Chapter 10, The Ginseng Fruit Ripens

After saying this, Hongyun was about to go find a cave. Zhen Yuanzi looked at the slightly lonely figure of the first Daoist he met after transforming into human form, and in the end, he couldn't bear to leave him.

He called out, "Hongyun, wait!"

Hongyun promptly obeyed and stopped, because just now, he had felt deep anxiety about where he would be living in the future.

Zhen Yuanzi continued, "Why don't you stay at Wuzhuang Temple for the time being? You can discuss the Dao together in your spare time."

"Excellent!" Hongyun turned around happily, and Zhen Yuanzi bowed to her, saying, "Thank you for taking me in, Zhen Yuanzi."

Hongyun followed Zhen Yuanzi into Wuzhuang Temple, found a room to stay in, and happened to be next to the Taoist temple, where she could discuss Taoism with Zhen Yuanzi.

"May I stay in this room?" Hongyun asked politely.

Since Zhen Yuanzi had invited Hongyun to stay, he naturally wouldn't prevent Hongyun from choosing a room. Especially since there were only the two of them in Wuzhuang Temple, there were plenty of empty rooms, so Hongyun could stay in whichever room she liked.

"Hongyun, you may choose any room you like." Zhen Yuanzi waved his sleeve magnanimously and entered the room he had chosen.

Hongyun entered the room, cast a spell to set it up according to her own ideas, and then settled in.

But in the primordial world, time was immeasurable. Although time flew by, there was nothing to pass the time. Hongyun didn't know what to do in the room, so he simply didn't rest and started cultivating cross-legged, trying to comprehend the Daoist principles within the bead in his body.

The opportunity bestowed by Pangu was the foundation of Hongyun's existence, perhaps even more useful than the immoral system. Hongyun dared not be negligent for a moment, and focused all his attention on comprehending the Dao.

He then went into seclusion to cultivate, and several hundred years passed when he emerged from his room again.

Hongyun felt somewhat embarrassed as she exchanged glances with Zhen Yuanzi, who was looking at the ginseng fruit tree in the courtyard. It was truly impolite to stay inside someone else's house for centuries while being a guest.

Zhen Yuanzi broke the awkward silence by speaking first: "Hongyun seems to have gained some insight?"

Hongyun nodded: "I have gained some insights, but the mysteries of Tao are boundless. Although I have been in seclusion for hundreds of years, I have not made any progress."

"Hongyun, you are a primordial being with profound blessings. Your transformation into a Great Luo Immortal has already surpassed most living beings. The Great Dao is boundless, so why rush things?" Zhen Yuanzi comforted him.

Zhen Yuanzi did indeed envy Hongyun's luck and fortune. Hongyun had taken human form before him, and although the transformation was less dramatic, his cultivation was subtly superior. He had initially thought Hongyun possessed the Earth Book, a companion spiritual treasure with the best defensive capabilities, but now it seemed Hongyun might also have a companion spiritual treasure. Especially considering he had gained enlightenment so soon after taking human form, his profound good fortune was evident.

However, Zhen Yuanzi was an upright and honest gentleman. He only felt a little envious and had no other thoughts. On the contrary, he was happy for Hongyun.

Hongyun lowered her head and smiled faintly. When she looked up again, she saw the ginseng fruits that had already ripened on the tree.

"Are the ginseng fruits ripe?" Hongyun asked in surprise.

I think the ginseng fruit was mentioned when I watched Journey to the West before. The time between flowering, fruiting and ripening should be very long. How come it ripened in only a few hundred years?

Zhen Yuanzi also looked at the ginseng fruit tree, and slowly showed disappointment, saying, "I gave it some spiritual power, hoping it would take human form faster."

This ginseng fruit tree is just a ginseng fruit tree. Zhen Yuanzi's current despondency may be because he has realized that the ginseng fruit tree will not take human form like him and keep him company.

Hongyun blinked, trying to distract Zhen Yuanzi: "Zhen Yuan, you know I've gained some insights during this seclusion. Why don't we discuss the Dao and share our understanding?"
