Hearing footsteps, Li Zhiyi turned around, her eyes swollen like walnuts.

"Chen Zhi." Her voice was completely hoarse.

Chen Zhi walked over, gently pressed on her shoulder, then bent down and leaned close to the hospital bed.

"Grandpa, are you feeling better?"

Li Jianjian heard the sound and struggled to open his eyes.

His eyes darted around, his gaze landing on Chen Zhi's face. He wanted to smile, but his facial muscles wouldn't cooperate.

He moved his lips.

Li Zhiyi quickly moved the oxygen mask slightly to create a small gap.

"Xiao Chen..." Li Jianjun's voice was very weak, "I...I don't know how much longer I can stay with Zhiyi."

"Grandpa, don't worry," Chen Zhi said softly. "The doctor said the worst is over. We'll go to the Third Provincial Hospital when it's light. The conditions there are better, and we can be transferred back to a regular ward after a few days."

Li Jianjun shook his head slightly, his breathing becoming somewhat rapid.

"I know my own body."

He took a couple of breaths and slowly turned his gaze to Li Zhiyi.

"This child... has had a hard life. He has never had a father or mother's love since he was a child, and he has suffered a lot of grievances while living with us two old people."

Li Zhiyi shook her head desperately.

"No, Grandpa, I wasn't wronged. Please stop talking and get some rest, okay?"

Li Jianjun ignored her and continued speaking to Chen Zhi intermittently.
