Ancient Wizards: A Little Progress Every Day
Chapter 101 Joining the Team
"Are we looking in the wrong direction? We haven't seen any clues about the Flower of Solomon at all!"
Dago hovered and darted through the dim forest, a faint sense of urgency creeping into his heart.
He was not among the first wizards to enter the secret realm of "Wet Forest," nor was he the only one who knew of the existence of "Solomon's Flower."
If they continue to run around like headless flies, they might not even qualify to participate in the competition for the Flower of Solomon.
"Snap!!!"
Suddenly, Dago's expression changed, and his eyes abruptly turned in one direction.
The powerful elemental vision granted by the Dimensional Detection Technique made him feel as if he had just seen energy fluctuations indicating a battle taking place at a great distance.
Without much hesitation, Dago rushed straight towards the direction from which the sound came.
Soon, his mental field detected the fluctuations of energy particles, confirming that someone was indeed casting a large-scale spell.
But as Dago approached, the traces of this magical fluctuation weakened, as if the battle was coming to an end.
"Whoosh!"
Dago's figure suddenly stopped between the shadows of the trees. He stood quietly in mid-air, his eyes piercing through the gaps in the countless twisted and intertwined branches, and fell precisely on the figure of a wizard in a silver robe in the distance.
Even a first-ring wizard couldn't sense the mental fluctuations at this distance, yet he could see it clearly through his azure eyes.
The wizard, also from the Silverthorns faction, had a monster's corpse lying at his feet. It seemed he had just killed a monster and was sorting out his loot.
Dago shook his head in disappointment and was about to turn around and leave.
But just as he was about to turn around, he suddenly turned back sharply.
His gaze was fixed on the wizard's feet, where the edges of his animal-hide boots seemed to be tinged with a fluorescent color.
Looking further behind him, several footprints that also emitted a faint glow came into Dago's view.
"They got it without any effort; they had passed through a place where glowing moss grew."
In this damp and putrid place, the air is filled with the stench of rotting corpses, and broken bones can be seen half-buried in the soil from time to time under the twisted, black, and strange trees.
Six or seven men and women dressed in silver robes gathered in this small, dirty open space, each with a serious expression, as if they were discussing something.
"Nicole of the Bitter Thorns, I've heard a little about his name."
A brown-haired wizard with narrow eyes said in a low voice, "His puppetry skills are quite famous among wizards of the first ring."
"Personal strength is nothing special. Valentine is also standing on the threshold of becoming a second-circle wizard. Dealing with Nicole is no problem. The key is that the guy has more people under his command than we do."
A wizard spoke up.
"Could we discuss forming an alliance with that guy led by Hagen Thorn, kick Nicole and her gang out of the game first, and then decide who gets the Flower of Solomon?"
Valentine! What do you think?
In the center of the crowd, a blond youth, whose body exuded a powerful spiritual field that almost condensed the air into fluff, heard his companion's call. His eyes flashed rapidly, as if he was pondering and weighing his options.
Suddenly, he glanced around and frowned deeply.
"Where's Gynya? Has anyone seen Gynya?"
After he finished speaking, the other silver-robed wizards noticed that their small team was missing one person at some point.
Just as the group was hurriedly preparing to get up and search for their missing companion.
A series of rustling footsteps came from the bushes next to the open space, followed by a petite figure quickly darting out from the bushes.
"Stop looking! I'm here!"
The beautiful witch Ginya, with her wheat-colored skin, responded loudly while panting.
However, there was another figure following behind her.
He was a young man with a cool and aloof demeanor and extremely handsome appearance. He had black hair, blue eyes, and wore a blue robe. Who else could he be but Dago?
"It's you again?!"
The blond youth Valentine immediately recognized the boy who appeared with Ginya as the Silverthorn wizard that Ginya had tried to recruit on the airship when they arrived.
"Have you been following us all this way?"
Valentine frowned, his tone naturally revealing a hint of coldness and murderous intent.
"I happened to run into him nearby, so I pulled him in."
The beautiful witch Ginya sensed the hostility in Valentine's words and quickly stepped in front of Dagger, whispering urgently and anxiously, "Aren't we lacking in strength?"
At this moment, a wizard in silver robes also quickly stepped forward and whispered a few words in Valentine's ear.
Valentine's eyes flickered, but after a few breaths, his expression calmed down.
"Then we'll let you come with us for now."
He turned around, and seeing his change in attitude, Ginya introduced him to the group of wizards on behalf of Dago: "His name is Dago, and he comes from the Silver Tower."
Dago gave the group of magic-ring wizards in front of him a quick look.
All of them had a rating mark indicating that they were all at the mid-to-late stage of the first ring of wizards, and even the weakest one had a mental energy fluctuation that surpassed that of Dago.
According to the witch named Ginya who led him in, they were also from the Silverthorns.
Judging from their conversation, it seems that their trip into the "Wet Forest" was specifically for the "Flower of Solomon".
And it seems that they are not the only ones with the same goal.
"Well-informed, with clear goals and plans, elite wizards act as a group."
I felt a strange sense of melancholy. Compared to these people, ordinary magic circle wizards really had nothing to fight over. I should just wash up and go to sleep.
No wonder the young wizard looked at him like that when he learned he was coming to "Wet Forest" while waiting for the airship on the platform, and even advised him not to make a wasted trip.
Valentine, the blond youth who led the group of wizards, turned away from Dago after agreeing to let him join. Half of the remaining wizards turned their attention away after realizing that he was at the mid-stage of the first ring.
The other half also gradually lost interest in him after Ginya introduced him.
Their consensus was that he was an ordinary wizard with no power or background who accidentally became Ginya's kept man because of his good looks.
However, Dago remained calm and unperturbed by their disdainful looks.
He followed the clues left by the magic ring wizard whose feet were covered in glowing moss to find his way here. So far, he has not yet determined the exact location of the Flower of Solomon, but he has already sensed no less than ten late-stage first-ring wizard auras.
Although he has the strength to sweep aside his peers, it would be too foolish for him to rush out alone when the target and situation are unclear, making him the target of everyone's criticism.
He hadn't forgotten that his opponents weren't just the first-ring wizards he could sense in the open, but also those lurking in the shadows, possibly from Jareden's assassination attempts.
He planned to blend in with the group first and then make a decision on the next step after fully understanding the situation.
