The Cinnabar Mole of a Beijing Circle Tycoon
Chapter 79 Where the money is, there is love.
Morning light filtered through the sheer curtains, casting soft golden rays that fell upon the disheveled bedding.
Shen Qingyao was awakened by the clear chirping of birds outside the window. The moment she regained consciousness, the soreness in her body made her ears turn bright red.
She shifted slightly and realized that Meng Jiangyu was holding her in his arms, her back pressed against his warm chest, his arms still firmly around her waist, his breath brushing against the top of her hair, carrying a faint minty scent.
She listened to the steady heartbeat of the man behind her, but the scent of last night lingered in her nostrils, and even her fingertips felt hot.
She shifted her body, and Meng Jiangyu's arm tightened around her. His deep voice, still hoarse from just waking up, sounded in her ear: "Awake?"
Shen Qingyao's ear tips turned even redder, and she softly hummed in agreement, her voice barely audible.
Meng Jiangyu chuckled softly, the vibrations of his chest sending a shiver through her skin.
"Honey, we've slept together so many times, why are you still so shy?"
Shen Qingyao did not speak.
He lowered his head and placed a gentle kiss on the top of her head, his fingertips caressing the delicate skin on her waist, his tone full of satisfied indulgence: "Sleep a little longer."
Shen Qingyao pursed her lips, turned around and buried herself in his arms, pressing her burning cheeks against his chest, and complained in a muffled voice, "It's all your fault."
Meng Jiangyu chuckled, raised his hand and ruffled her hair, his eyes filled with a tender smile that could melt hearts: "Okay, it's all my fault."
The sunlight outside the window gradually brightened, making the tenderness and warmth in the bedroom even softer.
Meng Jiangyu got up and put on his bathrobe. He turned around and saw that she was still huddled in the blankets, with only her reddened eyes showing.
"Get up," he said, walking over and bending down to pinch her cheek through the blanket, his tone full of amusement. "If you stay in bed any longer, the sun will be high in the sky."
Shen Qingyao hummed softly and slowly sat up. The blanket slipped down to her waist, revealing fine hickeys on her shoulder.
She caught Meng Jiangyu's gaze fixed there, and instantly blushed so deeply that she curled up like a silkworm in a cocoon, muttering, "You go out first."
Meng Jiangyu chuckled softly, closed the door as instructed, and walked briskly toward the kitchen.
He opened the refrigerator, which was filled with fresh ingredients.
He picked out a few strawberries, washed them, and put them in a glass bowl. He then took out eggs, toast, and milk from the cupboard, intending to make a simple breakfast.
I had just put the toast into the toaster when I heard a rustling sound behind me.
He turned around and saw Shen Qingyao wearing his shirt, the cuffs rolled up several times to reveal her slender wrists, her long hair loosely draped over her shoulders, tiptoeing into the kitchen.
He reached out and naturally pulled her into his arms, lowering his head to place a kiss on her forehead. "Are you hungry?"
Shen Qingyao nodded, the aroma of bread lingering in her nostrils. She tiptoed to look at the bread machine, then at the bright red strawberries in the bowl: "I want to eat strawberry jam."
"Okay." Meng Jiangyu turned around and took out a glass jar from the cupboard, which contained the strawberry jam he had made himself.
Sunlight streamed in through the kitchen window, bathing the two of them in a warm, golden glow.
Shen Qingyao sat on the island platform, watching Meng Jiangyu's back as he tied on an apron and cooked. Her fingertips unconsciously traced the patterns on the table, and she couldn't suppress the smile on her lips.
"Men who can cook are the most handsome!"
The toaster beeped, and Meng Jiangyu took out a loaf of toast, spread a thick layer of strawberry jam on it, and fried two soft-boiled eggs. The presentation was as exquisite as a breakfast in a Western restaurant.
"My Queen, please enjoy!"
He pushed the plate in front of Shen Qingyao, watched her take a bite of toast, and saw some sauce stains on the corner of her lips. He couldn't help but reach out and wipe it off for her, his fingertips brushing against her lips, feeling the warmth of the sauce.
The birdsong outside the window was crisp and melodious, and the kitchen was filled with the sweet aroma of bread and strawberries.
After breakfast, Meng Jiangyu took Shen Qingyao's hand and went for a walk in the park that was part of the residential complex.
The morning breeze carries the fresh scent of grass and trees, and feels cool as it brushes against your cheeks.
The community has excellent greenery, with stone paths winding through large lawns. Early risers stroll leisurely with their dogs, the sunlight falling on them, creating a warm and picturesque scene.
Shen Qingyao took Meng Jiangyu's arm, but he grabbed her wrist and they intertwined their fingers as they continued walking forward.
