Ah Qi's smile froze for a moment.

The innocence faded from his peach blossom eyes, revealing a hint of danger, but he quickly regained his composure: "Then, sister, will you love me well?"

Lu Yao lowered her eyes, looked away, and remained silent.

"Sister, you won't even comfort me, it's really heartbreaking," Ah Qi muttered to herself. "But it's okay, as long as you stay by my side, that's enough. I'm tired, sister, can you hold me while I sleep?"

As he spoke, he stood up and reached out to pick Lu Yao up.

"What are you doing?" Lu Yao asked nervously, pushing him away.

"What did you think I was going to do, sister?" He raised an eyebrow, as if he had just thought of something. "Given your current pregnancy, you should be able to be served. Would you like to experience my abilities, sister?"

"I don't want to!" Lu Yao refused uneasily, but was still carried to the bed by A Qi and then surrounded by the boy's arms. "Then keep quiet, sister, otherwise, I might lose control of myself."

Lu Yao fell silent. She really couldn't figure out what the unpredictable boy wanted to do.

Seeing that Lu Yao was obedient, A Qi curled the corners of her lips, but there was no real smile in her eyes: "Sister should get used to my presence. After all, after giving birth to this child, sister will have to have more children for me."

As soon as he finished speaking, he touched her protruding belly and felt the person in his arms stiffen.

Lu Yao dared not move.

Ah Qi's palm was placed on her slightly protruding belly. The warm touch came through the thin fabric, but it made the hairs on her body stand on end. She remained in this position for a long time.

She heard the boy's even breathing behind her, his warm breath spraying onto the back of her neck, carrying a faint, sweet fragrance, and she fell asleep just like that.

Lu Yao's tense body relaxed slightly, but she still dared not move.

The boy's arms were still wrapped around her waist, and unconsciously tightened a little in his sleep, pulling her closer to him.

She turned her head and, using the faint light filtering in from the porthole, looked at that sleeping face.

When he was asleep, the innocence and harmlessness on his face seemed especially real.

Long, thick eyelashes cast soft shadows under her eyelids, and there was even a faint smile on her lips, as if she were having a sweet dream.

She looked away, closed her eyes, and after an unknown amount of time, drowsiness finally overcame her tension, and she drifted off to sleep.

*

When I woke up again, the seat behind me was empty.

Lu Yao paused for a moment, then sat up and looked around.

She was the only one in the cabin.

Sunlight streamed in through the portholes—no, not sunlight, but artificial light, yet it was simulated so realistically that it warmed you and made you almost forget you were on a starship.

She looked down at herself; her clothes were intact, and she felt no discomfort.

There was a gentle knock on the hatch.

Lu Yao looked up and saw Aze push the door open and come in, carrying a tray.

"Miss Lu Yao, breakfast." He placed the tray on the small table, his tone indifferent. "Seventh Young Master said that you should eat well, and someone will take you to the deck to sunbathe this morning."

Lu Yao looked at him and asked, "Where is Zhou Jinlu?"

Aze paused slightly.

Those heterochromatic eyes fell on her face, a complex emotion flashing within them.

"Young Master Zhou is very good," he said. "Seventh Young Master instructed that as long as you cooperate, he will not be made difficult."

"When can I see him?" Even if Aze said that, Lu Yao wouldn't really feel at ease until she saw Zhou Jinlu in person.

Aze didn't answer this time, but said, "The starship will arrive at the supply star early the day after tomorrow. Miss Lu Yao has probably never been to an edge star before, so you can go and take a look then."

After finishing his sentence, Aze didn't linger and turned to leave.

Lu Yao watched his disappearing figure, her brows furrowing slightly. Why did he suddenly say such a thing to her?

After breakfast, the person who said they would take her to "sunbathe" did not show up.

Lu Yao tentatively walked to the door, reached out and opened it, only to find that it was not locked, or rather, Ah Qi had not had anyone restrict her movements.

Because they don't care where she goes, as long as she's on the starship, she has no way to escape.

Since that's the case, she doesn't need to stay in the room any longer; she can go find Zhou Jinlu herself.

Lu Yao stood in front of the open cabin door, her gaze fixed on the end of the corridor.

Without any guards, the interior of the starship was eerily quiet. She took a deep breath and stepped outside.

The corridor was lined with tightly closed hatches, with no markings on them, so it was impossible to tell what was inside.

Guided by her memory, she walked in the direction where Zhou Jinlu had been taken away the previous night.

As I turned the corner, I bumped into someone.

It's Aze.

He stood in the middle of the corridor, his heterochromatic eyes silently watching her, as if he had known all along that she would come out.

Lu Yao stopped in her tracks.

The two stared at each other for a few seconds before Aze looked away first and stepped aside to make way.

"Go forward, to the third hatch." His voice was soft. "He's inside."

Lu Yao's heart skipped a beat.

She tried to look at him, but Aze turned away first.

But she knew that the suggestion she had just received was not a delusion.

"...Thank you," she said softly, walking past him and quickly moving forward.

Lu Yao strode towards the third cabin door.

She stood in front of the door, took a deep breath, and reached out to press the open button.

The hatch slid open silently.

The room was dimly lit, with only a small nightlight on, barely outlining the space.

Zhou Jinlu sat against the corner of the wall, his hands tied to the wall. Hearing the noise, he looked up, and his light brown eyes met her gaze in the dim light.

"Slender?"

Lu Yao's pupils suddenly contracted.

"Zhoujin Ritsu!"

She rushed to him, squatted down, and looked down at his wrists, which were bound by metal shackles. The shackles had left deep red marks, and in some places the skin had broken and fine blood was seeping out.

"How could they..." Her voice trembled as she reached out to touch the wounds, but dared not.

Zhou Jinlu smiled and said in his usual gentle tone, "Don't worry, it doesn't hurt."

"You're lying." Lu Yao's eyes reddened. "How could it not hurt in this state?"

Zhou Jinlu looked at her, a gentle smile spreading across his light brown eyes.

"It really doesn't hurt," he said softly. "Don't worry, how did you get through it?"

"They didn't restrict my movements. It was Aze who told me the location." Lu Yao's voice was still trembling slightly. She took a deep breath and forced herself to calm down. "He also mentioned the supply planet, saying it would arrive early the day after tomorrow, and then I could go and explore it."

Zhou Jinlu's eyes flickered slightly.

"What is he implying?" he whispered, his light brown eyes appearing particularly deep in the dim light. "The supply planet is a transit point, crowded and conspicuous. If he wants to help us, that's his only chance."

Lu Yao nodded; that was what she thought too.

But why did Aze do that?
