Upon hearing Hongyun's voice, Xuandu helped Laozi to his feet and hurried over, saying, "Teacher!"

"He called you teacher?" Tongtian thought Xuandu was Hongyun's disciple.

Hongyun quickly explained, "The Nine Heavens Breath Soil that Nuwa used to create humans was given to me, and I named the human race. After Nuwa became a saint, she went to the Thirty-Three Heavens, and I also protected the human race. They initially called me Father, but I changed it to Teacher and did not take any disciples."

"Only the humans created by Nuwa call me teacher; the humans that multiplied afterward all call me holy teacher."

Tongtian nodded, his gaze towards Xuandu showing even more satisfaction, for Laozi was already walking towards them, albeit with faltering steps.

Hongyun smiled and said, "Xuandu, you are the first human in the prehistoric world, with excellent aptitude and temperament. I originally intended to take you as my disciple, but since we have no master-disciple bond, I had no choice but to find you a master."

Laozi's face visibly darkened, and Tongtian was very satisfied:

"I am Shangqing Tongtian, and I wish to take you as my disciple. Are you willing?"
