"Brother Lu, honestly, what's the point of you patrolling so diligently every day?" the young man who handed him the bear-shaped cookies couldn't help but ask.

"This place is perfectly safe. With Mr. Yang's reputation, he's respected by both the legitimate and underworld circles. Nobody dares to cause trouble here."

Lu Mingfei swallowed the biscuit and patted the crumbs off his hands: "I'll do my job for the money."

Those four simple words silenced all subsequent questions from the other party.

"Alright, I should continue my patrol now." Lu Mingfei said as he continued his patrol, his gaze sweeping over the noisy dance floor, the booths, and the dimly lit corridor.

Everything was as usual; people were indulging in their pleasures with music, and no one noticed the silent security guard.

Just as he was about to finish his final patrol, he suddenly stopped in his tracks.

In the shadows of the corner of the bar, sat a man who seemed out of place with his surroundings.

The man was wearing a nice brown trench coat with the collar turned up, and a dark fedora with the brim pulled low, obscuring most of his face. He was alone, silently drinking a glass of amber-colored whiskey.

But what alerted Lu Mingfei was not his clothing or behavior, but the aura emanating from that person—a sense of danger akin to that of a wild beast smelling its own kind, or rather, smelling its natural enemy.

Almost instinctively, Lu Mingfei's hand instantly pressed down on the baton at his waist.

His pupils contracted slightly in the dim light, revealing a faint, almost imperceptible golden hue.

The man seemed to notice his gaze, slowly raised his head, and their eyes met amidst the loud music.

In an instant, Lu Mingfei felt as if all the muscle fibers in his body were suddenly taut like bowstrings, and every nerve ending was sending out alarms, preparing him to deal with any sudden attack.

But the expected conflict did not occur. The man gave him a meaningful smile across the crowd, then elegantly raised his glass, gently swirled it in Lu Mingfei's direction, and made a toasting gesture. After doing so, he stopped looking at Lu Mingfei and lowered his head to continue drinking.

Lu Mingfei's tense muscles relaxed slightly, and in the instant the other person looked up and raised his glass, he got a clear look at the man's face.

He was a foreigner with deep blue eyes and light gold hair peeking out from under his hat. He had a well-defined face and was quite handsome. The smile on his lips even had a touch of roguishness, like a European playboy who frequented brothels.

Although the foreign man didn't seem to have any ill intentions, Lu Mingfei's eyes still revealed vigilance when he looked at him, because this was the first person who made him feel threatened since he returned from the Andes Mountains.

As a security guard hired by the Golden Banquet, his job was to ensure that the other party did not cause trouble here. He was paid to do nothing, and if he did nothing, he would feel like he was burning his hands with that monthly salary of ten thousand.

Lu Mingfei didn't bother the foreign man; after all, he was a customer here before any trouble was caused.

Lu Mingfei sat in another corner. He called the bartender to bring him a bottle of beer, and then slowly sipped it. His gaze seemed to casually sweep across the room, but in reality, his focus remained fixed on that corner.

About ten minutes after the blue-eyed foreigner sat there alone, two very pretty girls sat down next to him.

Those were the service staff at the gilded banquet who were specifically there to drink and chat with the guests and liven up the atmosphere.

The blue-eyed foreign man chatted and laughed with two hostesses. He spoke Mandarin very well, with no accent, and his elegant and proper manners made the two girls laugh continuously. He looked like an ordinary pleasure seeker.

Time passed by, and it was nearly three in the morning. The foreign man seemed to have had his fill of fun. He took out his wallet, paid the bill readily, and gave the two girls a generous tip. He stood up, straightened his trench coat, and headed towards the restroom.

Lu Mingfei immediately got up, maintained a safe distance, and followed as if nothing had happened.

There was no one else in the restroom. The man stood in front of the urinal, while Lu Mingfei pretended to fix his hair at the sink, observing the other man's every move through the mirror.

The foreign man paid no attention to his presence. He took care of his own needs, walked to another sink, slowly washed his hands, dried them with a tissue, then looked in the mirror, smoothed his light blond hair, and even gave a narcissistic wink before leaving the restroom and walking straight out of the Gilded Banquet.

At this moment, a flashy yellow McLaren was already parked outside the Golden Banquet Hall. The two girls who had been accompanying them earlier were still sitting in the McLaren. After the foreign man got in, he stepped on the gas, and the McLaren shot off like an arrow.

Lu Mingfei only relaxed completely after watching the flashy McLaren completely disappear from his sight.

"Brother Lu, what's wrong? You look nervous?" The man in the suit who had been holding the bear-shaped cookies earlier asked as he approached Lu Mingfei.

"Do you know the foreign man who just drove the McLaren?" Lu Mingfei asked softly.

"Oh~ you mean Mr. Pompeii!" the young man in the suit exclaimed in realization, a smile of envy mixed with a hint of flattery immediately spreading across his face.

"He's one of our most famous patrons at the Golden Banquet, a notorious playboy from Italy. He's incredibly wealthy and spends lavishly, with tips starting at hundreds or even thousands of euros. Sometimes, when he's in a good mood, he'll even book the whole place. He's been a regular since our venue opened, and he comes every few months."

"Every girl here dreams of climbing into Mr. Pompeii's bed. The money she earns in one go is equivalent to a month's worth of hard work. Tsk tsk, it's a pity I'm not a woman, otherwise I would do anything to climb up to him!" He smacked his lips, his tone full of undisguised regret.

"Pompeii?" Lu Mingfei repeated the name, his brows furrowing slightly. This playboy seemed completely out of place with the sense of danger he had just felt.

"I heard his family runs a luxury goods business in Europe, and some of their production lines and factories are located in our city. So they regularly fly to this city every year to inspect their business and, incidentally, bring us a gilded banquet... Relax, you know what I mean."

The young man in the suit winked and gave a knowing smile that any man would understand.

"What's wrong, Brother Lu? Is there something wrong with him?"

"No, I was just asking." Lu Mingfei shook his head, temporarily suppressing his doubts.

Perhaps... he's just being overly sensitive. One of the symptoms of PTSD is hypervigilance. Maybe the other person really is just a particularly wealthy playboy.

It seems that the process of treating PTSD is a long and arduous one.

"Alright, Brother Lu, stop thinking about it. It's time to go home!" The young man in the suit patted Lu Mingfei on the shoulder and said.

"Don't you have school tomorrow? Go home and get some rest. See you tomorrow!"

Lu Mingfei nodded, stopped thinking about it, and turned to walk towards the staff changing room. He took off his security guard uniform and changed back into his ordinary gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

However, when he walked back to the brightly lit entrance of the Golden Banquet, he found that it was pouring rain outside.
