Tiger, I rejected the iron rice bowl.
Chapter 51 Another Pot
"Phew!" Tang Li let out a long sigh, patted her chest, and looked at the guy burying his head in his rice, unable to help but chuckle, "What a complete glutton!"
Mao Xingwen and Wang Hongyi exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with curiosity and apprehension. They then turned to Tang Li and cautiously asked, "Miss Tang, do tigers always eat so voraciously?"
Tang Li shook her head and explained with a smile, "No, it's probably because he hasn't eaten in a long time due to his secure job; he must be really hungry to act like this!"
She paused, recalling Wang Yuyu's arrogant demeanor after he'd eaten his fill, and added, "If you let him eat until he's stuffed, forget about him trying to take the meat; you could just hand it to him and he wouldn't even bother to glance at it!"
The two followed her gaze to Wang Yuyu, only to see his head buried in the meat basin, his tiger paws occasionally guarding the edge of the basin, and him making "gurgling" swallowing sounds, without even having time to lift his head.
The two men nodded in agreement at the unseemly way the boy ate.
If he wasn't hungry, who would believe it!
In less than ten minutes, Wang Yuyu finished off a 20-pound bowl of meat.
He even dragged the stainless steel basin in front of him and repeatedly licked the bottom of the basin with his rough tongue, leaving not a single scrap of meat. The inner wall of the basin was licked with several shallow scratches by his tongue.
After licking the last bit, Wang Yuyu raised her head, smacked her lips, and was clearly still not full.
He turned to look at Tang Li, his amber eyes filled with a straightforward longing, as if saying, "Give me some more."
Tang Li immediately understood what he meant, smiled helplessly, turned to Mao Xingwen and the other man, and asked, "Uncles, do you have any extra meat? Judging by this, you're still not satisfied with your stable jobs!"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Mao Xingwen nodded hurriedly, his tone tinged with panic. "The captain already instructed that a lot of meat has been prepared for 'Iron Rice Bowl' (a nickname for a worker with a secure job). I'll go get it right now!"
Watching his retreating figure rush into the tent, Tang Li hurriedly called out, "Don't take too much! About ten pounds is enough; it's not good for him to eat too much!"
"Alright!" Mao Xingwen's voice came from inside the tent. In less than half a minute, he came out quickly carrying a large piece of raw meat.
But before he could throw the meat away, a yellow shadow flashed by, and the meat in his hand disappeared instantly.
Mao Xingwen stood there stunned, staring at his empty hands. It took him a long time to react before he exclaimed, "My god, that was incredibly fast! It was like a gust of wind!"
Wang Yuyu had no time to pay attention to his astonishment. She ran into the snow with the meat in her mouth and buried her head in it again, eating it in big mouthfuls.
His eating manners were as ferocious as ever, tearing at chunks of meat with his teeth. The sight sent a chill down Mao Xingwen and Wang Hongyi's spines, causing them to instinctively shrink back.
The two glanced at Tang Li beside them, who was excitedly taking photos with her phone, and instantly realized that the online saying "Sichuan-Chongqing Tyrannosaurus Rex lives up to its name" was indeed true.
Only a girl like her could keep such a fierce tiger so well under her control!
Before long, Wang Yuyu had devoured the entire ten-pound piece of meat.
He licked the bits of meat left on his paws and around his mouth, then smacked his lips. This time he finally felt full, his whole body radiating satisfaction.
"Are you full? If you're full, let's go back to the tent to rest!" Tang Li stepped forward, reached out to touch his tiger head, and said with a smile.
Wang Yu ignored her and turned to walk straight towards the large pot of stewed meat. His amber eyes were fixed on the steaming pot lid, clearly still thinking about what was inside.
Seeing this, Tang Li stomped her foot lightly, both angry and amused: "I already told you you can't eat what's in the pot! It has salt and seasonings in it, you'll get indigestion and diarrhea if you eat it! Why can't you understand human language?"
Wang Yuyu completely ignored her nagging, craning his neck to try and see what was cooking in the pot through the thick steam, his long tiger whiskers trembling slightly from the heat.
"Ugh! I'm really impressed by you!"
Tang Li sighed helplessly, strode to the pot, picked up the huge iron ladle hanging next to the stove, scooped up a piece of stewed meat that was now tender, and held it directly in front of Wang Yuyu. "Here, smell it! It's all seasoning, not what you like to eat at all. Now you believe me?"
Wang Yu looked down at the piece of meat in front of him, sniffed it lightly, and his brows furrowed instantly.
The mixed flavors of various seasonings made him feel unwell, and he had no appetite at all.
He shook his head in disgust, muttered something like "disgusting," and then turned and walked toward his tent.
Seeing this, Tang Li laughed and threw the iron ladle into the pot, quickly following after him. She didn't forget to turn back and call out to Mao Xingwen and Wang Hongyi, "Please, you two uncles, clean this up! I need to stick with my job, otherwise this guy might run around and cause trouble in the camp again!"
"It's alright, it's alright! Miss Tang, you can go without worry!" Mao Xingwen waved his hand hurriedly, watching the backs of the man and the tiger disappear into the distance. He and Wang Hongyi exchanged a glance and couldn't help but laugh.
On the way back to the tent, Wang Yuyu's curiosity was completely ignited. The rows of neat tents in the campsite looked like "mysterious strongholds" to him.
He would take two steps and then stop, his head darting towards the tent flap, his paws almost touching the fabric, clearly wanting to crawl inside and see what the people were doing.
Tang Li was prepared, and each time she quickly reached out and pressed down on his head, pushing him aside forcefully, her tone tinged with a hint of helplessness as she scolded, "Don't come any closer! He's busy with important matters; if you scare him like that, who knows what kind of trouble he might cause!"
Wang Yuyu stumbled from the push, letting out a low groan of dissatisfaction. Knowing Tang Li's temper, she could only dejectedly turn her head back and continue walking forward. Every few steps, she would glance back at the tent, her face full of resentment.
Despite the obstacles along the way, Tang Li finally managed to bring the "curious tiger" back to their tent after much effort.
As soon as Wang Yuyu entered the tent, she lay down listlessly on the sleeping bag, her tail swatting weakly at the ground, clearly still annoyed that she hadn't been able to explore the "secrets" of the tents.
"Phew!" Tang Li plopped down next to Wang Yuyu, reaching out to stroke his smooth, tiger-like head. Her tone was a mix of exasperation and amusement. "Why are you so curious? You want to crawl into every tent you see. Do you really think you're a camp patrolman?"
She paused, her tone becoming more serious: "Do you know that what you're doing will scare a lot of people! Everyone's busy hunting poachers; they don't have time to mess around with you. Don't make things worse, okay?"
Seeing Wang Yuyu's ears droop, she softened her tone and patiently explained, "This is for your own good! The poachers haven't been caught yet, and you don't want to be kidnapped by bad guys, do you?"
