The Cinnabar Mole of a Beijing Circle Tycoon

Chapter 66 My Darling Has Learned to Be Prepared for Unforeseen Circumstances

As night deepened, only the warm yellow glow of the wall lamp remained in the bedroom, gently enveloping the two sleeping in each other's arms.

Around 8 p.m., Shen Qingyao woke up from her hazy sleep, the unique cedar scent lingering around her nose, familiar and comforting.

She stirred and realized that her head was pressed tightly against his warm chest, and the steady, powerful heartbeat in her ear was like a healing rhythm that instantly dispelled her lingering sleepiness.

Shen Qingyao slowly raised her head, placed her hands on either side of him, and touched his delicate, warm skin with her fingertips.

The moment she moved, Meng Jiangyu's hand, which was wrapped around her waist, naturally slid down and gently cupped her lower back. The pressure was light, but it carried a kind of indulgent affection that she couldn't break free from, as if he was instinctively protecting her even in her sleep.

She looked down at the man so close to her. The warm light outlined his high, straight nose, its lines sharp and refined. The tip of his nose was slightly red, giving him a hint of endearing simplicity.

The deep brow bone cast a small shadow under the eyelids, and the thick, long eyelashes trembled gently with each breath.

Her jawline was clearly defined, with just the right amount of angle, yet softened by the light.

Every contour was perfectly aligned with her heartbeat, and Shen Qingyao felt as if her heart had been gently bumped by something, making it go completely soft.

She couldn't help but reach out her fingertips and carefully trace the bridge of his nose, feeling the warmth and subtle texture of his skin.

A thought involuntarily popped into my mind: if they had a child, would the child also have such a beautiful nose and such deep-set eyes? The child would surely be a soft and pretty little one.

But this idea was quickly shattered by another pointed question: Will they get married?

Shen Qingyao abruptly snapped out of her thoughts, her fingertips frozen in mid-air.

She gently shook her head, silently reciting, "There's nothing inherently wrong in the world; it's just that fools create their own troubles," but she couldn't bring herself to smile.

She was ultimately just an ordinary person, unable to escape worldly concerns or avoid inner anxieties.

If one day she becomes completely immersed in his tenderness and can't extricate herself from him, but he suddenly says he wants to break up, what should she do?

Meeting someone too amazing when you're young might not be a good thing at all.

He was like a ray of light, illuminating her ordinary life, but also making her unable to see the road ahead without him.

Without him, how can I return to the peace of the past, and how can I get through those long and lonely days and nights?

These thoughts entwined her heart like vines, making her breath somewhat labored, and the gentle light in her eyes gradually turned tinged with a faint sense of melancholy.

Her fingertips were still resting on the curve of his nose when suddenly, Meng Jiangyu's hand on her waist tightened slightly, his fingertips caressing her delicate skin with a lazy warmth, as if she had just woken up.

His eyelashes trembled slightly, and his deep eyes slowly opened. In his sleepy, dark pupils, he immediately saw Shen Qingyao's face, which was so close to his.

"How long have you been awake?" His voice was hoarse from just waking up, deep and magnetic, with a slight upward inflection at the end, carrying an unconscious doting tone.

As he spoke, his warm breath brushed against her cheek, mingled with the scent of cedar, sending a shiver down her spine.

Shen Qingyao hurriedly withdrew her fingers, her eyes darting around, her cheeks flushing slightly. She instinctively tried to back away, but he held her firmly by the waist, making it impossible for her to move.

Meng Jiangyu rose slightly, his movements unusually gentle: "What's wrong? There's so much on your mind. Did you have a nightmare?"

His gaze was so sharp that it seemed to see through all her hidden unease.

Shen Qingyao bit her lower lip, shook her head, and said in a voice barely audible, "No, it's just... I just woke up and I'm a little dazed."

Meng Jiangyu, however, persisted, lowering his head to get closer to her, their noses almost touching, their warm breaths mingling.

He gazed into her evasive eyes, his tone earnest yet gentle: "Lying."

His thumb gently traced her lips. "The way you look at me is off. What are you thinking? Hmm?"

Shen Qingyao felt exposed under his gaze, and a wave of unease washed over her. Her eyes welled up slightly, and a tear slid down her cheek.

She turned her face away, wiping away her tears with her fingertips, her voice trembling with a barely perceptible sob: "It's okay!"

"Children who lie will be punished!" Meng Jiangyu's hand slowly tightened, caressing the girl's waist in his arms.

"Ugh...no!" Shen Qingyao couldn't take it anymore. "It's really okay!"

"Will you tell me or not!" Meng Jiangyu looked at her firmly. "I know your personality too well!"

A conflicted person needs a lover who can't be driven away.

Shen Qingyao's tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. "You're so mean!"

Seeing the girl in his arms like this, Meng Jiangyu thought he had hurt her and panicked, "Baby, did I hurt you by being too rough in the bathroom?"

"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry!" Meng Jiangyu stood up to check on him. "I missed you so much, I couldn't control myself!"

Meng Jiangyu turned on the light. "Although I've been exposed to it all and have a wealth of theoretical experience, I lack practical experience. If you feel unwell, you must tell me! Don't hold it in!"

Shen Qingyao kept her legs tightly closed, laughing through her tears, "No, that's not it! You're such a straight man!"

Meng Jiangyu smiled slyly, "What is that?"

Shen Qingyao realized she had been set up. "You cunning little black wolf!"

Meng Jiangyu held Shen Qingyao in his arms, leaning against the headboard, covered with a thin blanket. "So, what is my little darling worried about?"

Shen Qingyao turned to look at Meng Jiangyu, "I'm thinking... what will happen to us in the future?"

Meng Jiangyu paused, then pulled her into a tight embrace, resting his chin on the top of her head. "That's great, my darling is already thinking ahead even in times of peace."

"Silly girl," his voice whispered in her ear, filled with unwavering strength, "I don't make promises lightly, but when I do, they're for life!"

He loosened his grip on her a little, cupped her face, and made her look into his eyes.

His eyes were as deep as the night, yet filled with starlight, so earnest that they made her heart flutter.

"Shen Qingyao," he said, emphasizing each word with utmost solemnity, "the only person I, Meng Jiangyu, have ever truly loved is you. It has been that way from the very beginning, it is that way now, and it will always be that way."

"I never thought about breaking up with you," he said, gently wiping away the tears welling in her eyes. His voice was tender yet firm. "What I want isn't just temporary companionship, but a lifetime with you. To get married, have children, grow old together, and see all the sights in the world. I only want to do all of this with you."

He lowered his head and planted a deep kiss on her forehead, then kissed the corners of her reddened eyes, his tone both domineering and tenderly resolute: "So, stop overthinking. You can only be mine, in this life and the next, forever."

He pulled her back into his arms, letting her lean against his chest and listen to the steady, powerful beat of his heart.
