Chapter 31 Old Dog, You've Narrowed Your Path
Lin Jianguo roared, making everyone in the alchemy room's eardrums buzz.
He pointed at Lin Fu, who was slumped on the ground like a limp rag, his chest heaving violently, his old face turning a deep liver color.
"Lin Fu! You traitorous old dog!"
Lin Jianguo was so angry that he was trembling all over.
"My Lin family has cared for you for thirty years, and you dare to commit such a heinous act, plotting to murder my own grandson!"
He suddenly waved his hand and roared at the guards who had rushed in through the door.
"What are you all standing there for! Drag him out and beat him to death!"
Upon hearing this, the two guards immediately stepped forward, one on each side, and grabbed Lin Fu's arms to drag him out.
Lin Fu was terrified.
He felt his body being pulled, his legs tangled together like a rag doll.
His legs went weak, and he was dragged on the ground, crying and begging for mercy.
"Please spare me, sir! Please spare me!"
"It wasn't me! It really wasn't my idea!"
Lin Fu was in tears and struggled desperately, but he couldn't break free from the soldier's iron grip.
"It's Huichuntang! It's Manager Zhao from Huichuntang!"
"It was him! He gave me the Crimson Fire Saltpeter, he sent me to harm the young master!"
"He said that once the deal was done, all of Jishetang's business would be his, he said..."
In order to save his life, Lin Fu blurted out everything, like beans spilling from a bamboo tube.
Lin Jianguo's eyes widened in fury. He rushed forward and raised his foot to kick Lin Fu in the head.
"You dare to argue!"
Grandpa.
A small hand gently tugged at Lin Jianguo's clothes.
Lin Jianguo froze. He looked down and saw Chu Chen looking up at him with his small face.
"Chen'er, don't interfere! This kind of beast must not be allowed to live!"
Chu Chen shook his head.
He walked up to Lin Fu, who was being held down, squatted down, and looked directly into the terrified and desperate face.
"Uncle Fu, dying is so meaningless."
Chu Chen's voice was childish and innocent, but to Lin Fu's ears, it was more terrifying than a death-bringing ghost.
"You can only play if you're alive."
Looking at his grandson's innocent face and hearing those chilling words, Lin Jianguo's heart skipped a beat.
He waved his hand, signaling the two guards to let go.
The guards exchanged a glance and released Lin Fu.
Lin Fu lay on the ground like a lump of mud, too weak to even get up, and just kept trembling.
Chu Chen ignored him and turned around, holding up the small bottle made of white jade.
"Grandpa, look, I've succeeded."
Lin Jianguo stared at the jade-green liquid in the bottle, still somewhat dazed.
"This is……"
"Body Tempering Fluid," Chu Chen answered crisply.
He looked around and his gaze fell on one of the guards.
The guard's left shoulder posture looked somewhat unnatural.
"You, come here." Chu Chen beckoned to him with her small hand.
The guard paused for a moment, then subconsciously glanced at Lin Jianguo.
Lin Jianguo nodded to him.
The guard then walked up to Chu Chen, stood at attention, and looked somewhat reserved.
"Reporting to Mr. Chu."
"Have you injured your left shoulder before?" Chu Chen asked.
A hint of surprise flashed across the guard's face.
"Yes, I was grazed by shrapnel during an exercise three years ago. My tendons and veins were damaged, and they ache and hurt whenever it's cloudy or rainy."
This is an old ailment of his; experts at the military hospital have seen him, and all they can do is keep him healthy, there's no cure.
Chu Chen nodded and uncorked the jade bottle.
He tilted the jade bottle and carefully poured out a single drop of emerald-green liquid, no bigger than a grain of rice, into the guard's palm.
"Eat it."
The moment the drop of liquid touched the skin, it transformed into a cool current of air, instantly penetrating the skin without leaving a trace.
The guard was dumbfounded and hadn't reacted yet.
"I told you to eat it, not to catch it with your hands." Chu Chen frowned slightly.
He felt a pang of heartache, so he poured out another drop and this time used his little finger to smear it on the guard's lips.
The guard felt a sweet liquid slide down his throat, followed by a powerful surge of heat that exploded and coursed wildly through his limbs and bones.
He groaned, his muscles tensed instantly, and veins bulged on his forehead.
"what!"
An indescribable, excruciating pain emanated from the old wound on his left shoulder, as if countless red-hot steel needles were churning inside.
He couldn't help but cry out in pain, his face turning deathly pale instantly.
Lin Jianguo and the guards around him were startled, thinking that something had happened.
"Don't move."
Chu Chen's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an irresistible power.
The guard gritted his teeth, sweat streaming down his forehead like a stream.
The excruciating pain came quickly and went quickly.
In just over ten seconds, the excruciating pain disappeared, replaced by an unprecedented comfort and warmth, like soaking in a hot spring.
He felt as if a heavy shackle had been removed from his left shoulder, leaving him feeling incredibly relaxed.
He tentatively and slowly moved his left arm.
Lift up, put down.
Draw a circle.
Every movement was smooth and natural, without the slightest stagnation or soreness.
The chronic illness that had plagued him for three years was actually... cured?
He suddenly raised his head and stared intently at Chu Chen with the eyes of someone looking at a god.
"Thump!"
This tough guy, who bleeds but doesn't shed tears on the training field, knelt straight down in front of Chu Chen.
He was so excited that he was incoherent and his eyes were red.
"Mr. Chu! Thank you! Thank you!"
"My wounds... my wounds are completely healed!"
The alchemy room was completely silent.
Everyone was stunned by the incredible skill before their eyes, leaving their minds blank.
A single drop of medicine cured an old injury that even military hospital experts couldn't treat.
Is this medicine?
This is a divine elixir!
Lin Jianguo stared wide-eyed at the small jade bottle in Chu Chen's hand, his gaze shifting from shock to fervor.
He seemed to see Jishetang and even the entire Lin family about to usher in immense wealth and glory!
Chu Chen put the stopper back on the bottle and tucked the jade bottle back into his pocket, as if he had done something insignificant.
He walked over to Lin Fu, who was lying on the ground, and looked down at him.
"Uncle Fu".
Chu Chen's voice pulled Lin Fu's soul back from the brink of flying away.
Lin Fu raised his head and met those clear, black and white eyes, and his whole body trembled even more violently.
Chu Chen grinned, revealing two rows of tiny teeth.
"You've narrowed your path."
He crouched down and patted Lin Fu's bloodless face.
"Go back and tell that guy surnamed Zhao."
"Just tell them, the medicine I make tastes pretty good."
"Ask him if he'd like to try some too?"
After saying that, Chu Chen stood up and didn't look at him again.
He walked over to Lin Jianguo, took his hand, looked up, and his face regained its childlike innocence.
"Grandpa, I'm hungry."
"I want to eat meat buns, fresh out of the steamer, the kind with lots of meat filling."
