Chapter 91 The Kind Little Girl
I thought you guys would climb over the wall to get in, but I didn't expect you to have such good composure, you actually came in through the front door.
Elsa smiled and looked up, the corners of her eyes revealing a touch of nonchalant gentleness: "That little kitten was quite enthusiastic; it came to us as soon as it came in."
Mary nodded: "Mimi said we have your scent on us."
Green suddenly realized, and secretly thought to himself, that little brat really did always love to stick around him and sniff him around without any manners.
Mary glanced at Elsa, her brows furrowing slightly, as if she had remembered something troublesome.
"That was close! When the guards questioned her, Elsa stupidly introduced herself as a gut hunter."
Upon hearing this, Elsa gently brushed her fingertips through the strands of hair that fell over her shoulders, her smile remaining calm and composed, without a trace of panic.
"It's okay, Mary. Sometimes when you tell the truth, people will take it as a joke."
Meryl frowned, her tone serious as she argued, "You won't always run into idiots like this. I think next time you should forge an identity first."
Elsa didn't argue further. She walked slowly to the desk and gracefully pulled over a chair.
As she knelt down, her skirt rippled with a delicate curve, and the gentleness in her eyes made one momentarily forget her fearsome reputation.
"Oh dear~ Let's leave this to Green-kun, he's the best at lying."
Green shrugged, looking unconvinced: "What's there to fake? You're Elsa the Bowel Hunter, and she's Melly the Beastmaster. Isn't that perfect?"
Mary protested loudly, "No, I'm determined to leave the assassin organization! You better come up with a new codename right now!"
Upon hearing this, Green unconsciously rubbed his chin with his fingertips, his brows furrowed slightly, and his gaze scanned back and forth between Melly and Elsa's chests.
"Then let's call them Big Bear and Little Bear."
Meili raised an eyebrow and gritted her teeth, making a grinding sound.
"Be serious, I'm giving you one last chance!"
Seeing that the little girl was not satisfied, Green fell into deep thought again.
Just a second before Mary couldn't help but urge him again, his eyes suddenly lit up, he slapped his thigh hard, and a smug smile appeared on his face.
"Got it!"
He then pointed at Elsa and said in a serious tone, "Your codename is Intestinal Danger, and Merry's is Fortune."
Elsa smiled nonchalantly, "That's quite meaningful, Mr. Grin."
Mary was completely bewildered: "Why does the code name 'Laifu' sound weird? Is that a code name used by humans?"
Green walked up to Meryl with a sincere expression, patted her on the shoulder solemnly, and spoke with unwavering certainty.
"Wow, that's a very powerful code name. It means that even Reinhard would be very impressed with you, hence the name 'Reinhard'."
Mary's eyes lit up; her furrowed brows instantly relaxed, and her eyes sparkled as if filled with shattered gold.
She instinctively straightened her back, clenched her small fists and pressed them to her lips, her tone full of excitement: "Really? Even a sword saint like Reinhard would admire you?"
Green nodded, his expression solemn and genuine.
In reality, he kept a poker face so as not to laugh.
"That's for sure, and your code name even has a secret code!"
Mary, her eyes brimming with curiosity, couldn't help but lean forward. "Wow! What kind of code is that?"
Green beckoned to Mary, gesturing for her to come closer, then whispered in her ear, each word distinct:
"It's 'zhuozhuozhuo,' a rapid sound that's both discreet and easily recognizable. From now on, when I make 'zhuozhuozhuo,' you'll know I'm calling you."
Mary looked up, bewildered, her eyes filled with confusion, clearly not understanding the intricacies of the situation.
"Um... I still feel something's off."
"Oh dear, you don't understand? You're just too uneducated. Once the white whale matter is over, I'll send you to an academy for further studies."
Green waved his hand dismissively, thinking he could just brush the matter off.
A casual remark startled Mary. Her clenched fist slowly loosened, and the elation in her eyes seemed to be extinguished by the sudden drop in temperature. Even her voice softened: "The academy?"
She lowered her eyes, her gaze falling on the tips of her slightly dusty boots, her fingertips unconsciously kneading the hem of her clothes.
From the time she could remember, her world consisted only of fighting, commands, and the roars of monsters.
The so-called academy, the so-called sitting in a bright and clean room to read and write, were nothing but unattainable bubbles for her.
After a long silence, Mary suddenly raised her head, a glimmer of light returning to her eyes, as if she had made up her mind. Her tone carried a hint of seriousness that was barely perceptible.
"Then... once we've dealt with the white whale, you can't back out!"
Green was busy thinking of another excuse to fool her when he heard this. He paused for a moment, and when he saw the cautious expectation in the girl's eyes, his heart suddenly skipped a beat. He could only bite the bullet and wave his hand.
"I know, I know, I will never go back on my word."
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed down the corridor again, accompanied by Mimi's silly giggles as they drew closer.
"Big brother, Mimi's back!"
As soon as the little girl rushed in, she threw a huge pile of clothes at Green.
Green clumsily caught the pile of soft fabric, grabbed a light purple shirt, shook it out, and put it on, scoffing, "Hmph, you know what's good for you."
Unexpectedly, just as the collar touched her chin, her arms were tightened and she couldn't move, and her lower back felt as if it were wrapped with a belt.
"Tsk, what is this thing? The size is outrageous."
Green tugged at his collar, baring his teeth, and was about to ask Mimi what was going on when he heard Elsa suddenly chuckle.
"Mr. Green, this looks like women's clothing."
"What?!"
Green's eyes narrowed, and a surge of anger shot straight to the top of his head.
With a sudden, forceful tug, a sharp "rip" was heard, and the light purple shirt was instantly torn in two.
Seeing this, Mimi clapped her hands vigorously.
"Oh! Big brother is so amazing, he tore the young lady's favorite clothes in one go!"
Green understood; these were Anastasia's clothes.
He laughed in anger, "I'd better tear your mouth apart first."
Seeing that Green was really angry, Mimi quickly begged for forgiveness.
"I'm sorry, big brother, but Miss's clothes are the cleanest clothes Mimi could find."
As she spoke, she skipped to the door, poured a glass of water for Green, and handed it to him, tilting her little face up and saying ingratiatingly, "Big brother, calm down, Mimi poured you some water!"
Green took a deep breath, which calmed his anger slightly.
He took the water glass, tilted his head back and took a big gulp. His gaze inadvertently swept over the cabinet by the door, and his pupils suddenly contracted—on it sat a familiar teapot.
"Hey, didn't I already throw that teapot away?"
Mimi immediately skipped over to show off, her little face full of pride.
"Mimi just found it downstairs. It smells like your older brother. You must have accidentally lost it, right?"
"Holy crap..."
Green froze instantly, stopping his swallowing motion, the spilled tea dripping from the corner of his mouth.
