Chapter 164 The Wind Is Hot, Time to Run

The governor was furious. He grabbed a guard next to him, snatched the gun from his hand, and quickly dodged to the side.

As he expected, the bullets followed the governor.

The guard who was standing still was riddled with bullets in an instant.

The governor dodged to the side of the audience seats, the bullet whizzing past him and striking the wall of the abandoned factory, leaving a horrifying hole.

The governor turned around and saw the hole in the wall. He thought about what marks the bullet would leave on his body, and his face turned ugly.

The gunfire continued. Glenn and Maggie entered the arena in combat stance, advancing in a three-on-three formation.

The combatants' sharp eyes were locked on the moving crowd. Even with the piercing screams, their expressions remained unchanged. Once they spotted any suspicious behavior, they would shoot and kill on the spot.

They strode toward the arena, their target clearly Michonne.

As Glenn approached the arena, he calmly issued the order: "Search for the target."

The arena was empty, with only various corpses lying on the ground.

One of them, a burly, dark-skinned man with a bare upper body, slowly opened his eyes. There was no confusion in them, only a bloodthirsty glint.

"Search in a decentralized manner."

The arena, devoid of spectators, looked exceptionally empty.

Both inside and outside the arena, there were many corpses lying there.

Glenn, Maggie, and their team members immediately split into two small teams and searched the surrounding area.

Glenn and Maggie were in one of the teams, blocking the way in front of the group. The small team was in a spindle shape, with each member having their own best vantage point.

Upon scanning the area, he noticed that the body lying on the ground was moving. He immediately opened fire without reporting or questioning the person.

Quiet and efficient.

As Glenn walked past the edge of the arena, the corpse of Shumpert raised its head, but before it could turn around, a bullet pierced its brainstem, splattering brain matter everywhere.

Just as Glenn continued forward, he heard some noise ahead, and his gaze settled on that spot.

That's at the edge of the stands; there's a high chance someone's hiding there.

"Ahead, next to the stands."

Upon receiving the order, several combatants turned around and aimed their guns at that spot.

Michonne appeared listless but energetic, one eye fixed on the man in front of her, while the other eye was swollen and unable to open.

Michonne's leg was weak, so she could only drag herself along that leg as she staggered toward the governor, her hand trembling as she held a fist-sized stone that she had just picked up from the ground.

The governor stood close to the stands, gun pointed forward, and he could hear footsteps getting closer.

He narrowed his eyes.

They're getting closer and closer; one of the footsteps sounds unusually close, and it's even a little heavy.

It seems like—just—himself.

Suddenly, a gust of evil wind swept in.

The governor felt a chill run down his spine, and he suddenly squatted down, even falling to the ground with a thud due to the force.

Thud—

The stone shattered into many pieces when it hit the cement, demonstrating the great force applied.

The governor looked up and stared directly into Michonne's hateful eyes.

The governor reacted quickly, kicking Michonne's main supporting leg.

Michonne's reaction was a beat too slow; she was immediately kicked in the shinbone, screamed in pain, and fell to the ground.

The governor, in a fit of rage, grabbed Michonne's hair and yanked it hard.

"what!"

Hearing Michonne's screams, a glint of excitement flashed in the governor's eyes.

With the help of the tugging in her hair, Michonne stumbled, trying to steady herself, but the governor suddenly let go.

He raised his steel spear, intending to execute Michonne in one swift motion.

But the two were too close together, and Michonne raised her hand to fire the gun, then swung it out with her right hand.

The stone slammed into the governor's head, and blood flowed freely.

The pain drove the governor even more insane; he slapped Michonne across the face, knocking her to the ground.

As he picked up the gun, a flash of resentment crossed the governor's mind.

I can't let her off like this; I'm going to torture her.

Yes, I'm going to smash her to death.

The madness in his heart instantly overwhelmed the fear of the approaching enemy, and the governor raised his gun with both hands.

The butt of the gun smashed into Michonne's head, making her see stars, weaken her limbs, and throw her backward a few feet.

Before she could recover, the governor, his face contorted, kicked Michonne's body violently.

Michonne bent over and flew several meters away, out of the obstruction of the audience seats.

The sudden appearance of the figure startled Glenn.

The team members and even Glenn unconsciously pointed their guns at the figure. The next second, Glenn's eyes widened and he opened his mouth to call for a halt.

"It's Michonne, cease fire."

Glenn glanced at the back of the audience, and the cunning Maggie patted Glenn on the shoulder and shouted.

"We've found Michonne, let's get her out of here right away."

"Yes, leave immediately, otherwise they will definitely chase after us, and we definitely can't stop them with our numbers." Glenn glanced at Maggie knowingly, a smile in his eyes, and said in cooperation.

They immediately surrounded Michonne.

Glenn and Maggie went to the back of the stands, where the governor was nowhere to be seen. There was a fist-sized stone on the ground, along with drops of blood, the blood on the stone appearing exceptionally red.

"He fell for the trap." Maggie looked up ahead, as if she could see the governor who had just escaped. She raised an eyebrow and spoke with a lighthearted tone.

Glenn smiled and said, "Mission accomplished. We need to get out of here quickly."

After rescuing Michonne, if their small team stayed in Woodbury, they would only face a counterattack from the enemy, and it would be difficult for them to escape unscathed.

Michonne, lying on the ground, was already delirious. After fighting for so long, coupled with the governor's brutal beating, her injuries were too severe.

But in a daze, she could see the people standing around her, and she looked up and raised her fist, trying to drive them away.

Maggie grabbed Michonne's hand and slammed her to the ground. The others took out handcuffs, cuffed Michonne, and swiftly subdued her.

Standing up, Maggie raised her hand, as if to beckon her two teammates to carry her.

But they found that Michonne, lying on the ground, was still resisting the handcuffs on her wrists. Her wounds were bleeding, and she was not even in a clear mind, yet she was still instinctively resisting.

The word "strong" involuntarily came to Maggie's mind.

"Should we give her a sedative?" Maggie suggested, looking at Glenn.

There is no guarantee that a prisoner who is not fully conscious and still capable of resistance could do anything during an evacuation.

Even making a sound could cause trouble.

Glenn had no reason to object, and readily nodded, "Attack!"

After the tranquilizer was injected into her body, the unruly Michonne finally calmed down, seemingly falling into a deep sleep.

Carrying Michonne, we retraced our steps.

The group quickly disappeared into the night. Within minutes, the roar of an off-road vehicle arrived, followed by a menacing barrage of gunfire into the air.

"Get out here, you bunch of sons of bitches."