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the branches and leaves, casting dappled shadows that fell on the two people's clasped hands.
The two were walking slowly when a clear voice suddenly called out from behind: "Yao Yao!"
Shen Qingyao paused, turned around, and saw Lu Ying leading a dog.
"Where did the dog come from?" Shen Qingyao asked in surprise.
"I just received it. My friend had something to do, so I'm taking care of it for a few days."
"Oh, I see. How was your time after I left last night?"
Lu Ying glanced at Meng Jiangyu and coughed twice. Remembering how Jason had intercepted her and taken her home last night, she rubbed her nose sheepishly and said, "It's alright, it's alright."
Lu Ying shook the dog leash in her hand. "I'm leaving now. I won't disturb your time together."
After saying that, she waved to the two of them and slipped away with light steps.
The sun was shining brightly, and a breeze rustled through the treetops, carrying the scent of fresh grass and gently scattering their laughter into the air.
Afternoon sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting dappled shadows on the polished floor.
When the two returned from their walk, Shen Qingyao sat on the sofa in the living room, while Meng Jiangyu turned and went into the study.
A short while later, he came out with two documents, sat down next to her, and handed the documents to her.
"What is this?" Shen Qingyao took it with a puzzled look, and when she opened the first document, she found it to be a commercial insurance contract. Her name was written in the beneficiary column, and the terms clearly stated the fixed monthly income, which was quite substantial.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly flipped to the second document, which turned out to be a certificate of 2% equity in Hanhai Capital. The zeros after the string of numbers on the attached asset appraisal report made her dizzy; the market value was several billion.
Shen Qingyao looked up abruptly, her fingertips trembling slightly: "Why are you suddenly giving me this?"
"This isn't a spur-of-the-moment decision; I've been preparing these for you for a while now. The process just needs some time."
Meng Jiangyu held her hand, his fingertips warm, and said in a steady and serious tone, "Instead of giving you golden eggs, I'd rather give you a hen that lays golden eggs."
"These are the reasons I give you confidence."
Shen Qingyao bit her lip, her mind a jumbled mess. After hesitating for a long time, she finally whispered the question that had been hidden deep in her heart: "Is it... because of what happened last night?"
As soon as she finished speaking, her cheeks flushed slightly, and she lowered her eyes, not daring to look at him.
Meng Jiangyu chuckled softly, reached out and lifted her chin, making her look into his eyes.
"You little ingrate, every time I give you a gift you feel like I've done something to wrong you!"
"Can't it just be 'I love you'?"
Those deep eyes held a familiar tenderness, along with a touch of helpless indulgence.
"Silly girl," his voice was deep and pleasant, "from the first time I saw you, I thought I wanted to give you the best of everything."
He paused, his fingertips gently stroking her cheek, and added, "Remember, to me, Meng Jiangyu, you are the best girl in the world."
"I'm good to you only because I love you. Someone who loves you will only feel they haven't given you enough!"
Shen Qingyao stared at him blankly, her eyes suddenly reddening. Her heart felt filled with something warm and comforting, and even the tip of her nose felt a little sore.
Shen Qingyao's fingers tightened slightly as she gripped the contract, causing shallow creases to form on the edges of the paper.
She looked down at the enormous sum of money, her throat feeling like it was stuffed with cotton. A thousand words welled up at her lips, but they all turned into a soft, trembling whisper: "This is too valuable, I really can't accept it."
Meng Jiangyu didn't speak, but simply placed his hand over hers, his warm palm pressing against her slightly cool fingertips.
"Honey, a man's love lies where his money is!"
He picked up the pen from the coffee table, unscrewed the cap, and placed the pen between her fingers, his voice deep and resolute: "Take it."
Shen Qingyao looked up at him, her eyes glistening with tears, her eyelashes trembling slightly: "But I didn't do anything..."
"You did it." Meng Jiangyu interrupted her, gently wiping away the tears welling up in her eyes with his fingertips. "Your appearance in my life is the best gift for me."
He held her hand, and with the tip of his pen, he wrote his signature, each stroke deliberate and steady.
The ink-black handwriting fell on the snow-white paper, delicate and clear.
After signing the two documents, Shen Qingyao's eyes were completely red. She put down her pen, threw herself into his arms, wrapped her arms tightly around his waist, buried her face in his shoulder, and said in a muffled voice, "Meng Jiangyu, you are too good to me."
"You're moved by this little bit of money?" Meng Jiangyu chuckled softly, the vibration of his chest coming through her clothes. He raised his hand and ruffled her hair, his voice full of satisfied indulgence: "I think it's far from enough."
