Mo Chashan looked up, quickly put down his chopsticks and stood up: "Dad, what brings you here? Have you had breakfast?"

Jiang Hui quickly stood up as well: "Dad."

The visitor was none other than Mo Weiguo.

The old man was wearing faded old military-style clothes, his posture was straight, and although his hair was gray, his eyes were still sharp.

He walked in with his hands behind his back, his face expressionless, his gaze sweeping over his son and daughter-in-law.

"Sit down and talk." Mo Weiguo sat down in the empty seat, his voice not loud, but carrying his usual authority.

"I heard I have a great-granddaughter."

Mo Chashan and Jiang Hui both felt a sudden jolt in their hearts.

"Such a big matter," Mo Weiguo's eyes shone brightly.

"Are you two planning to keep this from this old man forever?"

I overheard it from old Zhang next door during his stroll. "What, you've grown too big for your britches and think you don't need to tell me anymore?"

Mo Chashan and Jiang Hui looked a little embarrassed by what they were being told.

It does feel a bit strange to be told by one's father that one's "wings have hardened" at such an old age.

"Dad, I didn't mean to hide it from you," Mo Chashan quickly explained.

"We just found out about this, and we haven't fully figured out the specifics of Xiao Mo's situation yet. We were afraid that if we spoke rashly, you would worry."

I was thinking of asking around and then telling you properly when the child comes back for the Dragon Boat Festival.

Mo Weiguo snorted, his gaze still sharp: "I bet you're afraid that if I find out, you'll break that brat Mo Ye's legs, aren't you?"

Mo Chashan awkwardly touched his nose.

He did have these concerns; the old man was extremely intolerant of any flaws, and he placed particular importance on responsibility and character.

However, Mo Weiguo's next words stunned both of them.

"I've been teaching for decades, so I still understand the principles."

The old man picked up the tea that Jiang Hui had hurriedly poured for him and took a sip:

"Everyone says that teaching should keep up with the times and evolve. Am I, this old man, becoming more and more backward in my teaching, turning into a rigid old man?"

He paused, put down his teacup, and asked casually, but his slightly forward-leaning posture betrayed a hint of urgency:

"Do you have a picture of my great-granddaughter? Let me see it."

Jiang Hui realized what was happening, was overjoyed, and nodded quickly:

"Yes, yes, yes! I took several pictures, although they're a bit blurry..."

She frantically pulled out her phone, unlocked it, scrolled through the photo album, and handed it over.

Mo Weiguo took the phone, put on his reading glasses, and leaned close to the screen to examine it carefully.

On the screen, Tongtong's expressions—whether crying or laughing, well-behaved or mischievous—are clearly displayed.

As the old man watched, his usually tightly pursed and unusually serious lips involuntarily curved upwards into a soft arc.

The sharpness in his eyes was replaced by an almost astonishing gentleness.

"This little face..." he murmured softly, his fingertips unconsciously stroking Tongtong's face on the screen.

"So adorable. Look at those eyes, that nose... it's just like, just like Xiao Mo when he was little."

Mo Chashan and Jiang Hui exchanged a glance, both seeing disbelief and surprise on each other's faces.

The old man... actually smiled? And he smiled so... kindly?

In their memory, the old man had never shown this kind of expression to his own mischievous son.

After looking at it for a while, Mo Weiguo handed the phone back to Jiang Hui, cleared his throat, and resumed his usual calm tone: "You guys just said you were going shopping this afternoon?"

"Yes, go buy Tongtong a gift. She likes pony toys," Mo Chashan replied.

Mo Weiguo pondered for a moment and then said, "That's perfect. Bring me back one of those... smartphones too."

"A smartphone?" Mo Chashan was taken aback.

"Hmm." Mo Weiguo nodded, with a good reason, "I heard that thing can play videos and you can see them clearly."

My old guy (referring to his basic mobile phone) doesn't have this function.

Mo Chashan immediately understood his father's thoughts; he wanted to see his great-granddaughter at any time! He quickly agreed:

"Okay, I'll buy one for you this afternoon, and I'll teach you how to use it."

Mo Weiguo nodded in satisfaction, then asked, "Did that brat Mo Ye say exactly when he's bringing my little darling back?"

"I said I'd be back for the Dragon Boat Festival," Jiang Hui quickly replied.

"Dragon Boat Festival..." Mo Weiguo pondered for a moment, then made a decision, "Alright, I'll come and stay with you for a few days during the Dragon Boat Festival."

Mo Chashan was taken aback again.

In the past, during holidays, they would invite the old man three or four times, but he would never come. He preferred to stay in the quiet old house at the end of the village and rarely wanted to come over.

This time they actually volunteered to come?

Mo Weiguo caught a glimpse of his son's surprised expression and raised an eyebrow:

"What? Can't I stay at my son's house for a few days, old man?"

"Yes! Of course!" Mo Chashan snapped out of his daze, beaming with joy.

"Your room is always kept clean and ready to move in anytime!"

"That's more like it." Mo Weiguo's expression softened, and he asked a few more questions about Tongtong's preferences. After learning that she really liked a certain kind of "singing and spinning pony".

He then walked away slowly, hands behind his back.

But his back view seemed much lighter than when he came.

Mo Ye put his phone back in his pocket, hopped on his electric scooter, and rode towards school in the morning breeze.

He had no classes in the morning, so he went straight back to his dormitory.

As soon as the key was inserted into the lock, a chaotic commotion erupted inside.

As soon as the door opened, Shen Qing and Wang Jie poked their heads out from their respective upper bunks almost simultaneously, their eyes gleaming brightly, showing no trace of the confusion of just waking up.

"Holy crap! Mo Ye! You're finally back!" Shen Qing flipped over and nimbly climbed down the ladder, not even caring that her slippers were on backwards.

"Tell me the truth, was that woman yesterday... really your sister-in-law?"

Wang Jie also slowly climbed down, adjusted his glasses, and his gaze behind the lenses was full of scrutiny:

"She's at least ten times more beautiful than in the photos. Her aura is absolutely stunning."

Shen Qing nodded vigorously, looking heartbroken:

"Did you save the galaxy in your past life? No, wait, did you blow up a black hole and reshape the universe? How did a goddess of your caliber fall for you?"

They were so envious they were itching to get over it; they were so jealous!

A gap? This isn't a gap!

This is a fucking chasm!

Wang Jie walked to Mo Ye's side, patted him on the shoulder, and spoke in a heavy tone with a hint of pleading:

"Brother, don't hold back. Tell me how you won over your sister-in-law. I need to take notes." He then made a move to grab a notebook.

Shen Qing grabbed Mo Ye's shoulders: "Hand over the Burning Technique now!"

Mo Ye was cornered at the door by the two of them, feeling both amused and exasperated. He put down his backpack, thought for a moment, and then spoke the truth:

"Hmm... to be precise... she approached me first."

The air was silent for two seconds.

Shen Qing and Wang Jie exchanged a glance, then turned back to look at Mo Ye with eyes filled with silent accusation and the question, "Do I look like an idiot to you?"

Shen Qing said quietly, "Someone of your sister-in-law's caliber would actively seek you out? Mo Ye, we're brothers, honesty is a virtue."

Wang Jie added, "Based on statistical principles and general social perception, the credibility of what you just said is less than one percent."
