato. The old man took a rather large one, put it in a paper bag, and said it cost five yuan. This price wasn't cheap, so Lin Chuan paid.
The old man handed her a sweet potato, and Chen Xiyu reached out to take it. But as soon as she touched the sweet potato, she was startled because it was hotter than she had expected.
"It's hot, you take it." Chen Xiyu quickly handed the sweet potato back to her.
Lin Chuan instinctively took it, but he was also burned. He quickly reached out and pinched the edge of the paper bag, then lifted it up.
"It's so hot," Chen Xiyu said, touching her ears.
"You're carrying a paper bag," Lin Chuan reminded him.
"No, you take it first," Chen Xiyu said.
After buying what they wanted to eat, the two started walking back. If Lin Chuan remembered correctly, it was about two kilometers away, but as they chatted, it didn't seem to take as long as he had imagined.
He only handed it over when he saw that the sweet potato wasn't so hot anymore, saying, "Eat it, or it'll get cold."
Chen Xiyu took the warm sweet potato, tore open the bag, glanced at it, and asked, "You only bought one?"
"You're only going to eat one?"
Aren't you going to eat?
"I'm having some financial difficulties lately," Lin Chuan sighed. "Miss Chen probably wouldn't understand."
"Hmph," Chen Xiyu broke the sweet potato in half and gave it to him, "Yes, yes, I don't understand."
Lin Chuan took half a sweet potato and then said, "I take back what I just said."
Chen Xiyu snorted lightly, "Too late, I've written it down."
Because he missed the last bus, Lin Chuan didn't get home until 11:30 p.m. He didn't even have time to take a shower before turning on his computer and sending out the content he needed to update that day.
After posting, he habitually glanced at his book and discovered that someone had actually given him a reward today, but it was in Qidian book coins. He didn't know how much it was, so he had to calculate it himself.
One, ten, hundred, thousand... Huh? Lin Chuan counted them, and the reward, converted, seemed to be a thousand yuan? His book was only a little over 100,000 words long, and he had already received so much money in rewards?
Lin Chuan clicked on the reader's ID to see "Baiyun," a very ordinary ID that he seemed to have seen a few times before. He then opened the reader group and found that this person was among the people who had joined.
Could it be someone I know? Lin Chuan wondered and opened the other person's QQ account. It was a fairly high-level QQ account, with a sun icon.
The gender is male. When you click into his profile, there are only a few landscape photos, which are his recent posts. Lin Chuan glanced at them and they looked familiar. They looked like Tokyo Skytree at night.
He probably doesn't know anyone who would be traveling in Tokyo, right? Besides, nobody knows this book is his. It seems he really is a stranger. This is a rich guy reader.
Lin Chuan thanked the donor in the author's notes and then released a new chapter.
"Thanks is enough, but what about an extra chapter, author?" someone commented in the reader group; the ID was "Baiyun".
Lin Chuan sent a grinning emoji, "I'm a bit busy tonight, so I'll make a note of this extra chapter and make it up this weekend." He remembered that when he wrote novels on Qidian, he received large sums of tips, which required him to write extra chapters.
At this point, other readers in the group also chimed in, saying things like, "The boss is generous!" Others were saying, "The boss is foolish!"
Everyone chatted and joked around in the group for a while, talking about all sorts of things.
Lin Chuan opened another group, which was the author group that Yue Shan had asked him to join before, but he muted it after joining.
Because the people there are so active, the authors chat every day, about everything except writing...
Sure enough, when he looked, there was another string of messages that he couldn't even scroll to the beginning of. He was too lazy to read them, so he just glanced at them and closed the window when he didn't see anything important.
After finishing his work, Lin Chuan quickly went to take a shower, hoping to go to bed early today.
…………
Early morning, in Class 5 classroom, there was still some time before morning reading.
Lin Chuan walked to the front with his notebook and only saw Zhou Yun. He looked around and asked, "Where's your deskmate?"
They came to school together this morning, but they disappeared in the blink of an eye.
"I went back to the dorm," Zhou Yun replied. "Did the class monitor look for her?"
"No, I was just asking," Lin Chuan said. "I had something to do during evening study yesterday, so I didn't talk to you about the essay."
"It's okay, it's alright if the class monitor is busy and doesn't need to look," Zhou Yun quickly said.
"That's not what I meant. I read your essay, and I think it's quite well written." Lin Chuan paused for a moment. "However, there are some parts where the writing isn't quite smooth."
"oh oh."
"My personal suggestion is that you should revise it. If you don't mind, I can write my opinion in your notebook." Lin Chuan asked.
"Can."
"Would you like to sit down and change seats?" Zhou Yun said, standing up as if to indicate that she could sit in her seat.
"No need." Lin Chuan sat down directly in Chen Xiyu's seat. Her seat was cleaner and tidier than he had imagined. He picked up the pen on the table.
Zhou Yun was also sitting down. At this moment, the two of them were just like ordinary classmates. She couldn't help but secretly look at Lin Chuan next to her, who was writing with his head slightly lowered, his hair hanging down, and his nose straight.
Without realizing it, her heart started beating faster for no reason.
Lin Chuan wrote very quickly. After all, he had already read it last night, so he had a general idea of what it was about. In just a few minutes, he had made many notes on the article.
"What are you doing sitting here?" Chen Xiyu's voice rang out.
Lin Chuan looked up and saw Chen Xiyu standing in front of him.
"I'll help your deskmate revise their essay for the call for submissions," he replied.
"Hey," Chen Xiyu looked at Zhou Yun, "Xiao Yun, you actually asked him to help revise your essay instead of me? Don't you trust me?"
Zhou Yun was taken aback, and quickly waved her hand, "I just saw that you've been a bit busy lately, I didn't mean that."
Chen Xiyu chuckled. "I was just kidding," she said, looking at Lin Chuan. "Make sure you revise it properly. If you don't get selected, hmph..."
"I'm not a reviewer, how can I guarantee it will be selected?" Lin Chuan shrugged, put away his pen, and handed the notebook to Zhou Yun. "I'm done writing, take a look."
"Thank you, class monitor." Zhou Yun took it and glanced at the annotations before exclaiming in amazement, "Class monitor, you're amazing! I had no idea my article had these problems."
"The bystander sees most of the game," Lin Chuan said.
"Finished the revisions?" Chen Xiyu asked.
"Um."
"Aren't you leaving? This is my spot."
"I was thinking that sitting in the first row wouldn't be bad, the blackboard is quite clear from there."
Are you nearsighted?
"No," Lin Chuan said, glancing at the desk in front of him. "But your seat looks quite clean and tidy, which is a bit of a surprise."
"You think I'm like you?"
"You mean the house hasn't been cleaned for a week..." Lin Chuan hesitated before speaking.
"Hey, don't say that! Get up, I need to do my morning reading." Chen Xiyu pushed his shoulder.
"Oh dear, oh dear, stop pushing it, it's going to fall over," Lin Chuan said.
In the morning, as soon as Wang Xu entered the classroom, he saw a boy and a girl sitting by the window, playfully teasing each other.
He couldn't help but sigh, "This is what other people's youth is like..."
