The Walking Dead: Starting as a Cowboy
Chapter 120 Discussion
Caesar had long coveted Woodbury, a desire that had been brewing since his encounter with Martinez in Atlanta.
But now is not the time. Woodbury still has the potential to grow, and it will be time to harvest when the fruit is ripe.
Caesar put the map of Woodbury, along with Carol and Andrea's personal information, into a safe and locked it securely.
The timing wasn't good either.
Caesar looked outside. The sky was slightly overcast. He hadn't seen a bright, sunny sky for several days; all he could see was a white expanse with a hint of gray.
The weather has recently turned cold, and the town's residents have all put on long sleeves and even jackets.
The cattle and sheep are not going out to roam as frequently as before; they can only go out occasionally.
There are two ways for the cowboys in Black Pine Valley to feed their cattle and sheep in winter. One way is to not cut grass in the fall and let the hay accumulate, so that the cattle and sheep can dig out snow and eat grass in the winter.
Another method involves harvesting the summer grass and bundling it into large, round bundles, each weighing approximately 500 to 800 kilograms. This serves as food for cattle and sheep during the winter.
Autumn arrived unexpectedly, and Caesar had already ordered his men to quickly bundle the harvested grass into round bales.
Fortunately, Black Pine Valley is large enough with diverse terrain and abundant grasslands, so even if only a small amount of round bales are made, it is not a problem to feed cattle and sheep.
Caesar took his cowboy hat from the coat rack beside him, put it on his head, and strode out of the council chamber.
……
Daryl walked briskly back to his motorcycle, took off his helmet from the motorcycle, put it on, and with a long stride, mounted the motorcycle.
Twist the throttle, and the motorcycle shot off.
Daryl drove his motorcycle along a main road into the residential area, walked along a street, and stopped in front of a small building that looked no different from the others.
On the steps in front of the small building, there are some children's drawings, depicting two adults and one child.
Both adults had short hair, just different colors, one black and one white, while the child had long hair.
Daryl knew that the adult in the painting was not Sophia's biological father, but rather his own distant friend.
This is what Sofia told herself in private.
Daryl chuckled a few times at the time. The adult with short black hair was drawn very thin, clearly not Ed, the fat man.
The painting also depicts scenes of people running on the grassland, creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere.
Besides the paintings, there are some tools and handmade items placed outside, which decorate the facade of the small building with a lively atmosphere.
There were several potted flowers on the wooden fence in front of the small building. They weren't any famous flowers, just some unknown wildflowers from the grasslands and forests.
Although it is not well-known, it still blooms tenaciously.
Sofia loved these flowers, especially one with golden stamens and white petals that looked like a fried egg.
That flower is called the Cherokee rose.
That was also the first flower Daryl gave to Sofia.
The motorcycle was making a lot of noise, and hurried footsteps could be heard from inside the house.
Then, the door opened.
Sofia's hair had grown much longer, and her face was beaming with a smile. She finally seemed to have the cheerfulness of someone her age.
"Daryl, you've come!"
A gentle voice came from behind Sofia, "Sweetheart, you should call Daryl Uncle, not Daryl."
Sofia's face fell, and she shrugged, looking at Daryl as if to say, "See? This is my mom, so nagging."
Daryl leaned back on the seat, chuckled twice, and turned around to take something out of the bag next to the motorcycle.
Seeing the gift, Sophia happily took a few steps forward and came closer.
"Sophia?" Carol, wearing an apron and thick heat-resistant gloves, stepped out of the room.
"what!"
Sofia screamed, holding a teddy bear, her face full of excitement and joy. She jumped up and down several times, then hugged the teddy bear and kissed it several times.
"My teddy bear!"
Sofia picked up the teddy bear, looking at it from left to right, her eyes filled with endless joy.
"Thank you, Uncle Daryl," Sophia said sullenly as she buried her face in Daryl's arms.
Daryl seemed a little disoriented, his face showing panic and unease as he turned to look.
Carole, with tears in her eyes and a smile on her face, looked at him silently and said, "Thank you. You've sacrificed more than her biological father."
Daryl hesitated before embracing Sophia and gently patting her twice.
……
Today, Caesar has a mission.
The sky was thick with fog in the early morning.
Armored vehicles roared through the fog and quickly arrived in Atlanta.
As the weather cooled, Atlanta appeared even more desolate and dilapidated, with a cold, apocalyptic hue.
The convoy stopped in a quiet, open area on the outskirts of Atlanta.
Everyone in the convoy was making preparations in an orderly manner. Each person was wearing a standard bomb suit with added cowhide to protect vulnerable areas. It was very tough and would not be easily damaged.
Even the zombie's old teeth couldn't damage it.
After the preparations were complete, Caesar raised his hand to check his watch, then looked at the others: "Split up and end the search promptly at 11 o'clock."
"clear."
As the responses came, Caesar spotted Andrea and Carol in the crowd.
"Morales, call the two of them to come with us."
Morales nodded, said nothing more, and went straight up to talk to their captain.
"Boss, what do you want with them?" Moore leaned closer, squinting at Carol and Andrea, his face full of curiosity.
Caesar glanced at Mohr. "Do you remember the group that chased Guillermo last time?"
Mohr narrowed his eyes.
At that time, the enemy had strong firepower and sophisticated weapons, even better than their own troops, indicating that the enemy had a rich arsenal.
A large arsenal means an ample food supply.
Moore thought of the weapons the other side had, as well as their abundant supplies.
That's enough to feed a whole camp. How abundant that would be!
An astonishing amount of tobacco and alcohol!
Mohr glanced at Carol and Andrea, realizing something, and turned to Caesar, saying, "I understand, boss."
"Whatever you say, I will have no objection."
After saying that, Moore's face showed a hint of flattery as he rubbed his hands together. "Could you give our team a bigger share of cigarettes and alcohol later?"
Seeing Mor's expression, Caesar chuckled in exasperation.
However, when there is enough food, tobacco and alcohol can indeed be very motivating.
Caesar waved his hand, "Alright, alright, I'll leave more for your squad later."
"Hey, hey, thank you, boss." Moore's bowing and scraping manner was rather amusing.
Then, Caesar slowly added, "You need to discuss it with the other squads first."
Moore's face darkened instantly.
