The Cinnabar Mole of a Beijing Circle Tycoon
Chapter 52 French Laziness
At four in the morning, Port Nice was still immersed in a dark blue silence, with only a few navigation lights flashing faintly on the sea.
Meng Jiangyu led Shen Qingyao onto the yacht. Hot coffee and blankets were already prepared on the deck. The captain smiled and nodded at them: "The wind is just right; we can catch the sunrise."
Shen Qingyao's white shirt was loosely buttoned, with a blue tank top and white hot pants underneath, and a thin silver chain tied around her exposed ankles.
Meng Jiangyu wore a light blue shirt with the sleeves casually rolled up to her forearms, and the color of her shorts matched her shirt.
The yacht slowly sailed away from the harbor, the sound of its motor carrying far across the open sea.
Shen Qingyao wrapped herself tightly in a blanket and leaned against the railing, watching the lights on the shore gradually shrink into blurry starlight before finally merging completely into the thick night.
Shen Qingyao's long hair flew in the air.
Meng Jiangyu hugged her from behind, resting his chin on the top of her head, his voice low and husky from just waking up: "Are you cold?"
"I'm not cold." She shook her head and snuggled closer to him. "Look, there are so many stars."
The dark blue sky was studded with stars, brighter than ever before, as if you could reach out and pluck them from the sky.
The waves lapped against the hull, making a rhythmic, soft sound, like the heartbeat of the earth.
After an unknown amount of time, a pale white light appeared on the eastern horizon, followed by orange-red and pink-purple hues, like a child spilling a palette, with paint flowing down the folds of the clouds.
"Come and see!" Meng Jiangyu pulled her to the bow of the ship. The rising sun was peeking over the horizon, and its golden-red light poured down, turning the sea into flowing fragments of gold.
Shen Qingyao held her breath, watching the red sun slowly leap out of the water. The light was so bright that it made her squint, but she couldn't bear to look away even a fraction of a second.
Just then, a "plop" sound came from the right side of the boat.
A group of dolphins were playing alongside the yacht, their silvery-gray backs shimmering in the sunlight. They would occasionally leap out of the water, tracing graceful arcs, and the spray from their tail fins would fall onto the sea like shattered diamonds.
"So many dolphins!" Shen Qingyao exclaimed excitedly, pointing at them with delight.
Meng Jiangyu raised her camera, and the image of the dolphin overlapped with the rising sun in the lens, while her profile was outlined with a soft contour by the golden light, more moving than any scenery.
"Are they welcoming us?" Shen Qingyao asked, somewhat surprised.
He smiled and pressed the shutter. "Yes!"
Meng Jiangyu thought to himself that they were actually running for their lives, with sharks chasing closely behind.
The yacht continued sailing into the deep sea, and the distant snow-capped mountains gradually came into view.
The snow-capped peaks, edged with gold, are reflected on the calm sea. The blue sea, white snow, and golden light create a magnificent picture in the field of vision.
Shen Qingyao leaned on Meng Jiangyu's shoulder, feeling that words were particularly inadequate at this moment.
All the praises melted into the sea breeze, leaving only the heartbeat in sync with the waves.
As the sun rose higher, the captain brought out breakfast: freshly baked baguettes and fresh oysters.
Shen Qingyao dipped the oysters in lemon juice, the salty freshness of the sea mixed with the refreshing lemon juice spreading on her tongue.
Meng Jiangyu poured her a glass of champagne, the bubbles rising in the sunlight: "A toast to the sunrise, a toast to the dolphins, a toast to us."
"Respect us."
She clinked glasses with him, the sweet, savory champagne washing over her throat, and her heart felt warm and cozy, as if it had been bathed in sunshine.
The yacht was moored smoothly on the sea, the shimmering waves dazzling the eyes.
Meng Jiangyu helped Shen Qingyao adjust the fishing rod, his fingertips gliding across the fishing line to tie a neat knot: "Relax, there will be a vibration when the fish bites the hook, don't pull too hard."
Shen Qingyao gripped the fishing rod, her elbows resting on the gunwale, watching the bait sink into the water, ripples spreading outwards.
The sea breeze ruffled her hair, causing the fishing line to sway gently. "What if I can't catch anything?"
She turned her head to look at him, a sly glint in her eyes.
"Honey, the result isn't important; what matters is the experience."
Meng Jiangyu cast his heavy bait, and the fishing rod bent into a beautiful arc.
The moment he finished speaking, the fishing rod in his hand suddenly sank. "Here it comes!"
With a flick of his wrist, the spool spun with a "sizzling" sound, and a silvery sea fish was pulled out of the water, its tail drawing a graceful arc in the air, splashing water droplets all over the two of them.
