Lin Xiuer glanced at him, and just then he looked up and met her gaze. He nodded slightly as a greeting.

She nodded, then looked away and continued making pancakes.

But a thought slowly surfaced in my mind.

Lin Xiuer paused, recalling last night. After the two of them finished, she had simply fallen asleep. No precautions were taken, no protection whatsoever.

Her face flushed slightly, and she quickly pulled her thoughts back.

She genuinely liked Ping An.

But she wasn't the ignorant village woman from the original owner of this body; she came from the modern world and knew the consequences of not using contraception.

She liked him, but she didn't want to get pregnant with his child without knowing why.

It's not that she doesn't want to have a child with him, it's just that in the current situation, he doesn't even know who he is.

There are too many mysteries surrounding him. The knife, his martial arts skills, the wounds on his body when he was found.

What if he regains his memory one day? What if he already has a family? What if he's not someone she can keep at all...?

She herself hadn't even settled down yet, her family was just starting to improve, and the garden wasn't even ready when Xiao He was born.

If she has another child at this time, how will she raise it?

and……

She glanced at Ping An.

He was helping to collect money and hand out pancakes, occasionally glancing up at her with a smile on his lips.

As Lin Xiuer thought about it, she became annoyed.

She flipped the spatula in her hand quickly, but the smile on her face faded a bit.

Ping An seemed to notice that she looked unwell, so he moved closer and asked in a low voice, "My lady, what's wrong?"

Lin Xiuer shook her head and forced a smile: "It's nothing, I'm just... a little tired."

Ping An looked at her with a hint of worry in her eyes, but didn't ask any questions, assuming that she was just too tired from being tormented last night.

I took the spatula from her and helped her flip the pancake.

Standing beside him, Lin Xiuer looked at his innocent eyes and his efficient movements, and her heart softened again.

This man is truly wonderful.

But she couldn't let him be so good that she didn't think about the future.

She looked up and glanced again at the doctor diagonally opposite her.

Maybe... I can ask him for help?

As the sun rose higher, the long queue in front of the stalls finally came to an end.

Lin Xiuer glanced at the remaining dough and batter in the basin, then decided not to sell any more, keeping it for her own family.

"That's all for today, that's all for now." She waved to the neighbors in line. "The rest have already been reserved."

Several people at the back of the line left disappointed, muttering, "Come earlier tomorrow."

Lin Xiuer poured the remaining batter onto the griddle and began making breakfast for her family.

As I was making pancakes, I could hear Wu Liangcai's loud voice from afar.

"Sister Lin—! We're here—!"

Lin Xiuer looked up and saw Wu Liangcai wearing a short shirt, sweating profusely from running, followed by Chen Mingxuan and several servants carrying their tools.

Wu Liangcai leaned closer to the griddle, watching the golden pancakes sizzle in the oil, and sniffed, "Smells good! So delicious!"

"You're here!" Lin Xiuer said with a smile, handing over the freshly made pancakes. "Eat some first."

Chen Mingxuan closed his folding fan and looked around: "Where's Brother Hu?"

"He went to buy tofu pudding," Lin Xiuer pointed, "saying that eating just pancakes is too dry and needs to be accompanied by something slurry."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Hu Yidao returned carrying a tray with several bowls of tofu pudding and wontons on it.

"Come on, come on, while it's hot!" He placed the tray on the empty table beside him. "Old Zhou's tofu pudding, a specialty of Peach Blossom Town!"

Several people sat down around a table, each with a bowl of tofu pudding or wontons, and slurped them down with freshly made pancakes.

Xiao He sat next to Lin Xiuer, eating half a pancake in her hand. She took a bite, then drank some tofu pudding, her eyes squinting like a satisfied kitten.

Wu Liangcai ate quickly, finishing a pancake in no time, and then reached for a second one.

While eating, she mumbled, "Sister Lin, if I ate your cooking every day, I'd be fat to death sooner or later, let alone lose weight."

"It's better to die fat than to starve." Chen Mingxuan slowly sipped his tofu pudding. "You didn't say that the other day when you were eating leafy greens."

Wu Liangcai glared at him and continued eating.

Hu Yidao watched them bicker with amusement, gulping down his wonton soup.

After eating and drinking their fill, the group wiped their mouths, tidied up, and headed towards the old house in the west of the town.

When they reached the fork in the road, Lin Xiuer stopped.

"You guys go ahead," she said to Ping An. "I'm taking Xiao He to the tailor shop to get a couple of outfits made. We'll also buy a few things and be right back."

Ping An nodded: "Okay, let's go clear the grass again first."

Hu Yidao waved his hand, "Go ahead, go ahead, no rush."

Wu Liangcai and Chen Mingxuan nodded in agreement, and the group headed towards the old house.

Lin Xiuer pulled Xiao He along and turned into Liu Sanzhen's clothing shop.

The shop was filled with all kinds of clothes, from coarse cloth short coats to fine cotton long gowns.

Liu Sanzhen was sitting behind the counter doing accounts when he heard footsteps and looked up.

"Hey, Miss Lin!" He put down his ledger and came out to greet her. "What brings you here today? Did you sell out of pancakes?"

"Sold out, but I saved two for you." Lin Xiuer smiled and handed over two oil paper packages, then pulled Xiao He forward.

"Brother Liu, this is Xiao He, my newly adopted younger sister. I'd like to ask you to make her a couple of outfits; it's getting warmer, time to change the clothes for the season."

Liu Sanzhen looked down at Xiao He.

The little girl was thin and small, standing there somewhat reserved, clutching the hem of her clothes with both hands, but her eyes were bright and clever.

Liu Sanzhen clicked his tongue twice and carefully examined her.

"This girl has lost a bit of weight." He stood up, took out a measuring tape from behind the counter, and said, "Here, girl, open your arms, let me measure you."

Xiao He glanced at Lin Xiuer, who nodded at her.

She obediently opened her arms and stood up straight.

As Liu Sanzhen measured, she muttered, "Shoulder width...arm length...waist circumference...oh, this waist is so thin, it's about the same thickness as my arm. I need to gain some weight, I need to gain some weight."

Xiaohe felt a little embarrassed by his reading, and her face turned slightly red.

After taking the measurements, Liu Sanzhen held up a soft measuring tape and gestured on the cloth, saying, "Two outfits, right? One made of fine cotton, and one made of coarse cloth, to alternate. What colors do you want?"

Lin Xiuer thought for a moment: "For fine cotton, make it simple, like bluish-gray or off-white. For coarse cloth, make it darker, it's more resistant to dirt."

"Alright." Liu Sanzhen wrote it down. "Come back in two days to pick it up. It will fit perfectly."

Xiaohe felt a warm glow in her heart as she listened to them talk.

This was the first time someone had made new clothes for her. They weren't hand-me-downs or altered adult clothes; they were made especially for her.

Liu Sanzhen put away the measuring tape and looked at Lin Xiuer, his gaze lingering on her.

"Hey young lady," he looked her up and down, "why don't you get a couple of outfits made for you?"

Lin Xiuer was stunned for a moment, then looked down at herself.

She was wearing the old clothes left behind by the original owner of the body; they were dusty, baggy, and loose around the waist.

She's lost a lot of weight recently, and these clothes definitely don't fit her anymore; they feel like they're going to slip down when she walks.

"Me?" She hesitated for a moment. "I'm alright, I can wear it..."
