Re:Zero -Starting Life in Zero

Chapter 103 The Elf Girl's Blind Spot

The follow-up work on the Battle of Moby-Dick was proceeding smoothly, and at Green's request, everything was being done in a simplified and swift manner.

Crusch only ordered his men to saw off the white whale's horn and transport it back to the capital. The wounded, the dead, and most of the soldiers left with the convoy overnight.

Only about a hundred people remained at the scene, all of whom were seasoned veterans.

The crackling campfire dispelled the lingering smell of blood and monsters in the night air.

Green pulled his coat tighter around himself and stretched out his hands to warm them by the fire.

Rem carried the warm broth to him and sat down beside him.

She didn't rush to speak, but gently stirred the soup noodles with a wooden spoon, then leaned closer, raised her wrist slightly, and brought the spoon to Green's lips.

"Darling, open your mouth."

Seeing Green swallow, she smiled, her eyes warmer than the light of the campfire.

"Shouldn't you blow on it for me?"

"Okay, darling—"

Just then, a flurry of footsteps approached from afar.

Mimi, with her short, unruly orange hair sticking up all over her head, darted over, her tail swishing like a rattle, and clutching a small, warm, dark red piece of meat in her hand.

"Grin! This! This is super delicious!"

With her bright, round eyes shining, she ignored the fact that Green had just finished drinking his soup, stood on tiptoe, and shoved the piece of liver right into Green's mouth with such force that it almost poked his nose.

"It's beluga whale liver! Big Sister Phyllis checked and said it's safe to eat. Mimi just had a small bite, it's super chewy! You should eat it!"

"Screw you, don't shove it in my face!"

Green was so badly rebuked that he almost fell to the ground, and hurriedly reached out to hold Mimi's wrist.

"It's really delicious, please try some!"

"Then...then you grill it first, I only eat cooked food."

Green had no other choice but to reluctantly agree.

Mimi became even more excited upon hearing this, and pulled out a small dagger to stab the liver and put it on the fire to roast.

The flames licked at the pieces of meat, making a sizzling sound.

The little girl was very serious about grilling, watching the meat pieces carefully as if afraid of burning them even a little bit.

Seeing that it was almost done roasting, Mimi immediately turned the knife around and poked the liver back into Green's mouth.

"Take a bite, just one bite!"

Unable to resist Mimi's enthusiasm, Green tentatively took a bite.

The aroma of charcoal fire mixed with a faint fishy smell spread in the mouth, and the texture was somewhat like foie gras.

"Hmm, it's alright."

After all, beluga whales were born into this world as food, but this big guy's fighting power is so incredible that no one dares to think about it in this way.

Rem scooped up a spoonful of hot soup and put it in her mouth, her eyes fixed warily on Mimi's petite back.

"Mimi-chan, Rem seems to remember that you cat-like beastmen hunt wild beasts and eat their entrails, which seems to be a courtship practice, right?"

Mimi's movements suddenly stopped, her hand holding the dagger froze in mid-air, and her tail, which had been wagging wildly, instantly straightened.

She turned around in a panic, her round eyes wide open, and tried to explain, "Rem, what nonsense are you talking about! Mimi just thinks this tastes good."

"Pah, pah, pah! So you're trying to send me to jail, aren't you?"

Green cleared his mouth and hurriedly brushed his tongue away.

Mimi dropped the dagger, covered Green's mouth with both hands, and smiled smugly.

"Haha, Mimi saw you swallow it!"

Green groaned as she covered his mouth, struggling to pry her hands off.

"Are you asking for a beating?"

After saying that, he put Mimi's two wrists together and lifted her up with one hand.

Mimi wagged her tail and grinned foolishly, "Brother Green, now that you've eaten Mimi's gift, you're Mimi's person!"

Green said fiercely, "I'll tie a dragon emblem to the front of your car in a bit."

"Okay, Green, you can't scare children." Rem put down the soup bowl and took Mimi from Green's arms.

Mimi waved her hands happily in Rem's arms: "Mimi is not a child. Mimi is already an adult. It's just that she is a cat-like beastman, so she is not tall."

Upon hearing this, Rem's eyes sharpened, and she adopted a professional maid's smile.

"I see. It's getting late. Rem, take Miss Mimi back to the Iron Fang's camp first."

"Wait, Mimi needs to stay with Green!"

……

Green narrowed his eyes and smiled faintly.

Mimi is probably obsessed with the aura and demeanor of the "Beast Prince".

He picked up the soup bowl Rem had left behind and continued to replenish his energy; food is precious and should not be wasted.

"Feed...Grimm."

A timid girl's voice rang out beside the dark tent.

Emilia clasped her hands tightly to her chest, looking around warily. Only after confirming that Grin was alone did she quietly approach.

Green chewed on the pieces of meat in his mouth, watching Emilia's bewildering behavior with great interest; a mischievous idea was forming in his mind.

"Don't be afraid, Leah, your husband probably hasn't found out."

"You're going to die—"

Emilia glared at Green before sitting down next to him.

Green immediately scooped up a spoonful of soup and handed it to him.

"Want something to eat?"

"No...no need."

……

Green shrugged, took back the spoon, and ate it with relish.

The atmosphere at the scene fell silent once again.

Emilia took several deep breaths, as if gathering her courage.

Finally, she made up her mind and reached out to tug at Larrin's sleeve.

"Green..."

"Hmm, what's wrong with you, Lia? You look strange."

"Well... Rem and I talked a lot in the flower field..."

Emilia lowered her head, pointing her index finger to her palm with her small hands. "She said kissing won't result in a baby."

This knowledge was still quite shocking to her.

From a young age, she was misled by the great elf Puck and firmly believed that kissing a boy would result in pregnancy.

Green couldn't help but smile and nod approvingly.

"There's definitely no way. You can't completely trust everything Parker teaches you; you have to learn to make your own judgments."

"Okay, I understand."

Emilia's tone grew firmer, and she leaned slightly closer to Grimm, continuing, "In that case, we should be able to kiss, right?"

puff!

Green spat out all the food in his mouth.

"Huh? How did you come to that conclusion?"

Emilia looked flustered and waved her hands rapidly.

"Just like Rem said, even best friends can kiss... like a contract, it can forge an even stronger friendship..."

"What?! How could Rem... She... What she said is actually true..."

It only took Green three seconds to convince himself. He cleared his throat and slowly moved closer to Emilia.

The girl was terrified and raised her hand to gently block him.

"Wait, Green... are you sure there won't be a baby...?"

Green stopped leaning closer, cupped Emilia's flushed cheeks, and nodded firmly: "No, Emilia, trust me."
