Before Glenn could react, Maggie suddenly opened her eyes, a look of pain flashing across her face.

"Hey, you idiot."

Glenn looked at Maggie's face and thought he was hallucinating, but Maggie's voice broke the illusion.

Glenn forced a smile, his emotions plummeting to rock bottom before instantly rebounding. He asked anxiously, "Are you alright?"

Maggie frowned, glancing at herself. "Do you think I'm okay?"

"Hurry up and go call someone!"

Maggie's scolding finally made Glenn feel a little more real.

Maggie's gunshot wound threw him into a panic, but her recovery brought him joy and also stirred up a complex mix of emotions within him.

But this situation was not a good place for him to express his emotions.

After Glenn found a member of the team responsible for treating external injuries, the member performed a series of treatments on Maggie.

The team member said to Maggie, "Your injuries aren't serious. The bullet was stopped by the bulletproof shield. You only suffered some internal injuries. You'll be fine after a short rest."

This situation was so common that Glenn felt somewhat ashamed; it was something that happened frequently, yet he was flustered because he cared about it.

"I'm sorry, Maggie."

Glenn lowered his head, looking somewhat dejected. He didn't know how to face Hershel, or how to face the promise he had made to Hershel.

Seeing Glenn looking like a wronged puppy, Maggie's heart melted instantly. She gently hugged Glenn's head and whispered, "You don't need to apologize. I know it's not your fault. It was an accident, an accident that would have happened no matter what."

Breaking free from Maggie's grasp, Glenn straightened up and said with a serious expression, "But I can't accept it. I don't want you to get hurt with me. It's my responsibility, and I can't shirk it."

"I'm sorry, Maggie."

Glenn stepped back a few paces, leaving Maggie to rest alone in the car.

Maggie pursed her lips; she didn't understand why Glenn would act this way.

After collecting the supplies, the team drove back to Huangshi.

Throughout the journey, Maggie and Glenn sat in the same car but did not speak to each other, creating an unusually heavy atmosphere.

This left their teammates speechless; they could only communicate with their eyes, asking their comrades what had happened and why this was happening.

Unfortunately, even Maggie, who was directly involved, didn't understand why.

Soon, the car stopped in a parking lot in Huangshi.

Glenn got out of the car first and quickly walked to the other side to meet Maggie, who was also getting out of the car.

Maggie was shot in the abdomen, leaving a bruise. She had some difficulty moving around, and the pain from the bruise caused her to hiss.

Seeing Glenn's outstretched arm, Maggie gritted her teeth, slapped Glenn's hand away, and staggered towards her home.

Glenn pursed his lips, and without hesitation, handed the equipment to his teammate, "Help me organize and put the equipment away."

After saying that, Glenn quickly approached Maggie, squatted down in front of her, and said, "Come on up."

Maggie looked at Glenn's broad back, a slight smile playing on her lips, then quickly suppressed it, turned her face away, and walked past Glenn. "No."

"Eh, eh, eh!"

Glenn couldn't bear to see Maggie enduring the pain, so he forcibly carried her on his back.

Maggie climbed onto Glenn's back, straightened her upper body, and patted Glenn's back a few times, but he finally stopped struggling.

Glenn ignored Maggie's slapping and simply said, "Be careful not to fall."

Maggie's lips curved into a slight smile. She turned her face away and responded almost imperceptibly, "Oh!"

After holding her upper body up for a while, Maggie finally softened up and lay on Glenn's familiar back, surrounded by his scent, and comfortably closed her eyes.

After walking for quite a while, we were about to arrive at Maggie's house.

Maggie then realized she couldn't give in so easily, and patted Glenn on the back. "Explain yourself clearly, why did you say those things today?"

Glenn paused for a moment, then stepped into a side alley.

Slowly put Maggie down, and the two faced each other.

Glenn lowered his eyes and looked at Maggie's abdomen; he knew where she was injured.

Maggie followed Glenn's gaze to her abdomen, rubbed it with her hand, and said, "I... I don't feel much pain anymore."

Glenn sighed and looked up at Maggie.

"Maggie, you should leave the combat team."

"Huh? Why?" Maggie frowned, her tone turning cold.

Glenn gritted his teeth, his shoulders relaxed, and he didn't look as strong as usual. Instead, he seemed weak and insecure, just like the delivery boy at the beginning of the apocalypse.

A slightly hoarse voice rang out.

"Maggie, I can't bear to part with you."

"I couldn't bear to see you risk your life in the combat squad. Do you know what I was thinking the moment I saw you fall?"

"I'm thinking, is it happening again? Another time when I'm powerless to do anything about it."

Just like when you were kidnapped last time, I could only stand there helplessly, watching you get hurt and being in danger.

Glenn's tone was sorrowful, but it was filled with deep emotion, which brought tears to Maggie's eyes as well.

Maggie went up and hugged Glenn. "I understand, Glenn, I understand."

Glenn pulled Maggie away and shook his head. "No, you don't understand."

"I'm afraid, I'm afraid of losing you."

"I'm so afraid of losing you that my hands and feet are shaking. That would be irresponsible to my teammates, irresponsible to the team, and irresponsible to Caesar."

"Caesar trusted me and entrusted the troops to me, asking me to bring them back safely. But because I was afraid of losing you, I lost the courage to fight the enemy, and I became emotional."

"At a time like this, I am not fit to be a captain. I will only put my teammates in danger as well."

Glenn became more and more emotional as he spoke, "I love you, Maggie."

"But this love makes me feel weak."

Maggie's lips trembled slightly, and tears welled up in her eyes. She lunged forward and threw herself into Glenn's arms, kissing him passionately.

The two entangled, inhaling each other's breath, embracing each other as if they were melting into one another's body.

After some arguing, the two opened the door to Maggie's house.

"My dad's not home. He took Beth to the plantation," Maggie explained casually as she closed the door.

Glenn didn't say anything, but as he took off his shirt, he kissed Maggie lightly.

The two carried each other into the house, and the further they went, the fewer clothes they wore.

When they got to the living room, Glenn was only wearing his underwear, and Maggie was only wearing her bra.

"Ah!" Maggie screamed and hid behind Glenn.

Glenn's face suddenly turned bright red when he saw the scene in the living room.

In the living room sat Beth, looking embarrassed, and Hershel, looking calm.

Hershel was pouring tea, and the tea had already overflowed the cup, showing that Hershel wasn't exactly calm either.