"When you don't care about gains and losses, you might be pleasantly surprised!"
Shen Qingyao clapped her hands with a smile, about to speak, when her fishing rod suddenly shook violently. She exclaimed and gripped it tightly: "It's biting!"
Meng Jiangyu quickly stepped forward, wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, and steadied the rod handle with both hands: "Reel in the line slowly, yes, with its force..."
His warm chest pressed against her back, his breath falling behind her ear, salty and damp with the sea breeze.
The fishing line was taut, waves churned on the sea, and the last fish, even bigger than the one Meng Jiangyu had caught, was pulled onto the boat, leaping and bounding on the deck, its silver scales gleaming.
"Impressive, right?" Shen Qingyao turned around and bumped his shoulder, her eyes full of pride.
He lowered his head and gently pinched the tip of her nose: "It's because I taught her well."
As the morning light dyed the sea a deep blue, the two men's buckets were already full of their catch.
Shen Qingyao and Meng Jiangyu sat at the bow of the boat, gazing at the seascape. "Is this the incredibly beautiful Mediterranean Sea described in textbooks?"
"It turns out that the names in textbooks really do become the scenery before my eyes."
"Hmm!" Meng Jiangyu poured two glasses of champagne.
"This place is like a fairytale world! It's so beautiful!"
She suddenly realized that this is probably what it means to have a peaceful and tranquil life.
"Ayu, it's so warm and comfortable here, why are there snow-capped mountains in the distance?"
"Because Nice is located at the western end of the Alps. The Alps have many high peaks that are covered in snow in winter, creating a snow-capped mountain landscape."
"That's the Alps!"
"The Alps are the name of a mountain range, and that snow-capped mountain is Mount Isola in the Alps!"
"I see!"
On the return journey, the dolphins continued to follow from a distance, with the stunning blue coastline in the distance.
Shen Qingyao sat on the deck, looking through the photos in her camera.
There are moments when the sun bursts forth, silhouettes of dolphins leaping out of the water, and Meng Jiangyu gazing at her profile in the morning light.
Each photo carries the salty dampness of the sea and the warmth of the light.
"Reluctant to leave?" Meng Jiangyu sat down beside her, his fingertips tracing the ends of her hair.
"Yes." She nodded. "It seems like all the good things in the world have been gathered here."
"We'll come back again." He held her hand, the warmth of his palm seeping through her skin. "When we're old, we'll live here, watch the sunrise every day, and watch the dolphins."
As the yacht sailed back to the harbor, the streets of Nice were already bathed in the morning light, and the parasols of the cafes were opened one after another, with the aroma of crepes and hot coffee wafting in the air.
Shen Qingyao stood on the dock and looked back. The Mediterranean Sea shimmered with a jewel-like blue under the sunlight, and the snow-capped mountains in the distance remained majestic.
The two entered a two-story coffee shop by the sea and chose a table on the second-floor terrace.
On the stone-paved street downstairs, tourists strolled leisurely with cameras on their backs, and the curtains of colorful shops were lifted by the wind, revealing a dazzling array of souvenirs inside.
The flower walls on both sides of the street were in full bloom, and bougainvillea climbed up the stone walls all over the second floor, with petals occasionally falling on Shen Qingyao.
On the distant beach, several young men were playing beach volleyball, their laughter mingling with the sound of the waves.
Shen Qingyao, wearing sunglasses, lazily lay on the table basking in the sun, her hat brim covering half her face, revealing a slight curve at the corner of her mouth.
Meng Jiangyu sat opposite her, tapping lightly on his phone screen with his fingertips. He would occasionally glance up at her, his gaze falling on her back, which rose and fell gently with her breath, like a gentle sea.
Occasionally, soft, honey-soaked French murmurs drifted from the next table.
Shen Qingyao suddenly lifted the brim of her hat and looked at Meng Jiangyu: "Ayu, falling in love with the sunshine and sea of southern France is a piece of cake."
"Hmm." He put down his phone and followed her gaze to the distant blue sky. "Even the wind here feels lazy."
"Now I finally understand what 'French languor' means," she stretched, the soft cracking of her joints mingling with laughter. "It's so comfortable... Look at those houses, creamy white with light blue, like they've been sprinkled with icing sugar."
Meng Jiangyu followed her gaze and saw that the sunlight had gilded the staggered rooftops, making them look like an overturned sugar jar.
He picked up his camera and quietly snapped a picture of her smiling with her eyes narrowed.
The wind lifted the ends of her hair, flowers fell on her shoulders, and time moved as slowly as an unfinished cup of afternoon tea.
